the gym vs cathe

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone does a gym workout somedays and cathe other days. I love the cathe videos but I also like the gym. What would you do?

*raises hand* that's me! I love a bit of both. My husband gets a corp rate so we belong. Plus they have a babysitting room so I can do my thing and my son gets to play. I think overall it breaks up the boredom & makes me look forward to both :)

I like variety too. I have only tried the new workouts one time only since I have been teaching bootcamp at the ymca.

I do lots of cardio at the gym-mostly running w/some elliptical and a few classes. I do the vast majority of my weights at home with Cathe. I thoroughly enjoy Cathe cardio but I am just not doing it that often right now. I am always changing things up.

I agree with Deb that it breaks it up and makes it more fun. :)

We also go to the gym because of the corp rate and the fact that our basement isn't finished yet to set up our gym. Only problem, I get 2 hours off with the kids in the daycare. I tend to relax on the treadmill and read a mag or watch the TVs:( Gotta work off these holiday pounds!

That's so funny Wendy, I do the exact opposite! Most of my cardio is done at home w/Cathe, & most of my weight training is done at the gym (other than core & circuit). And I've found Cathe's cardio workouts MUCH more intense than anything at the gym, classes & machines included.

I really can't do Cathe's weighted workouts at home b/c I don't have any place to store the stuff (I've already crammed in about as much as I can w/the stability ball, step, a few med balls & hand weights). Also I love the variety of weight training at the gym--free weights, machines, etc.

My routine is about 50% gym time, 50% home workouts.

I love both. I do mostly pilates and yoga at the gym. As a stay at home mom with kids in school it is nice to get out of the house.

I miss the gym on some days and wish I could go back to doing both. I'm more consistent (isn't that weird) exercising at home, b/c I can do it on MY schedule. I was always getting to the gym at the most crowded time and some nights I just didn't get as good of a workout as I wanted. I miss some of the classes I took though. I don't miss the "help" and "advice" given by some of the macho men nor the stares like are you done with that machine yet. Also, to afford a gym membership I would need to quit buying workouts (and that ain't gonna happen anytime soon)!

I just joined a gym after a few years away. I love working out at home, but it was getting dangerous, since my workout area is in the family room and the kids want to workout with me. DH and I were afraid someone was going to drop a weight on themselves or have an accident with the treadmill... I LOVE gyms - pre-kids, I always had a membership somewhere, but money and time issues kind of interfered.

Now, I found an affordable one that has a child watch area with an indoor playground and lots of stuff for them to do. I can work out with 100% focus on what I'm doing and I know they're having a good time, too. In fact, some days, they're the ones who ask me when we're going, so we have to go :)

I still use my home stuff off and on - it's a great back up when the kids are otherwise occupied. I know I'll get back to more Cathe one of these days, it's just a matter of doing what you can and keeping it interesting!

I don't do the gym. The gyms I have tried in my area are not very clean and we had a peeping tom who put a camera in the women's locker room! EWWWWW! Thank God for Cathe! :)

I don't belong to a gym but I workout regularly doing a fitness bootcamp 3 days a week. I'm not a gym person but love bootcamp as we do many untraditional workouts. We either workout outside or indoors (in a building that has no air conditioning or heat). I love it. The rest of the time, I work out at home. I love the fact that I have met some really cool people and found out that I really am strong and fit. I'm 45 and can kick the butts of the 20-somethings.
