OK...who's sore today and from what?

I did Gym Style, Chest & Triceps yesterday. All 72 push ups on my toes, and increased my weights for the flat bench work to 20 pounders. My entire chest area is sore and feeling OH SO GOOD.

Now, get this, my lower abs are sore as well, and I did no ab work at all yesterday. Could it really be from all those push ups?

I am doing the October rotation...

I did LL on Sunday along with the first day of the rotation which was shoulder/back/biceps. I don't have the GS series so I used CTX UBS and did the segments twice with heavy weight. Not really sore from the upper body work for some reason by my legs and butt are ON FIRE from LL! }( }( }(
 
Hello. I too am sore from 5 sets of 20 pushups on toes, followed by heavy chest work. 3 sets with 45 pound dumbbells on supine, 2 sets of 30 pound dumbbells on incline and 1 set of 130 pound barbell on decline; followed by some flye work too. I oh, so love the DOMS that follows a heavy chest workout. And yes, all those pushups are the best core work you can possibly do. Its a bonus benefit IMHO.

Oh your abs are diffently sore from those push ups without a doubt! And mine are going to be tomorrow b/c this is todays workout.
You did all of the puch ups on your toes? Good job! Im gonna count today and see how many I can do.It won't be 72!

I find it impossible to do a full p/u on my toes! Even just one! I don't get it! Am I really THAT weak? I have been doing this for 3 years...why can't I manage them??? x(

Oh well...I'll live! lol
 
I did Power Hour yesterday, thinking it would be a nice light endurance workout. Hmm, yeah... My quads are on fire right now! My shoulders are warm, too, but they feel more heavy than anything else (another good feeling).
 
PH is one of my FAVORITE workouts! But I loaned it out! Why did I loan out my favorite workouts? I got the GS and loaned out my other workouts to a friend who wanted to try them.I think it might be time to get them back:)

I have DOMS in my shoulders. First time, I think. My lats have been on fire for several days and now finially no DOMS, but will kick it back in today with Chest and Back! LOL! Got DOMS in my forearms for sure! Usually do!

Lori (& Wendy)-yes, I do all the push ups on my toes. I've been focussing on push ups since the Augsut rotation; I made it one of my goals and I reached AND SURPASSED it. It took practice, and I realized I needed to strengthen my core to succeed at push ups.

Charlotte-I just noticed the other day how my forearms are really starting to take shape...LITERALLY! No need to work them extra when you're already lifting so much weight for all the other body parts!

Suzanne-silly question...what position is SUPINE? Your chest work sounds GREAT!

Wendy-Tuesday last week I did a 4 mile run plus Pyramid Lower Body (my all time favorite combo). My hamstrings were sore till Saturday!!! I couldn't believe it! It's the straight-leg deadlifts that get me everytime! LOVE IT ALL!

I did Gym Style Chest & Tri's yesterday using 30 pounders for flat presses and 25's for inclines. My chest is really hurting today! This morning I did GS Back, Shoulders & Bi's and I'm already sore from that. Used 40 lbs. barbell for the first two sets of curls! That really makes my bi's warm!

Charlotte,

Could you share what kind of w/o you did to make your lats and Back DOM? I tried to work on those two musle groups and get some definition. But I never felt DOM in those areas. Instead, I felt DOM on my triceps and hamstrings.

I use my smith machine at home for lat pulldowns and I use 70# doing 3 sets of 15 and then I do the same stuff Cathe does in the Chest/Back slow series workout video. My lats stay sore mostly all the time and my shirts still keep getting smaller. I cannot believe it! LOL! For upper back, when you take a dumb bell behind your head as you are lying flat down on the bench, as in Chest and Back workout, you go heavy. I use 30# and Cathe uses 15# in her video. If you go really heavy, you are going to feel it next day...trust me!:)

Yeah, I know. I don't do any other workouts for my forearms. They are getting really big just from curling. I have learned that if you curl your wrist before you bring the bar or db's up, you will work your forearms more then biceps. I have been doing this, not meaning too, but it has given me bigger forearms. I work all angles though when doing bicep curls doing different exercises and so on so it is all working!

If you don't mind, could you tell me your experience about your Smith Machine? Is it the one showed in your pic albumn? How much does it cost? How big space does it require? What is the ceiling height requirement? My basement is 9-foot ceiling. I am thinking about buying the power tower. The model I like, (the cheapest one I can find) it costs almost $200. If your Smith not too much from that, I might want to use it. It seems to have a lot of functions.

Thanks! Well I started working upper body in January. Yes, as seen in picture. Smith machine got in July and started feeling muscles twitching a few days later from the first time I ever did the lat pulldowns off the machine. The twitching lastest at least 3 days. After that just noticing that my shirts are getting tighter around the upper back. The smith machine probably varies in price. I think ours was around $1700 and was not easy to put together though. It is alittle over 7ft tall and probably 5ft wide...just guessing. It would fit in your basement. Yeah, you can use the smith machine for bicep curls too with the cable or work triceps too. I have a Arnold Swartzenegger book that shows what you can do off the machine. Very helpful too.
