?Terminator Video?

Hi Cathe,
Of all the things you have to think about, how about one more? :D

What made me think of this idea, was when you compiled the Ab hits video using parts of previous workouts.....

Would you consider putting the Terminator, Viper and the Gauntlet on a video?
This may not be cost effective for you(?) but for those of us who cannot afford DVD's for a long while, I'm sure would love, as much as myself, having these extra intensity workouts available.

I can see the great advantage to the DVD's. I can see that is where technology is going. Yet for me, money is very very tight in the farm community where I live. :(

I just wondered if you would ever consider this? The Firm used to compile tapes from other videos. I know some complained about not having a completely "new" workout, yet the moves were put together in a different order. Well, you know what I mean. :D

Thanks for listening. You make the best workouts in the whole wide world!! :-jumpy

This was my question/request, too. I love the abs video and upperbody video from CTX, so I hope you eventually put Terminator, Viper, and Gauntlet on video as well. Please!?

(By the way, I have a DVD player, but it's too complicated for me to switch back and forth between the DVDs and videos, so I have the DVD player downstairs, and the VCR upstairs with all my exercise videos. My college library also says DVD's do not last as long as videos.)

DVDs not lasting more that videos???

Linda...what do you mean???? Are videos better - over the long term - than DVDs???? Please do let us know about this.

Thanks.

RE: DVDs not lasting more that videos???

That's what they tell me at the college library. DVDs are cheaper for us to buy and both sharper-imaged and much easier to use if you are doing film courses where you want to show clips and can flip to chapters really easily, but the videos last longer.

...and third-ed! (Is that a real word?) When I saw the descrition of The Terminator I was hoping others might ask too! No way I'll be getting a DVD player anytime soon and I hate to feel left out.

RE: DVDs not lasting more that videos???

I've worked in the audiovisual field for over 14 years. I'm sorry to tell you this, but VHS will not last as long or look as good as DVD. A major reson for this is that videotape is a thin, fragile magnetic medium that must actually make contact with the video head in order to playback. Video tapes are subject to damage by magnetic sources, dirty vcr heads, mechanical malfunctions in the vcr, and will actually get worn out with repeated use. To test this last statement, put a non-important tape in an older VCR, and fast forward and rewind over the same scene a bunch of times. You'll notice that the image becomes less clear over time, and will look like the tracking is out of adjustment. This section will never look good again. You'll also notice that your vcr will need a good cleaning of the video head.
Nothing actually makes contact with a DVD, as it is read by laser light. Scratches are the main enemy of DVD's. Library DVDs may not last as long because of careless handling by patrons. They may also be more popular than the VHS tapes, since they are more likely to be recent releases.
The important thing to remember is that no video medium at present is archival, but at least if a copy is made of a DVD, there is no loss of quality. (Note: at present it is not easy, and is illegal to make copies of copyrighted material on VHS and DVD.)

Husband of Juli!

Thank you for taking the time to clear that up! I thought I had heard (maybe even here from Chris at SNM) that DVD's lasted longer then VHS tapes! Whew, thank goodness since I have all my Cathe's on DVD's!

Lifetime guarantee

Just wanted to add that even if DVD's don't last longer (which they do, believe me, I've worn out many tapes, and have never worn out a DVD!) Cathe's DVD's have a lifetime guarantee. So, you really can't go wrong.
I know money is tight with many people, but I hope everyone realizes that you can get pretty cheap DVD players now. Probably around $100 for a decent one. There are so many advantages to having the DVD over the video (more options, better quality, and usually extra workouts ) that I feel like I'm saving money by buying a slightly more expensive DVD over a video.

RE: Lifetime guarantee

I am hesitant with DVDs, too just because the kid's CD-Roms do not last very long because of scratches.

My videos on the other hand last long because I usually just view them once, make a copy (just for me which is not illegal) and use the copy for my workouts. I usually put a week's rotation on one 8hour tape, that way I can keep the originals in a climate controlled environment and all the tapes do not clutter up my workout room (I am having 80 right now).

A 4th~ for the "Terminator" in video (VHS) format...

As stated earlier, I don't know how cost effective it is for you, so maybe it's not even a possibility, but maybe if there were enough of us "VHS-ers" making a request you could price it to be effective for you. It sounds like an awesome workout, but alas, no DVD here either. :(

What is the Terminator, Gauntlet and the other? I am curious because I really have no idea what you are talking about. Did I miss a video?
