It's 6pm and Halloween is in full swing here. We live in a busy neighborhood and expect to get anywhere from 50-70 kids. So far, Batman seems to be the most popular costume :)

I had several little Darth Vader's and spiderman boys! Had a lot of fairy princesses too. So cute:)

In my neighborhood, it's just sad. Kids don't even say Trick or Treat anymore. They may not even wear costumes. Well, isn't that the whole spirit of Halloween? I had so much candy & lots of treats to give away. We got a whole lot more trick or treaters than last year, but compared to when we were kids, it's pretty sad.

omg marla we actually saw kids in treat clothes trying to pass themselves off as "hard core" rappers. i just rolled my eyes. the "hip hop" and "gothic" kids get away with this every year. so unoriginal. we usually make our own costume with old clothes or get clothes for like $1 from the thift store and some make=up and just come up with something. fun. viola's was last minute so we just bought it. halloween was suppose to be the day of her MRI(creepy huh?) but they changed it last minute. good thing though b/c it was her first time out. she was a ballerina witch.

I have to say I was *amazed* at how polite the kids were last night!! Most if not all said Happy Halloween, thank you and some even said "have a great night!" I must admit I was surprised. One lady even sent her little kid back to knock on the storm door and yell "thanks!" through the glass....

sparrow,

i think i set the trend here last night LOL. being viola is only slowing coming out with her speech we asked her what do say when somebody gives you something and she said thank. the other parents in our group started making their kids say thank you. not only was it right for viola to learn manners but it was just to get her talking to other ppl. she started to bond with our college guide that she didn't want to stay near us. LOL i am just so happy her first halloween trick or treating was just so great.

My son was Darth Vador (which we saw a lot of). Also saw many Spidermans. I didn't notice too many little girls though.

Kassia, I am so glad that Viola had a great time - awesome!:)

I only had about 14 kids last night. They all came with parents and they all thanked me for the candy. They were so sweet. Last year I had about 100 kids and a lot of them were bigger than me and came to my door after 9 pm (curfew is at 8). I turned off the lights but they kept knocking until I opened it. I wish I ould have had more this year, I enjoy seeing them in their costumes.

Yes, the kids were very polite. It's funny because my best friend and I were just talking about how rude kids are these days. I guess my words came back to bite me in the behind!

I tried a little experiment last night. I allowed the kids to take the treats right out of the bowl themselves. I figured they'd grab a handful but they didn't--most of them only took one piece. I had to tell them it was okay to take two pieces. :)
