The shoe delimma

Ok I have a questions in rewards to shoes to wear for my workouts. I have running shoes for when I run and for my Cathe workouts or aurobic workouts and weight training, lunges, squats I use my crosstrainers. I've always used the New Balance 622 for the longest time but they are discontinued and now i'm looking for another brand or new crosstrainer. But I notice that they have the crosstrainer, toning, and studio shoes. I'm confuse now!!! Am I soppose to be using different shoes for my differnt workouts? I'm mostly concern for when I do my squats and lunges...is it ok to use the crosstrainer or should I be using the toning shoe? What is your favorite shoe for your Cathe aourobics, plyometric workouts? So confused!!!
 
I think studio shoes are meant for aerobics but crosstrainers are perfectly fine for that as well. Crosstrainers are all I ever used for years...

For weight lifting you can probably wear anything (I would) though I wouldn't wear toning shoes. They mess with your balance/stability and that could be dangerous with lower body work outs especially when using heavier weights.

Toning shoes are really only meant for walking.

Running shoes are meant for running only but many find them great for everything else as well. I was afraid to use them as aerobic shoes but the last time I went shoe shopping I found a pair of running shoes the most comfortable so I took a chance and it's worked out great for me!

I wouldn't wear a cross trainer or aerobics studio shoe for running, but I have worn running shoes for step and gym workouts a lot and it works out just fine. But the mechanics of running, to my mind, need to be respected with a proper running shoe. I'm susceptible to running injuries so I won't take any chance with that.

I think you can use a good cross trainer for step, boot camp, kickbox, weight training, and general gym purposes, probably for most cardio machines, except treadmill. Perhaps Zumba and dancing are activities also in which the special shoe (without large built up heels and fore foot) is needed so you can pivot with ease and not get your fluid movements hampered by chunky footwear.

There is a post on the Ask Cathe forum, I believe, that dates from this week with a discussion of cross trainers. Might help you?
