Taebo 2004

Anybody seen this infomercial? Anybody order the vids? It looks pretty good. I like doing Taebo for a change once in a while.

Happy Holidays, Marcia :)

Marcia,
Yes, I have the 2004 Taebo. I absolutely love it - I have been doing Taebo for 6 years - even though he would forget to do one side or the other or move a little faster in some moves than I liked to - I did keep doing his videos and saw very good results.

But I must say this new series is much, much better and very controlled - it seems very organized and he does everything very evenly - on one disc when he forgot one side , his daughter let him know and he evened it up. He doesn't move as quickly and I think you use your muscles more.

There are four discs - the foundation - shows you the basics and the moves - I like the Energy and the Strength ones the best - actually the strength one does lots of kicks - and he has included the 1/2 pound squeezable balls which I really love - I have even used them with Cathe's Kick Punch & Crunch.

If you liked Taebo before you will absolutely love the new ones- I got mine on Monday and they are a great compliment to Cathe's new Body Blast!

Thanks for the review, Cheryl. I've been a huge Tae Bo fan since my first purchase back in 1998 and I own all of his workouts. I was hesitant to buy the 2004 set, because I was a tad bit disappointed in Cardio and Flex. I finally broke down and ordered the 2004 set on the 3rd and it should be here on the 10th.

I just bought Taebo Cardio & Flex at Walmart because they were a good price (I didn't open them yet). Could you tell me why you were disappointed?

Thanks,
Debbie

I'm not Kepi, but I also have Cardio and Flex.

The good points: there is no miscounting of sides or reps, which seems to be standard practice with almost every onther Tae Bo workout (including the "Ultimate" workouts, which are reeddited from previous workouts--go figure!). The "Flex" technique is rather interesting: after you do a certain number of reps of a move, you do a "flex" set: 7 reps, then hold an isometric contraction on 8 for 8 reps.

The bad: the intensity is quite a bit lower than the regular Tae Bo workouts. "Cardio" was rather unspectacular. In one of the workouts (Flex?) you do about 25 minutes of the workout, then there is a cool-down/demo segment that takes around 8 minutes, then you do more drills. Huh? Billy, while counting better and being more aware of balance, seems rather repressed in this workout. His usual spark just isn't there.

I have only done these once each, and will do them again because I have them, but if I had previewed them before buying, I woulnd't have bought them.

Hi Debbie. I wasn't 100% disappointed with Flex and Cardio. What I was initially disappointed in was the level of intensity. These workouts are definitely not near as intense as Billy's other workouts. But I am definitely keeping them. There are always days when the intensity level in these workouts will be perfect for me.

What I really like about these two workouts are the warm-ups and cooldowns, which are very thorough. Also, Billy does a great job working both sides evenly.

I must add that the intensity of these TaeBo 2004 are not as intense as his other series, but I feel they work the muscles better - what I do is put more intensity into it and do more reps while he is doing his "talking" - The Foundation DVD is just explanatory - but he has different kicks and punches numbered.

Since he added the 1/2 pound squeezable balls, that is better - since you squeeze it while doing punches, etc. In his warm up in Energy he does some intense side planks.

I think with the slower pace it does make for better form and higher kicks, etc. - but if you don't add to it - your intensity would be much lower.

I hope this makes sense - the strength one in this series is the best for he does the round houses slow, then faster, then you keep your leg extended doing them, then as Kathryn says you flex it at the end and hold.
