The real deal on P90X

I would like to know if these workouts are as intense as Cathe's?

Also, for the Back/Chest it states you need a pull up bar. If I decide to purchase this program where can I get a pull up bar?

Also, your opinion, is this a good program to rotate with Cathe?

Finally, are you seeing results (i.e. cardio, endurance, muscular)?

I appreciate your honesty, I trust the judgement from the people on this forum who make exercise a way of life.

I just started the P90X series about 3 weeks ago and am a VERY proud member of "Rut Busters" found on this very forum.

I am not sure it is quite as *intense* as Cathe but it challenging and hard. After (almost) three weeks I am seeing results. I am getting stronger through my upper body. What P90X offers that is so different from Cathe is basically a ton of push-ups (ones you couldn't imagine in your wildest dreams) and a ton of pull-ups, oh and a yoga that still kicks my arse! That may turn you off but I am getting pretty darn happy with the results thus far.

I highly recommend the pull-up bar. I bought one for $15.00 at Play it Again Sports. Most any sporting goods store will have them...try Sears, I've seen them there. Mine has two round "cups I screwed into the doorway and the bar "fits" into the cups. Works great! I cannot do any pull-ups without the assistance of my toe but I am getting closer!

I do think it is a good program to rotate with Cathe, can't really think of a better one.

I am seeing results in regards to my upper body strength, endurance and upper body muscle tone.

P90X does little for the lower body so I am working Cathe in to keep the strength going in the legs and butt.

I say think about what your goals are, get it and if it is not for you, sell it on ebay and surely get all your money back.

Hope this helps!

I'm also a fan of p90x (and a proud member of the "rutbusters").
I'm going to sing the praises of p90x because it has helped me build my strength significantly. I don't respond well to endurance style weight lifting, and the variety and options with the p90x strength work really work for me. I'm petite 5'2" 109 lb who has a hard time building muscle. Since i started this rotation (with the rutbuster groups) three weeks ago, my arms have really gained some nice definition. TOnight i did an upper body workout and actually upped my weights to where i have NEVER been able to lift before.

However, i use Cathe and spinervals and running for my cardio and i'm not a big yoga fan, so i pretty much use the p90x for my strength work.

Oh yeah, and at the beginning of this rotation i could do like 3 straight leg pushups and tonight i did 25. that's good for me!

Hi Linda...you can probably do some searches on P90X and find some answers...I got awesome results with P90X when I did the 1st rotation last year. I also drastically changed my diet. I did add some Cathe to my P90X rotation and for legs I'd say most of Cathe is much more intense. But as far as upper body before the Hardcore series I think P90X was alot more intense. You can substitute for the pull-up bar but I already had one so I did the modifications with it. I think P90X is a worth while investment....:)...Carole
