Tgif<<<cheetahs>>>

Let's get this partay started quickly, right? ;)

Okay so I *almost* missed the thread and started one. Glad I took a second look and decided to read beyond the first word!:D

okay, i am REALLY not liking the "smiley" limit. i tried to post four tantrum girls on the oal thread and it told me i had five and it was too many (i can count and it was only four!)! wth? you KNOW how i like my smileys!!!

so, yesterday, i ended up doing mm ub premix and 45 minutes on the ext. i was going for speed on the ext and that was fun. surprisingly, i have some doms from mm. i was trying to go heavy, so that might be why. i am going to pick up alwyn again because i really love what it's done for me, but might wait until after the rt!!! i need to get "catheized!" i know i am going to look completely uncoordinated when i do step. hopefully, i won't fall or trip! DOH!

dallas-the posting restiction is a a pain!!! i had to remove a ton before i realized. i hope they change that because sometimes i need MANY tantrum girls!!!

christine-the psychologists startd back 23 july, the teachers atart bak on 5 august, and the kids start back on 11 august. we are there two weeks before the teachers come and two weeks after they leave. some people say it justifies our higher salaries...HA HA HA HA HA HA...WHAT higher salaries?!?! i work in the public schools for chrissakes!!! there is absolutely NOTHING to do. i know, i know...perfect time to work on my dissertation! okay! it's settled. cheetah "running" trip to aruba!!!!!!!!!!!

gloria (or is it kath? :p...oh, dear...that was nasty BUT IT'S JUST A JOKE!!!)-the bulletin board is still blank. i just wasn't into doing it. all i want to do is cover it with some colored paper (orange and blue, natch) and then put up all our posters, pics of linus, linus' calendar (yes, the pet club made a calendar and he is on the cover...my little cover boy), etc. it really isn't that difficult. i am sure i could be a lot more creataive if i wanted to, but we also don't want to make it too distracting for the students we test in there. BTW...very cool about the governor!

wt- i LOVE the idea of a fish tank! so peaceful. i am not sure if my co-psychologist would go for it with me because we'd both have to be responsible for cleaning, etc. but i'm going to speak to him about it. thre are tons of studies on the calming effects of fish. i can only imagine what linus would think with a fish tank in his office. he'd probably be mesmerized (or try to eat them)...i LOVE the cotton scent yankee hang tag for the car. it smells AWESOME. i will try the scent you told me about. as for aruba...JUST TELL ME WHEN! i can't tell you how awesome and homey the island is. how wonderful it would be to go on a CHEETAH trip!!! wendi could really teach us how to ride those horses!!!

wendi-you really did need tantrum girl!!! i am so sorry about your trek yesterday. don't count aruba out yet!!! it's relatively inexpensive to go and not very much once you get there.

jackie-did i mention hw great your house looks? i think i might have been away when you posted the photos. as for aruba, it would be a great place to have a cheetah run. we could map out a run and get ourselves t-shirts and everything!!! i'm telling you, it would be SUCH FUN!!! i think anything with all of us together would be fun.

wendy-DON'T YOU DARE BACK OUT ON THE RT!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are one of the reasons i am going!!! it will be a lot of fun. i don't know that i'll do every workout (there's something like 947 a day, right?) but just to be there with all my "friends." i hate to say this, but i think i am more excited about meeting all my friends than seeing cathe. DON'T GET ME WRONG, i LOVE her and she has been a constant in my life since 1995, but i don't want to be a bother. to get to meet her and maybe take a photo is enough. i want to spend time with my buds! if you think about backing out, you better call me so i can talk you out of it!!! btw...love the "piss and vinegar" statement!!!

karen-i hope your mom continues to get better. some people really have probalems coming out of anesthesia and others it doesn't seem to bothere at all. i am sure she will feel better once it is all out of her system. that is great about your neice. enjoy your time together.

shelly-i was happy about my time. i think if you keep up with other cardio activities, you don't lose much speed in the short time. i have found that the longer i take off, the more difficult it is. also, i have consistently found that the first run back is ALWAYS great. it's the ones after that that can be tricky. i might try a steady state today. not sure yet. i am glad to read the progress on getting your house is coming along. all that land to run. i'm jealous! HOUSEWARMING AT SHELLY'S!!! bring your trail running shoes! ;)

so, i have about an hour and a half before i have to get in the shower. i am just going to go downstairs and see what strikes me. i did weights yesterday, so this morning will be cardio. maybe another tread and climb, or just tread, or...who knows?!

i have an ALL-DAY (yuck! yuck! yuck!) staff meeting today. i am NOT happy about that. tonight, there is a bbq for my friend's birthday. this weekend, i am going up to the sanctuary to work. the lady who runs it broke her foot yesterday, so about ten of us are going to go up and tend to the animals (over 250 of them!!!). i am excited as they are all wonderful animals and i love being around them. hopefully, it won't be too hot, but ith temps hovering int he 90's all week, i'm not really hopeful.

well, maybe we wil have wireless at our meeting (we rarely do) and i can check in on all of youse at some point.

have a great FRIDAY!!!

p.s. i am having WAY too much fun with all the formatting options...it's a great way to procrastinate! gotta go w/o!!!

Lorie: Not your fault I am *BLIND* so don't apologize!:p
I am not backing out of the RT at this point. I would feel sooo terribly guilty about "sticking" my roomie with the hotel bill so I'd end up sending her my half anyway plus the cost of the RT that would be non-refundable. YIKES! Too much money for nothing if I didn't go. My problem is that I am VERY shy. I am incredibly intimidated by the thought going alone to meet 100 women all at once! It scares the you know what outta me! Plus taking the classes with all of those people when the only step I've done as of late is a little Imax 2 and some high step! I am excited to meet you as well as others as well as Cathe ofcourse but I would be much more comfortable with a MUCH smaller crowd...

Good morning & happy Friday , everyone!

Gloria :: great job pullin' a double yesterday!

Wendy :: OMG, 80+ blocks? OK, that is ridiculous. Do the people who booked it not have kids?...IA about Sunny's success. Ya know, she would be a great person to talk to and get advice from as you get your feet wet. (Hi Sunny, if you're reading this! Come back to your fan club!)...I still have a lot of sinus pressure & congestion this morning, which is kind of weird for me with/after a migraine, and just a slight residual headache. But anything beats the pain of the full-on migraine, so no complaints here!...I do understand your feelings about the RT, but thinking back to how many people were eager to meet you last year, I really believe you're going to have a great time! Writer Julia Sorel once said, "If you're never scared or embarrassed or hurt, it means you never take any chances." I stumbled upon that quote when I was beginning my student teaching (terrifying!), and it has stuck with me ever since. I think going to the RT when shyness is a factor for you is a very good thing, a very healthy thing to do. Every time you nudge yourself to take a chance, to do things that are just a little scary, it's going to empower you. And I think that's going to help you in the long run with your professional goals, too.
WT :: I'm a research junkie, too.

The Home Sweet Home scent is wonderful. I am asked all the time by students and teachers why the room smells so good. It really does make it feel "homey." I looked into Aruba for Teachers' Convention weekend in November, but the way the flights go out, it doesn't look like a trip that will be easy to schedule during the school year. But I need to wait before planning any additional getaways until I see when the surgery is going to happen...Hope today's meeting is painless.

Today is my rest day. I don't feel like I want to take one, but I know tomorrow's long run will go better if I do.

Have a great one!

This is the saddest part..YES these folks ALL have kids!!!! It's all about the money. Obviously it gets more expensive to get a hotel room the closer you are to "the action" plus they don't want to take the kids to the boards more then once or twice during the course of the week so they want to be a good distance from it. Out of sight, out of mind sort of thing. Um...if you are not into taking your kids to the boardwalk THEN VACATION SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! We went to Wildwood with them and stayed in the freakin' CREST! Not only was it so far away that we had to DRIVE to the boardwalk but it's a DRY town! My mom came with us with a friend of hers one year and they had to drive out of town to get some liquor to bring back to the hotel. They really just wanted to walk somewhere at night and have a few drinks out but they couldn't!

I gotcha on not complainin' about what's ailin' ya right now as it's *much* better then the migraine!

Thanks for the encouragement re the roadtrip. I can sure use it!

Enjoy your rest day!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...please don't worry about including me in the chat. 3 hours diff can be tough, Just let me know when you and Wendy plan one and if I can be there, I will. The ankle biter is doing well...LOL about ordering KM and then finding it!! Good job with the diet, and I do agree that you feel so much better and fuller with good food choices. Enjoy your rest day today.

Wendy..for the most part, the loose dogs I encounter are not a problem. I carry dog biscuits which usually helps! The one that scared the crap out of me was a Rottweiler. He was huge and mean. And his owner would not keep him confined. The one time I tried pepper spray on him, it was windy and it came back in my face! After that all you had to do was reach for a rock and he retreated.

Lorie..I don't like the smiley limit either! here is one for you...
15_5_20.gif

Dallas...I am not sure what difference it makes whether you do 3 Total body workouts or the splits daily?...Just because he thinks you train like a body builder you won't ever look bulky like one! I do think The Vegan Planet is a must have but you should preview it first. I like So You Think You Can Dance too! Were you not blown away about Will??? That is great the leg workout went well.

Christine...LOL about you miss having a puppy but then you don't!! I can relate! Good job getting your friend to lift...:)...Interesting about her DH, he rides bikes 5x the cost of yours???...WOW...

Gloria...those root canals were long ago, like 30 years! But I have had a lot of dental work done since then. Beau is learning "no" fairly well. That blows my mind about the book saying to treat your dog with pieces of a hot dog! I use dog biscuits myself and lots of praise. Way cool about the canoe race...Way to go with 4 miles on the TM during Pip's nap.

Jackie..I can repost Beau's pic, just let me know. Good workout yesterday.

Karen...hope your Mom is feeling better today. Good job with the 7 mile run.

Shelly..good job with ME, that is a great workout. Beau is doing good with the housebreaking, he has had a few accidents but that is how he learns...Sadie warms up to him a little more each day. I used the same weight as Cathe on LL, but sometimes endurance workouts can be a bit tougher that heavy (if you know what I mean).

I woke up too early this morning. Need more coffee. Beau is sleeping near my feet and DH has gone fishing..

I am off today and plan on P90X+ Upper Plus, Abs/core and a 4 mile run. The smoke really came in last night due to our weather conditions. The fires near are all contained but we still get the smoke. It gets quite depressing...

Have a great day...:)

Judy :: I recommend Art of Strength Providence. http://www.artofstrength.com/ I think of Anthony as the Cathe of kettlebells. But for a cheaper starter alternative, I like Iron Core Way Vol. 2.

Wendy :: IA with you about vacationing at the shore. Being close to the beach and close enough to the action was always a major consideration when renting. And yeah, out of sight, out of mind isn't necessary when parents have control. I can see why you wouldn't want to spend the full week...Meant to mention: I know you're a cereal buff, too--have you tried Nature's Path? I had been eating NP Organic Flax Plus Raisin Bran (11 g fiber, 650 mg omega 3s), and then tried the Pumpkin Granola at Jess's recommendation. OMG, love the stuff! It has 450 mg of omega 3's, 1500 mg of omega 6's, and it's low in sodium.

Carole :: Smiling @ your smileys. Glad Sadie is taking a little better to Beau each day...I can see how the smoke would be a real downer. It is a long time to wait til Christmas. But I'm so awed that it has not slowed your running at all.

I have been playing with the nutrition program, adding custom foods and planning meals for the next two days. I keep getting F's for potassium. Hunh.

Happy Friday All!!!

Cathy – if you ever need a job, I’ll hire you for sales. :p (Nah, you’re such a good teacher, I don’t want you to switch, but…). I’m still have troubles with the program, but I’m sure it’ll work soon. You are wonderful at convincing me I need something. I can absolutely understand the one time marathon thing. DH told me that the Great Wall is a four hour drive from him (if traffic is like it is in India, that’s only about 60 miles). Too funny about KM! If you want to send your extra to me, I’ll send you a check for it and shipping. I don’t have KM.

Wendi – oh I’m sorry your horse classes were moved to today so you get to get up AGAIN and drive AGAIN to the ring. I hope it’s not raining today. Ick. Oh I’d be miffed at that mom. There is NO excuse. Oh that’s horrible about shows going on in lightning and everything. Too scary! Sounds like you needed NapMax, especially with that schedule!

Jackie – We absolutely have to learn to prioritize! Kickboxing on the BOSU? How was that? Sounds like you had a fun workout yesterday!

Wendy – Great job on the run yesterday!! Hey, if you move to Cali, then you’d have me and Carole at the get go! :p I do have some friends who are not into fitness, and it’s hard to find people as dedicated as we are, but for the most part, most work out at least a little. Good job at finding the energy to do 4DS Bi’s and Tri’s! Have fun in Ocean City!!!

Karen – hope your mom is healing well!! Kidney stones are PAINFUL! Enjoy your time with your niece!!

Shelly – I’m doing ME today because of you. I was trying to think of a good total body, and you mentioned it and I thought “Yeah! That one!” Enjoy your time off and time with DH. The only issue with working out with others is that you have to set your pace to theirs, and sometimes it’s slower. But, that’s okay – it’s good to slow down every now and again. :p

Gloria – thank you re: Katrina. Oooh, that spicy jalapeno chicken sausage sounds wonderful! I’m a geek like that too – I’d be all a flutter about the visit and the TV coverage – and hey – publicity is ALWAYS good, especially that kind!

Dallas – oh, wouldn’t it be great to be able to dance?! I would love to be able to dance like the people on Dancing with Stars. Wow! Good workout and I’m glad the EXT was nice to your foot!

Lorie – I’m with you on the smiley limit! The kids go back August 11th? What happened to summer? Our kids start 2 weeks after that. I know North Carolina tried to implement a time to go back to school like that, but the resorts protested because all of the help would leave before summer was over. What a crock! I hate sitting around bored.

Judy – sorry about your kitty deleted your personals. I totally recommend “The Kettlebell Way.” I think the Extreme Kettlebell Cardio is a bit fast to start.

Carole – Oh, my cycling friend? Yeah, her DH is a pro rider. They have a bike shop in their house. It’s funny. I love going over there because he automatically looks over my bike and tunes it for me. He’s a nice guy. She’s a riot. Reminds me of the Tasmanian Devil of cartoon fame. Sorry the smoke is back. I think it’s back here, too – haven’t been outside yet.

Boy am I glad it’s Friday. We had some lay offs and a big re-org yesterday. Glad it’s over. And DD15 comes home tonight! I’m so excited to see her! I’m going to do a Spinervals Big Gear Strength this morning. Then my co-worker might stop by at noon and we’ll do ME. I haven’t done that one for a while as is. I also got my HRM’s battery replaced as it was dying on me (the guy did it as I waited – took me all of 5 minutes – can you believe that?!) The only sad note is that Kimo is not doing well. She could not keep her dinner down last night, and what’s more telling to me is that Jimmy, who is glued to my side all the time, is laying beside her igloo where she is. He’s never done that before. I’m going to work from home today to keep an eye on her. Poor little thing. Have a good day all!

Good morning Cheetahs

Lorie: I try to keep the classroom decorations down to a minimum with warm colors on the bulletin boards, nothing bright. I have read a lot of the brain based learning stuff and that is what they suggest. Enjoy the cardio.

Cathy: I liked the quote you gave Wendy. So true. I try and take myself out of my comfort zone sometimes because you never get better unless you give things a try. When I went to the river festival last weekend I really did not want to go because I knew I would have to socialize the whole time. And you know what, I kicked a@#! I had a great time. I hope you have a relaxing rest day today.

Wendy: Great you got in your workout last night. It felt good to work a little harder yesterday. I tend to be on the lazy side. I really hope you will be able to enjoy yourself on the vacation. :) IA with Cathy about the road trip. You can do this!! See my post to Cathy above.

Christine: The chicken sausage is really good and organic too. You are right, the publicity was good. Good to know I am not the only geek in the Cheetah den! ;):D I am sorry Kimo is not doing well. :( Dogs are so intuitive, aren't they? Enjoy ME today.

Carole: Sorry the smoke has you down a bit. I am freaking out because Pip went to the bathroom in the kennel during the night. She has only had a couple accidents in the house. This is VERY VERY bad. I do not know what I am doing wrong, I am training her just like I did Ellie. She is a smart dog too. I guess we got Ellie at 11 weeks. I don't know. That is sick about training with hot dogs. I have not been using the treats, but will start today. Loved your clapping smiley! Enjoy your day with your little friend.

Hi Judy and all the Cheetahs who follow!

I will being doing a circuit of some kind today. TGIF ladies!

Quiet day here.

Forgot to wish Wendy safe travels & a good time!

Christine :: Thank you for the compliment. (It was a compliment, right? *lol*) So, have you been able to log in and use the program?...*does the happy dance that DD15 is homeward-bound* That is very cool the HRM battery replacement was done in a jif. Is it a Polar?...OH NO! I'm sorry to hear about Kimo. Please keep us updated!

Gloria :: You had me smiling about kicking butt at the river festival. ITA, it's good to push ourselves. Have a great circuit workout today.

Hope everyone's having a great Friday so far.

Hi again.

Cathy: How long will the long run be tomorrow? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post. :)

I just received an email from the girl I have been telling you about who went to China. She wants to run a marathon with me. I will see her this evening so we will discuss the details then. It is on May 23. It is in a city about an hour and fifteen minutes away. It is not grandiose as I had wanted, but I think it will be great to have a training partner. She is not fickle so I think this is a done deal. YEAH!!!! I will post a link to the marathon website below.

http://www.bayshoremarathon.org/

Hope all are enjoying this wonderful day!!! :)

Hiya cheetahbabes!! Looking at 4 nights off now.... wooohoooo. I'll go spend a couple of days on the shore with my honey tomorrow, then another 3 night stretch and THEN we go to close on the house:D
After my nap I went down to the fitness center and got in 5 miles using iTread5, doin some heavy hills. I saw a personal trainer there who had a client with her... I guess she uses the fitness center as a home base. Anyway, gave me a good distraction watching.

Lorie- How was the steady state cardio today? Hey, what's WITH this smiley limit anyway????? Uh oh.... I'm down to only 2 now!!!!! You may have to do Wendy's solution and do a separate post to every cheetah to get in all the smileys you want. Yes, you do need trail runners at my new place! Hey, are you going to be at the Fri am step class before the RT by any chance? I'd love to meet ya and do some steppin together.

Wendy- You're just too cute for words... you and your "shyness". Girl, you'll be the HIT of the RT and I mean that!!!!!!! How about doing the Fri am step class before.... it'll get your confidence level up. You can come to Philly on Thurs nite before and crash at my place for free.... I'm about 20 minutes away from Cathe's gym. whaddayasay? It's okay if you can't .... just trying to give you some support and it would be fun! Cathe does NOT do any complicating moves with the step class and everyone makes the same mistakes... take my word for it!

Judy- Bad kitty!!! Was it Waldo??? Where is he anyway? (LOL)

Carole- I bet you are beyond sick of that smoke!!!! Sure hope it blows away for your long run this weekend (or are you planning one?)

Christine- Glad I could give you inspiration for today's workout! ITA it is good to slow down now and then and enjoy some socializing as well as getting in a workout. Poor Kimo!!! She's had a tough year, poor old cotton ball! Hope it isn't real serious and it's just a spell.

Gloria- Maybe I'm all wrong on this but I don't think it's all that serious that Pip relieved herself in her kennel. No, they don't normally do this but every dog is different. With my last puppy crate training (Spanky) as I recall she also went in her kennel.... actually a couple of times. And she turned out just fine. She is a total joy to us. Hope you get in a good circuit today.

That catches me up for now. I'll be doing The Next Step (Seasun) later. Just about have this one down now. Not for the choreo challenged for sure but it is FUN!

tata

Cathy- YIKES how could I forget you!!! Wise, sage advice to Wendy
(as usual) I hope you enjoy your well deserved rest day. Are you planning a cheetah chat? When????

Shelly: Thank you so much for sharing your crate training experiences! :) I thought I was being a complete failure, as I thought that was a bad sign. You made me feel a lot better. :) The training book I got from the library I didn't really like so I have found a good site on line that I have been reading today. I hope you and Wendy get to spend some time together. You two would have a hoot I am sure. Closing!!! YES! Congrats to you and DH. :) IA that the smiley limit is not cool.

Gloria :: oh, that looks like it'll be a lovely, scenic course! Great that you'll have someone to train and run it with...Tomorrow's run will be 14.5.

Shelly :: Woohoo on being thisclose to closing!...No chat's been planned--it was just a suggestion Wendy had. Would be fun sometime...Have fun with your Seasun workout.

Gloria- Glad I could help you feel better. Pip is a lucky dog to have ended up with such a wonderful family!! Your marathon looks very nice!!!! Glad you'll have a nice reliable partner.

Cathy- A cheetahchat would be fun!!! Actually I just like saying that word.... cheetahchat:p:p:p:p Uh oh.... I've used up my smileys!!!
