The only one in the world to eat.....

I thought of this topic this morning as I made my egg white omelet w/blackeyed peas and shredded fat free cheddar cheese :)
I could only say to myself as I spooned the peas onto the egg, "clearly Donna, you are THE only person in the world eating this concoction!"
Laugh if you must, but I knocked out 15g fiber with this little meal, and 0 fatg and the blackeyed peas keep me filled up until lunch! :)

But I was wondering who else out there has their own little, "only person in the world to eat this meal" meal, and are you bold enough to share it with us!? :)

Donna

Okay .. not a "meal", but a snack ..

People think I'm nuts when I sit down with peanut butter and pretzels. It HAS to be *Jif*, and it has to be pretzel "sticks", not rods, not twists. And .. I never do it any other way than dip directly in the jar :)

OH .. and for the record, I've recruited a few others that after trying it, think the world would come to an end without their pretzels and PB!!

I eat exactly what you do Donna - egg whites with black beans, low fat veggie cheese, green chillies and salsa. It tastes nice wrapped in whole wheat tortilla as well. I do have a lot of strange food habits though. Normally most people think about whether they are going to eat fish or chicken etc. for a meal. I plan everything around veggies. Its always - oh, what veggies am I going to have today. The rest comes as an after thought. I am definitely crazy about veggies. I also always have what people would call a breakfast for supper. Normally it is a bowl of cereal with berries and skim milk, egg beaters with veggies or cottage cheese and fruit. Apparently I did this when I was young as well. It used to drive my Mum nuts when I ate cornflakes for supper while everyone else ate a proper meal.

How about a crushed-up baggie of mini Shredded Wheat, mixed up with a bowl of house-brand Cheerios knock-offs, with NO MILK?!

Top that one!

Sounds good to me! I eat tuna for breakfast everyday, so I don't think your concoction is weird at all.

cottage cheese and low sugar strawberry jam on rice cakes, as a snack before a workout....I have always had eating habits that have been considered a little weird, but if you ask me, its weird to eat fast food for a meal!

Every morning - eggs, cheese, and toast with jam, but I put the eggs between the toast and eat it like a sandwich.

Not one of these sounded strange to me! Maybe _I_ am strange...

My husband used to make mashed potato sandwiches in the days when he was on a very very tight budget. (I don't know how they stayed between the bread.)

The girls at work give me strange looks as I pour Fiber One cereal into my fat free cottage cheese...but, you cant beat 120 calories, 1 gram of fat, high fiber and 17 grams of protein for lunch!

Stacy

Ha. I think I have you all beat. Don't gag when you read this please.

Instructions:

Take one can of beans of choice, drained and add a bit of sauteed onions, mushrooms and green pepper. Celery can be added too. I prefer black beans.

Take one baked sweet potato and split in half.

Dump bean concoction on top of potato.

Place a dollop of fat free plain yogurt on top.

Enjoy.....if you have strange eating habits, like me.

Uh oh. Are those cyber-gagging sounds I am hearing? I thought so. Stay strong.

Marlene

Nope...

...no gagging here. I personally think it sounds GREAT! I love black beans, my fav. I love to whip up some rice, black beans and cut up canned tomatoes. (Just mix it all together~any amount~no measuring.) I've been know to eat this for breakfast also. The rice & beans stay with you for a filling meal.

icky (?) foods

You know, I teach my students a song that goes, "Bate, bate chocolate, con arroz y con tomate," which translates to "stir, stir chocolate with rice and tomato." Some of my Hispanic students assure me that this is "comida muy delicioso"! But I haven't tried it yet. Frankly, I have my doubts.

RE: icky (?) foods

Okay~ suddenly my blackeyed pea omelet sounds normal! :)

There are a few suggestions I think I might have to try, but clearly there are 1 or 2 that some of you guys have probably won the "only one in the world to eat this" prize hands down! :)

Donna

RE: Yuck!

I love exotic flavors, so I'm always game. I've been on a spring salad mix/mango/avocado/plum tomato/canned tuna/with raspberry-walnut viniagrette kick lately. Yummmm!!!

Thanks for all the great ideas.

RE: icky (?) foods

Sounds like the beginnings of mole. I used to hate mole, but I have two friends who make the best mole, and I always order it at this great little restaurant nearby. Nopales (cactus) with pork and chiles is great, too! CinDee

My dad eats cold baked bean sandwiches and when I was growing up my little brother used to gross me out by eating pickled pigs feet and canned sardines - together. My grandmother used to love frog legs. Apparently I'm the only normal (and I use that term loosely!) one in my family ;-) !
