Tempurpedic mattress & misc Q's

Winter

Hello,

I am a long time sufferer of lower back pain. I have had one surgery in 99, which was good for a while. Now I have another herniated disk and a bulging disk. If I toss and turn at night my back really hurts. Does anyone have this mattress? How much did it cost and is it worth it?

4 weeks ago I broke my foot and am on crutches. My back was really hurting for a few days but now the last 3 weeks I have no back pain. I usually have some sort of it always. I wonder if I have not taken a break from exercise long enough to reduce the inflammation in my back so it could heal? It's the weirdest thing.

Any ideas on a baptism gift? My friend adopted a little girl from China. She is one year old.

Football starts tomorrow. Go Vikes!!

Thanks for response in advance,
Winter

I used to have lower back pain quite a bit (after falling off a horse--actually, he fell, and I fell with him! luckily, he didn't fall on me!), until I started sleeping with a pillow under my knees (or between my knees if I am on my side). I got a couple of "Sleeping beans" (5-foot long pillows) that I can position in a lot of different ways to elevate my knees. Just a thought before you try the new mattress.

By the way, do you elevate your leg now that you have a broken foot? That could be the reason for the disappearing back pain.

As for the baptism gift, no ideas here. Sorry!

Kathryn,

You may be on to something. I have been elevating my legs. Sometimes just one but my back did hurt a little with just one so I did both.

Thank you for the response - a light has turned on. I will have to pay a lot of attention to your idea when I get back on my feet and start exercising. Thank you!!

Hi Winter,
I had lower back pain for yrs. due to nerve damage from an epdurial for a c-section .
Had tried every kind or bed from waterbed to hard mattress etc. nothing seemed to work until I got my Tempurpedic mattress.
I got it about 3 yrs. ago and have not had any back pain since.
The cost is about $2,000 however it is guranteed for 20yrs.
Tempurpedic will give you, I believe a 3 month trial period to see if you like it, if not you can send it back.
Hope this helps:)

Hi Winter,

I feel your pain, no pun intended. You may want to check out mattress toppers if buying a brand new mattress isn't in the budget. QVC has a line called Bodipedic that seems to have reasonable prices (I think) for toppers. Click on Bodipedic on the Brand Shops menu at the left. http://www.qvc.com/asp/frameset.asp?class=0010&cont=mhhm

What about a little Precious Moments figurine for a baptism gift? I believe they even have some that are specifically for baptisms. Good luck.

Hi Kathryn,

I mentioned that QVC has a line that Winter may like. I thought of you and was wondering how the Principal Secret line is going. Do you like it?

I've been using it for about 4 weeks, maybe, and I really like it. The "1" (half of an "11") mark between my eyebrows is less deep, and the day and night creams make my skin really soft.

Suzanne-

I am thinking about a tempur-pedic too because my bed is so uncomfortable. Did you like the bed immediately or did you have to get used to it? My DH has a pillow and I love it but I don't know if I would like that for my entire body.
Thank you-
Angie

Hi Winter,

my husband always had lower back problems and last year we decided to buy a Tempur Pedic matress. We got ours on ebay and it is not the original one, but it has the same warranty. We paid $1100 dollars for ours (King size), including the foundation and shipping.
It took us about 3-4 days to get used to it and now WOW, I never ever would give up this matress for anything, it's the greatest matress I have ever had. I used to be a really light sleeper, but not anymore. Even if I wake up at night, I can go right back to sleep, what didn't used to be the case.
My husband always used to wake up in the morning and his lower back would hurt or would be really stiff. With the new matress, he wakes up in the morning without any pain.
I also feel so much more rested in the morning and I am not tired when I get up.
I highly recommend this matress.

Hope that helps, have a great day
Kristine

Hi Angie,
It did not take any time to get used to my Tempupedic for me, my Dh on the other hand took a couple days or so. At first he was VERY skeptical about it but after a few days he just could not believe the diffence in sleep quailty. I used wake up all hunched over and with back pain now it's a thing of the past!!! The only time I do have back pain is when visiting my family, as they all live out of state and so I end up sleeping in the guest room.
I too started out with the pillow and then just decided enough was enough and went ahead and orderd the bed and told Dh to get the room ready as it was on it's way. I got the king size bed, I do believe it was one of the best purchases I have made. HTH have a wonderful day.
