Cathlete
so whos rushing to the post office today?:p

every year i promise myself i'll have my taxes done by the end of february....every year i'm getting my taxes turned in by the skin of my teeth!
actually, this yr i did a little better - got the final signed paperwork to our accountant friday!

please tell me i'm not the only one!!!:eek::eek:

I had my nice, big FAT REFUNDS in my hot little hands 2 weeks ago! I get a bit earlier every year (probably because my refund gets a bit bigger each year)! LOL

Gayle

carole, im glad im not the only one!!

nan & gayle, youre my heros!
we ended up getting quite a bit back, which im not very happy about! why float the feds a loan, ya know!? i changed our exemptions so hopefully it won't be quite so much next year!

Kate,
I'm right there with you. Accountant's office called yesterday while I was at work to tell me they were finished. I have to pick up sign and mail today. I keep saying I'm going to get it done earlier, but never do.

Jean

Hey, Kate. I understand about letting them 'have' my money instead of in my pocket immediately, but with my situation I find this just works best for me.

Now....I haven't even CASHED my checks yet (I got a return from Fed AND State). I'm putting half of it away for a cruise with my kids and some friends for next year! WOO HOO!

Gayle

I usually get it done the last minute and promise myself every year that things will change. Yeah, right, just like buying my Christmas presents before December 24

I have to file for an extension this year because DH can't find his paperwork and will need to get duplicates. He put it away so I wouldn't lose it - *snicker*

My tax stuff is all scanned and organized, thank you NeatReceipts! It's his that's missing. Just sayin' :D

I stood in the long line at the post office yesterday. Today I may have to do it again for an extension for my mother-in-law. I'm really hoping to get hubby to do it. I don't have time!! I used to be better about this......

You are not alone. We have to file my husband's business taxes before our personal. Business is due March 15 (which I always forget) so our accountant automatically knows to just file our extension anyway:D

First time in years we didn't file for an extension and my accountant had them done and e-filed March 9! No refund and nothing owed. That is also a first on the nothing owed. Business was not good in 2008.

gayle, i totally get people liking the refund....i just dont!:D
yay on the cruise! so exciting! im using ours for disney next june. the girls will be so excited!

carola, lol at your dh!

beth, hope the line isnt too bad today!

have fun, lol at your cpa! mine was SHOCKED i had ours to him so *early*. early for me, that is!:p

phyllis, i hope things turn around for you!

We're usually earlier than this, but I just mailed ours off yesterday. The Gov. has nothing to crab about though ~ they owe us for once.

We also got a nice refund -- enough to allow us to convert our ICKY family room carpet to hard wood floors which are exquisite! But for us it's usually a sink or swim, depending upon how DH's business ends up at year end. Happy tax day all.

Gayle -- a what? A cruise? Oh how FUN! Can we join you? HA!

Kate -- I am right there with you. I swear every year that I'll do it early, but I never do. We're getting a big refund, too -- not only do I let the feds borrow my money, I let them keep it as long as possible. I was happy that there was literally NO line at the post office; however, I sort of consider standing in that line my penance for waiting until the last minute. This year my twin DDs (15) are old enough to harass me about waiting until the last minute -- real great example I'm setting!

Married to a corporate accountant for 19 years and it's the same thing every year - he's doing it at around 11pm on the 14th (his birthday no less). Then I get to mail it on the 15th - in the a.m. this year.

I always commend him on his love of his country for letting them have our money for so long!

Kate -- driving, dating, registering for dual credit (hs/college) summer school courses, prepping for the SAT, & looking at colleges -- yeah, it's scary!!! Surely I'm too young for this!
