The No Sweets Check-In - June 14, 2005

Cathlete
Hey everyone. How is everyone doing today?

Today is biscuit day. Mine will join the one from last week in the freezer to be eaten later.

This is a hard, hard week for me for personal reasons. I'm hoping not to break down and use sweets as a comfort. I'll have to take it one minute at a time.

Awww, Shelley. I hope things get better for you. Just keep in mind that July will bring you many freezer biscuits and, in the meatime, we are all here to support you.

I'm behaving myself, which is pretty wild considering I have full-blown PMS right now. Self-control is becoming my mantra.

This week has already been a hard week for personal reasons as well. My mom, God rest her soul, passed away last year and her b-day is tomorrow. Actually, I don't feel like eating so cheating won't be an issue. "This too shall pass."

Hang in there Shelley.

On the brighter side, yesterday was good I did play max, Imax 2, and play max. I guess I should have done another Imax since I cheated yesterday! :)

Day 14! Way to go girls!

OK, I started a sweets check-in thread at the same time so I'll post here.

I'm doomed. This is what is on our menu at work:

Top your own Sundae
Vanilla and chocolate ice cream topped with Oreo cookie crumbles, maraschino cherries, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and whipped cream

I'm caving....

Angie

Angie - is that ALL that's on your menu at work??? I wanna work where you work! LOL! Well, not until July. ;)

Shelley - hang in there. Food only brings temporary comfort. For longer-lasting comfort, you have all of us here on Cathe.com. We're here for you.

I've been doing alright. I really want a cookie. Tomorrow is going to be tough - one of my coworkers is having his 35-year anniversary celebration and there will be cake. If it is chocolate cake, I don't know if I will be able to resist. If it is white cake, I can say no. How will I resist the chocolate cake??? HOW???!!

Be brave, Angie!

The Sundae is nothing out of the ordinary that you couldn't put off until July. If it were something really special, that's a different matter.

Don't cave!

>Dallas - check your private messages.

Thanks, I sent a reply x2. You are so sweet! You hang in there, too!

My new mantra: Be brave, don't cave!

LOL, Emily! No, that's not the only thing on the menu. Today is our company's "Take Your Kids to Work" day so they are serving stuff like tacos and chicken fingers and this stupid sundae bar. GACKKK!!!!

OK, Emily - if I resist the sundae bar (which is made of all my favorite things in the world), you have to promise to resist the cake tomorrow, EVEN IF IT'S CHOCOLATE - I'll do it if you do it!!

I am planning on leaving the building during lunch and going shopping for my daughter's birthday instead. I can't be near the stuff.

You're right, I've come this far and it is nothing THAT special.

Why couldn't they have done this in JULY?!?!?!

Angie

*weeping* *sobbing* *crying* ....okay, it's a deal... *sniff*

But it's not fair - you are going to leave during lunch today, so you won't even be near the temptation. I, on the other hand, cannot escape the temptation. Oh madness! :(

I know, I thought about that earlier. That sucks you can't even leave since it's a celebration.

Call in sick??? ;)

Put a blindfold on??

Or you can bribe the person in charge of ordering the cake to make it a WHITE cake, instead of a chocolate one. And eat something before you go.

Angie

Made it through yesterday and having a good day so far. Wanted to have a soda today after buying my kids those bottles of sin. But got home and grabbed my crystal light really quick, and it the craving passed.

I have lost 2 pds. since this challenge began, so I am really happy about that.

Yes... this week is shaping up to be a personally rough week. ugh. However, for some reason when I'm having personal issues, I don't want ANY food.... not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing :p

They are having an Ice Cream party here today too. They must know we're half way there and are just testing/tempting us!

Hang in there everyone!
-Leslie

I just passed up chocolate dipped macaroons with cranberries and nuts in them. That was the longest meeting of my life! They looked so good. :-(

So far so good here. Had more pineapple and cheese, but no toffee ice cream bars with my daughter after lunch!

I have added running for the last 3 weeks along with our challenge and I have lost about 6 pounds! It is the beginning of a long road. I wouldn't have made a dent without this challenge, so thank you to everyone for keeping up with one another!

EE

Wow, EE, that's awesome!

Lunacat - those sound sooooo good....

OK, Emily, I was pressured to stay for lunch so I did. I had a huge salad, a couple chicken fingers and NO SUNDAE!! 2 out of 4 of my co-workers got a huge sundae with oreo cookies, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, whipped cream.....the works. It looked so incredible. The only vindication is that my office mate is now groaning, wishing he didn't have the ice cream!! }(

Your turn - JUST SAY NO!

Angie

Okay, Angie... it's a deal. You did very well. :) So tomorrow will be my turn to do very well. I have already decided to imagine that the cake is full of slimy, writhing worms and crunchy beetles. But I have also decided not to tell any of my coworkers this, lest they think I've lost my marbles and must be toted off to the looney bin. ;)
