Terrible Ankle Sprain

In the process of opening our new store, DH sprained his ankle...Badly...I have never had one...Help??? This thing is swelled up all the way to his toes...Personally I think he needs to go to the Dr., but I'm dealing with a "manly man" here...Needless to say, there will be no Grandma's Marathon this year for him

Thanks ladies! Right now it's iced, drugged and propped...

Definitely not a doctor, but have had tons of sprained ankles playing volleyball and basketball. Swelling all the way to the toes is pretty severe IMO.

I constantly went over on mine when landing after jumps but typically would just be around the ankle area. Once I landed on my friends foot and I could hear it tear as I went down. It swelled horribly - pretty much twice its normal size. I had partially torn ligament and was casted for 5 weeks.

If it is very swollen and doesn't go down after icing and elevating tonight he may want to visit a doc to make sure it isn't torn ligaments. I think a break doesn't swell as much but am not positive about that.
