Cathlete
Good morning, gals!

Belinda & Alesia....SO glad you guys got home safely. Philly is really full of DIFFERENT types of people, isn't it? LOL I've got the Rocky theme song in my head now! But I still don't think it compares to NYC!

Could you guys imagine us all in Germany? LOL What a thought.

Cheryl-I'd LOVE to hear more about you running the Grand Canyon. WOWzers! lol I will be getting more info on the hike and stuff.

Lorrie-it's getting close now!!!! I've been thinking about you everyday as this week ticks by.

Amy-How's the weather?????

Did you guys read my post from last night/afternoon about the edemame? Lorrie and Pennie intro'd me to this tasty treat this past weekend and it's DELISH and they taste SO much like pistachios! I can't wait to have my dad taste them...we used to sit together when I was a kid and shell pistachios together, then share the good stuff!

OK....keeping the momentum going. I was SO in the mood for an all-step Cathe workout, so I pulled out Step Fit (the one with the Flying Angels) and worked up to a sweaty ol' mess. I followed that with Core Max 3.

I promised the boys I'd watch Wild Hogs with them this AM...and they're pestering already. Then this afternoon we're swimming at a friend's. Tonight both boys have practice, and my "friend" is coming over...said he wants to hear ALL THE DETAILS of the RT. We'll see how interested he is once I start gabbing away! lol

BBL to check in with you all!

Gayle

Hey, Gayle, great choice of a workout! Love it!

Wild Hogs is hilarious. Have you seen it before? Good choice.

Three times I went with my running club to Grand Canyon and we did a run that went done North Kiabob and then up Bright Angel. We started at about 4 a.m. in the dark and ran the 14 down to Phantom Ranch, sat for about an hour and drank lemonade, rested... soaked our legs in the COLD river and then went up Bright Angel.

Total run is 25 miles and most of the "up" is spent hiking. But the problem with this program is that you hit the "up" in the scorching heat of day after having pounded your legs with 14 miles of downhill. That's why the extreme, extreme soreness. I vowed I would never make that run again unless we stayed overnight at Phantom Ranch to recover from the first 14 and then hit the "up" early the second day before sunrise. All 3 times I completed it I had to look back and weep a little at the accomplishment when I got to the end.

Beautiful, though. One of the years I did it we ran under a small waterfall on the way down.

So who's this "friend"? Details! We need details!

I will be doing an upper body premix of MuscleMax this morning, I think. Would love to add on KickMax, but we'll see how much time I have.

Have a great morning, everyone!

Cheryl

Mornin' T-12ers! Sounds as if you all are off to a great day. I was going to do my balance of UB work (ie GS bi's, tri's and chest) along with LIC today, but I think I'll opt for the KPC/L&G premix to allow my legs that recovery before hitting the streets on Friday morning. Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts. Please look for my dedication of days that I'll post on Thursday night before I leave.

Cheryl - that run sounds AMAZING! Do you have any pictures? I did a google search for GC fundraising events and the only one that I really found was out of the UK - huh??? Granted, I didn't really spend a lot of time looking. We'll see what we can find.

Belinda and Alesia - SO glad you made it back. I was thinking about your stay in Philly and hoped it went well. The bus ride sounds "interesting". Now that you're home you can chuckle about it.

Amy - where is that weather update girl? Of course I could turn on the TV and look for myself - but my monsters are with G'ma and G'pa this whole week and it is sheer BLISS to not turn on the TV. Isn't it funny how precious quiet time can become? It was so nice on my drive home to just turn OFF the music and not hear bickering in the back. (BTW - every time my kids start fighting in the van as we're driving I pull out that wonderful line from Low Max - I shout over them "Moaner and Groaners..." and they all say "behind me!" Cathe really is multifunctional huh?)

Gayle - YES - whatup with this "friend"? Is this the same friend with whom we decided to just be "friends"? Or is this someone else? Hmmmmmmmmm? Do tell my dear! Hope you enjoyed the movie.

Oh - and on the edamame front - get this! I was hungry after yesterdays workouts. Love the edamame and could in fact eat a whole bag. Try this - measured out the single serving and grabbed me a granny smith apple and my almond butter. (Most folks prefer peanut butter.) Slice that apple - schmear on a little almond butter and put a few of those edamames on top. Voila - crunchy, sweet, salty, and not terribly unhealthy. Also a nice way to replenish those carbs and protein.

Pennie - I love your e-mails. I know you are more of a lurker - but I hope you'll post here and keep the e-mails strong.

Jean - are you all reacclimated to home? It's hard huh? I have to tell you guys that I cried (a lot) on my drive home but thought I got it all cried out (the good thing about a 6.5 hour drive.) Then on Monday Mama D e-mailed me about that blog - and I cried all over again! UGH! I am done! Though it will be interesting to see which is harder to come down from - the RT or the 3-day. (I'm thinkin' RT)

OK - off to clean and pack some more. BBL. Hugs to you all!

Lorrie-I'm tellin' ya!!!! You will have SUCH A HIGH after your COMPLETED 3-day experience! It will be like NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING you have ever experienced before...including the RT! When I finished my Disney marathon, I was crying so hard that the medics would not let me past them to collect my medal....they were certain that something was wrong with me because I just couldn't control my emotions nor could I talk to explain that to them! LOL I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU and this walk!

My 'friend' is the dad of one of my older DS' teammates. We were getting to know each other for the past month or so. He's been VERY understanding about my recent break up with my (ex)fiance and even encourages me to talk about it. He's a really nice guy and EXCELLENT with the kids (his and mine, plus his ex's son). But I'm taking BABY STEPS, and he knows that. He's coming by tonight so he can 'see if he remembers what I look like' (his words, lol). We'll see where things go.

OK....just got done eating lunch and let me tell you...FRESH VEGGIES from the garden ROCK! We snacked on homemade salsa, a phyllo dough tomato pizza and artichoke-stuffed tomatoes. YUMMY!

Gotta run! Later, girls!

Gayle

p.s. Lorrie...that apple, edamame and almond butter sounds great!

Hi everyone. Not much going on here. I spent the last 2 days trying to catch up on lost sleep and then last night I started to come down with something. I coughed all night long and am hoarse now. I did do bicep work this morning.
I am on such an emotional roller coaster since leaving the RT. I miss you guys. That was probably one of the best weekends of my life. As for scales, I had to jump on mine as soon as I got home from the airport. I was very excited because I had a 2.5 drop since Thursday. (lowest weight since 05) I knew it probably wasn't realistic, but more due to not drinking much fluids while at the airports. I was correct, because 2 lbs have mysteriously come back. Thanks OK, because I need to focus on strength, toning and eating right and not watching the scale (although I know I will never give it up).
Talk to you later
I've got to get back to work.

Jean

Hi girls! Wow! This is the first chance I have had to checkin today because I have been running my son, Wes to job interviews all day. I started my day with S&H Back, LIC cardio and abs. It felt so good. All I could think of while doing LIC was how during the Firday morning class I was right in front of Cedie and everytime I looked at her she gave me the biggest smile! What a great memory!

Gayle - so glad you love the dried and roasted edamame. I just was at Kroger and they were sold out so I bought these beet chips. They are just dehydrated redbeets cut into chips. Nothing added! They were pretty good. They are made by the same company that makes the apple chips. I am always searching for natural, yummy snacks. If you like redbeets, you will like these. Hope you enjoyed the movie with the boys and let us know how things go with your friend tonight!

Wow Cheryl - that run/hike in the canyon sounds awesome! What an accomplishment! Hope you had a great workout.

Hi Lorrie - I did post yesterday on this checkin but you may have missed it. I answered your question about the triggers but we can talk more about that later. Your apple, almond butter and edamame snack sounds wonderful! I'll have to try that. So are you walking tomorrow or will it be a complete rest day? Can't wait to see your post tomorrow night!

Jean - I feel the SAME way! Both roadtrips were two of the best weekends of my life. Try and stay away from the scale for awhile. Maybe you can just weigh yourself weekly instead of daily. Do you know I "weigh" more than I did on the last RT but I am much smaller! Yes, focus on strength and your eating and ditch the scale!

Alesia and Belinda - I am so glad you are safely home! Can't wait to see the picture of you on the "Rocky" steps! Keep checkin with us!

Talk to ya later and miss ya!
