teaching tips?

OK, I am starting on Monday teaching Taebo and some toning classes and am completely obsessing and am a nervous wreck. Does anyone have tips or hints or even funny stories of their first teaching experience. I just don´t know how prepared to be and feel overwhelmed.

RE: Be Prepared!

Hi, Ann in Germany! My suggestion is, use your nervous energy this weekend to thoroughly prepare and plan your classes, including flowing choreography AND cueing, so that neither you nor your participants will be lost. Say the moves and cueing out loud a few times to get your mouth around it - it's amazing how much we think we're communicating when actually we're not! Leaving as little to chance as possible about the actual structure of your class (especially Taebo, very fast and dynamic) increases your confidence - as you teach more classes, you'll be able to leave a little bit of planning behind and go with the moment.

Aerobics / group fitness instruction is a lot like s-e-x - the first time is usually the worst, so just do your best and keep at it!

RE: Be Prepared!

Hi Ann, you will find that I am no help at all! I've never taught any classes, but I just wanted to offer my encouragement & best wishes.
I'm sure you'll be fine, as Annette says, the first time IS always the hardest for just about anything!
You go girl, I'm proud of you for deciding to meet this challenge!
Ruth :)
