Thanks to the AM exercise posters!

I so much appreciated hearing from so many of you who work out first thing in the morning. Today I tried it for the first time and I actually liked it. While the actual getting up part was a bit difficult my workout went really well (I'm following the August rotation and started week 2) and I feel so excited that I did my workout and have so much of my day left! Once school starts it will get a bit harder as I will need to get up at 5:00 am in order to make it to work by 8:30-9:00, but I figure if I start a few weeks early it won't be so dramatic and shocking. I was nervous about the switch because I was scared that I would have no energy for the workouts and would either have to quit before my workout was over or I'd be exhausted for the rest of my day. So far, neither of those things happened and I feel fabulous.

Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement!
Sabine

You are welcome! Hey....how about getting up at 3:30 a.m. with me? hmmmmm????? Naaaaah! Just kidding! :p

I am on week 2 of the July Fat Loss and Definition Rotation. I did BodyMax today and was sooooo glad when it was over. My legs were feeling heavy and jellyish today because I did not eat very healthy last night!

I have to remind myself that my energy level in the morning depends a lot on what I eat the night before....sooooo eat healthy! :D

...and welcome to the A.M. exercisers club! }(

OMG - Everyone I know tells me I am crazy for getting up at 4:30am! 3:30?????????? Do you ever go to bed, or do you just stay up? You must have to go to bed at like 8pm or something!

I salute you!
:)

3:30... Wow! My dh is forever telling me how insane I am to be getting up at 4:30... Once the boys start back to school, I'll have to get up at 4am which I'm afraid will be impossible!:-( 4:30 is difficult enough!;-)

I'd like to thank all the AM exercise posters too..very motivating!, I got up at 4 AM today to workout and hope to make it a habit. It feels good to get moving this early..and I like the idea of having more time after working out to eat breakfast, shower, get dressed and ready.

Thanks all,
Kathleen :D

I go to sleep at around 9:00 pm to 9:30 pm....I started getting up at 4:00 am a few years ago when I had one child, then to make time for myself when the next child came along I got up at 3:45 am, now I have my latest addition: my 1.4 year old, and we moved into a new home in April...so now, I have to make time for myself by getting up at 3:30 am..or not have time for me, myself and I if I don't do it that way because of all my other responsibilities.

However, I balance my life very well. Example: Yesterday I did BodyMax. I was exhausted this morning so I decided to not workout and get up at my usual time, which is 4:45 am. Tomorrow is CK or Kickbox and I will be well rested to be able to do it, etc....see what I mean? Moderation is the key! he he he...I actually enjoy my solitude in the early am. Nobody bothers me! ;-)

School starts next week...I am a teacher. I have to be at school at 7:15 so last year I got up around 4:15 or 4:30 to workout. I did great for a while but there were some mornings that were so difficult for me. It is hard to make the switch, but when I think about working out after school so many things can come up...PTA meetings, working late, social engagements, open house, blah, blah, blah. I find it difficult to go to sleep by 9:00 even with getting up early, but I am going to try to stick to my early schedule! We shall see...

The getting up part is the hardest. But after the workout you will feel awesome. When I workout in the morning, I don't even need a coffee after.I could probably go all day without one.
I use to workout first thing in the morning b/c I then had all day to myself, and it was suppose to burn more fat on an empty stomach.I just read recently that it doesn't matter.B/c if you eat before you workout, your body isn't burning that b/c it is still in your stomach. You are still burning stored fat regardless.
I wish I could get back into working out first thing in the morning, but somedays I have to be at work by 6:30, so that makes it pretty difficult.
Glad you enjoyed your workout.

I would like to say Thanks also....VERY MOTIVATING.
I too made the switch from PM to AM and I have to say the feeling of exercising in the AM is wonderful.
so Thank You very much.

I am new AM exerciser too! After reading all the posts I had to try this. So far so good, I just started this week, so I'll continue to read the posts so they can keep motivating me. I am trying very hard to keep to a routine to loose my pregnancy weight!;(

Wow, getting up that early is something! I have always journaled my weight loss and fitness progress for years now, and noted that when I had the most success was when I got up before 5a.m. to workout. My club offers a 5:45 a.m. spin class that has had many of the same people in it for years now. Funny thing too, those same people seem to be some of the most fit people at the club. Just an observation....I really like your screen name: Runathon! Do you run as well? I loooooove to run, and as a person who also gets up early to workout, I find that running in the O'dark hundred a.m. hours is probably not the smartest thing to do. I will probably join a running club here soon so I can train for my next 1/2 marathon. It helps to have company on those long runs.:)

Hi there! Thanks for your nice comments about my screen name. ;)

I like to run also. However, because it tends to be dangerous out there at that time of the a.m.....I have a Nordic Track PowerTread 1750. It is really nice. I am starting to run again and find it soooooo refreshing, not so much for speed, but for time. Mind you, I prefer to go 4.5 - 5.0, speedwise for 40 - 60 minutes. I love it! No speed from me...by choice. }( Besides, Covert Bailey says this is the best way to burn fat and not muscle...to go slower for longer periods of time...I just love that guy!

It is a sacrifice to get up so early sometimes...like this morning....but, after all is said and done: you feel great!!!! :p

Wow! This is so much fun to hear of other early a.m. exercisers. Right now I get up about 4:45am to go for a walk, then I do weights at home. As it gets darker I will add a reflective jacket and whistle to my attire. I love this time of the day to work out, everyone else in the house is asleep and I've got the space/time to myself! I'll be thinking of the rest of you on my early morning walks.

Take care!

Hi Runathon! My hat is off to you - I am usually beginning my workout by 3am, I get up about 20 minutes prior. It is the only time I have to myself.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone! Take care, Lynn :)

Laventi...get back in here...

You get up at 2:40 a.m.????

Wow! What are you? A nurse?

MY HAT is off to YOU! ;-)

RE: Laventi...get back in here...

Hi everyone,
It is so nice to see that other people get up early to exercise. I usually get up abt 4:30 am to exercise except for the weekends. If I don't do it then it is not going to get done.

RE: Laventi...get back in here...

I am a Mom with two kids who never slept, never napped, etc. so that was the only window of time I could find to get my workout in. Everyone thinks I am crazy (and, I admit, I am a little!), but I love that I can spend the rest of my day doing all the other things I need to get done and I don't have to worry about slicing out an hour of time to workout and then shower. It is VERY hard on some mornings, though. And you really have to be psyched to get an IMAX or Bodymax in at that hour!! :) Lynn

RE: Laventi...get back in here...

Nice to know there is someone a bit nuttier that I am! How old are your children? Mine are 7, 6, and 1.4. :+

RE: Laventi...get back in here...

My kids are 2 and 4. My daughter (4) likes to workout too! She makes up her own "routines"!:) My son sees Cathe on the TV and thinks it is me, so I am still enjoying that while it lasts! Soon he will be smart enough to know better! (We are still think about taking the plunge on a third...)

I'll think of you tomorrow when I up in the wee hours of the morning - and I am definitely going to let my husband know that I am not the only crazy one out there!

Lynn
