Thanks for breaking my slump!

Cathe-
I recently got the new DVDs---what fun! I haven't had time to do them all yet, but I've been previewing like mad. While I was shlumping on the couch watching you do some "plunge-lunges", my leg muscles started twitching, raring to go. This is just what I needed! I've been in a slump (some unavoidable, some just bad habits) for months. In the spring, I took a sabbatical (lots of reading and researching, often late into the night, then too late to exercise ;-(), then decided to go to physical therapy for knee pain I've had off and on for years. To make a long story short, the first PT I had was very conservative, and made me lay off ANY exercise but the machine work I did with her 3x/week. The second PT (who fired the first because they had differing philosophies) decided to put me on a diagnostic machine, a isotonic? machine that did some more damage to me knee (crack and pain when doing extensions against resistance, for the third time, with the PT saying "keep on going"--they kept showing me articles later that said there was no way I could have injured myself on the machine---ha!). I stopped going to that PT soon after, went to another one who is more into "at home" exercise. (This isn't ending up very short, is it??? ;-(0 Anyway, months without regular aerobics, weight gain, having to go back to my "fat pants" (we all have those, don't we??) which are also a bit snug, and thinking I'll never get back into it. After watching the new DVDs, I decided I'm not quite up to all of them yet, but I did decide to do the "lean legs" with very light weights (and 1/2 of some of the sets, etc.). Now I've got that "sore/tight" feeling in my lower body, that feels very familiar ;-) I'm planning on doing an every-other-day rotation of lean legs and circuit max (for upper body and aerobics--with whatever modifications I need. I think I'll be using a puny little 4" platform and baby weights for a while--;-). On "days off", I plan to do lots of stretching (part of my knee problem, according to the first PT, is a flexibility problem in my left hamstring).
I know this ended up being long, but I just wanted to say "thanks" for re-motivating me! It's nice to see you again ;-)

Hi Kathryn! Nice to hear from you again. I had wondered what happened. You used to be quite active on the forum. Sorry to hear of your PT experience. That sounded like a frustrating situation. I'm glad that you are on the up swing again. You sound like you have your "come back" routine well thought out. Good for you. Based on your past posts, you have always seemed well read on fitness and weight training issues so I didn't expect anything less ;-)! I'm so happy to hear that I helped remotivate you. I wish you continued luck and success. Please keep us posted on your progress. Take care!
