The False Fat Diet

Has anyone read this book? Followed this plan? I started reading it last night and have found it to be absolutely amazing. It explains so much about our weight and health problems. I would highly recommend it.

If you're interested, you can find out more about it here:

Angela, I think your onto something here. I have been on an incredibly strict diet due to reoccurant breast infections that began when I lived in our moldy home. I have to keep my carbs low, no sugar, no fruit, no honey, very little grains, very little beans, no meat, NO dairy, it doesn't leave too much to eat. I live on salads with a little olive oil or flax oil dressing, I'm having a terrible time trying to get protein into my diet (feel like I'm starving on the S&H rotation). I am taking veggie protein powder and protein bars that are lo carb,2 grams, protein 31, and sugar, 2 grams (which comes from glycerine, no other sweetener) from BIOCHEM (they have soy protein and some whey protein in them which I wish they would leave out, that's the only dairy I get and I only eat one every few days). I have added some fish once in a while to add protein. Anyway, last week I crashed on the diet and made some apple slices (ground spelt crust, only a tad of honey to sweeten) and I ate some meatless chili (it had some ketchup which is always sweetened). I ate more grains throughout the week, just an all out crummy week for me. The result was incredible digestion disruption (almost severe cramping) and my stomach is so bloated it looks fat. I have pretty flat abs, but you'd never know it this week. Today, I'm determined to get back on the wagon and straighten out my diet, cause it affects me so strongly.

I am going to order your book through interlibrary loan and I can't wait to get it. Does it mention candida problems?? Thanks for sharing this, it may an answer to prayer here!!!

Yes, Briee, he talks about candida and the need to rebalance the gut's natural flora. He talks about leaky gut, PMS and hormonal imbalances, allergic reactions, the addictive quality of certain foods - it's an amazing, eye-opening book.

I kept reading parts aloud to my husband and saying, "That's me!" It answers so many questions I've had and confirms many suspicions regarding my health and weight problems. Let me know what you think of it once you've taken a look!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-20-02 AT 08:41PM (Est)[p]Yes, I bought this book based on the recommendation of a Cathe forum member a few years back. My allergy doctor has me on a candida control eating plan, which is one of the plans in the book. Several years ago, I had gained 60 pounds despite diligent workouts and what appeared to be "healthy eating." I was just eating the wrong foods for me. In 3 months I lost about 45 pounds and kept most of it off since. When I start to eat things I know I shouldn't, the weight starts to sneak on and I go back to the plan.
I personally think this book makes sound medical sense. THe only down side is the eating plans are a LOT of effort and for many people the task is daunting. I know it was very hard for me, and still is, but worth it.
I also found Dr. Haas' book to be very comforting--the whole "it's truly not your fault" message is a blessing.

I just visited amazon.com to check out this book, and there are several copies available at a bargain price ($4.99!).

Yes! My husband discovered that. We have so many friends and family that want to read it, we decided to purchase our own copy. (The one I'm reading now is from the local library.) Isn't that a great deal?

My husband suffers from allergies and awful seasonal sinus headaches - he's found some relief from dropping wheat and dairy from his diet, but we suspect there are other foods he needs to eliminate. We're both going to try the diet.
