Tae Bo Live

Stacy

Cathlete
I've read the reviews for volumes 1-6 on Billy Blanks Tae Bo Live series on videofitness but wanted to hear some opinions from the Cathe audience. I'm looking for some cardio variety to compliment my Cathe step library. I've done Tae Bo at a gym before but have never done any of Billy Blanks tapes. I'm planning on purchasing 2 tae bo tapes and am looking for something very intense that wont drive my neighbors below me crazy, but that will leave my muscles burnig. Also, do any of Billy Blanks tapes require dumbbells or is it all just you and the ground??

Thanks,

Stacy

P.S. Ive heard that in some of BB's tapes he's "spiritual"...not sure exactly what that means, but I'm not looking for a prayer session during my workout other than me silently praying to myself that my muscles will endure the workout :)

I have Taebo Advanced Live 2, 3 & 5 plus two of the new Advanced Live II tapes from QVC. I personally like Taebo...I like the fact that he does a lot of kicks, and some of his tapes have some good floor work for the legs. You don't need any additional equipment like dumbbells, either. His tapes are very easy to follow, but please do the instructional tapes first. Like all fitness videos, whether you like an instrutor or not is a personal choice. I have NO problem with Billy Blanks.

I agree with HB

Stacy, I just purchased the QVC pack along with the his Advanced Live set. I really enjoy them all (so far). I've made it through 4 of the live set and all but the Impact tape that came with the QVC ones.

It's great straight forward Kickboxing and you don't need any equipment. The spiritual stuff really isn't all that heavy. To me, it's leans more toward an inner personal strength/awarness than it does towards religion. He is very motivating:).

I haven't made it to volume #11 in the advanced set yet..but that's supposed to be a favorite of many..along with 4,6,8, and 12.

Don't forget the QVC deal either..that's a great bargain. You get the 2 advanced(very good), 2 basic(still good solid 1/2 hour workouts, the 8 minute(really about 15 with warm up and cool down) and the Impact instructional that is supposed to be very good even without a bag. You can't beat the price on this..especially if you want a sample of Billy and Taebo.

Have Fun!

RE: I agree with HB

Thanks for the info thus far, but I'm really just interested at this point in the Tae Bo Advanced Live series (on videofitness they just list 6 volumes so I'm assuming there's only 6 in that series) Anyway, could anyone who has done these 6 tapes rank them for me in terms of intensity, neighbor annoyance factor, boredom, sweat dripping potential....you know, the usual stuff!! Like I mentioned before I'm thinking of purchasing two of the 6 so I want two that compliment each other.

Thanks!

Stacy

12 in the series

Stacy, there are 12 tapes in the advanced live set. If you really want some good advice, you may want to ask at VF. Mandy Lee, Debbie Stout and a few others are pretty much experts in this field. The other place you may want to find info at is this Taebo site....http://www.geocities.com/taebofans/, they review tapes there as well. I'd still recommend that you hunt down Mandy Lee and the VF Taebo fanatics at VF...there advice is pretty solid.
