sweating v.s intensity

Hi Guys,
Just another question from me....thought it would be a good time to shoot some s**t.
I was feeling a little sluggish but got the energy up to do aerobics.I sat down looking at all my videos and wanted to do something different tonight.I picked my cardio breakthru tape.I have only done this video once before and I have owned it for about 6 monthes.( I am addicted to Cathe, but whose not?)
Now, my heart rate wasn't at a all time high but I did sweat buckets. My question is, do you guys think that sweating is a good way to measure if you had a good work out or not?I think I sweat more tonight then I have ina while.Normally a good work out for me is throwing up on the side walk...lol...after I just sprinted the last minute of my jog.
Just thought it would be a good question to throw out there.

Good question Lori, and before last Wednesday, I would have agreed that sweating=intensity, but I actually broke a major sweat doing pilates last Wednesday night, so now I don't know? I use to do cardio before the pilates, so I thought the sweating was just a byproduct, a cooldown leftover, etc., but last Wednesday evening, I just did the pilates and I was sweating like I was doing cardio!
I've read that sweating is how the body cools itself off, so maybe regardless of the workout, if it raises your body temperature period, your body will produce sweat to regulate it's temperature?

Good question, I'll look forward to more informed posts. :)

As far as I know, sweating is just the way your body cools itself. Some people sweat a lot with very little activity, some sweat very little despite intense activity.

On cool days, I barely break a sweat on my runs. On a humid or hot day, everything else being equal, I sweat like a hog.

I think it depends on the room temperature, your level of hydration and your fitness level.

Fit people tend to sweat EARLIER than non-fit because their bodies are more efficient at cooling the body to lower the temperature.

"Pain is weakness leaving the body."

I sweat the least when I racewalk, but I still know I'm getting a good workout, and I know my heart rate doesn't get up as high as when I do, say, Step Works.

Just Do It! :)

Hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm. I sweat very little when I work out. I always try to do something that will break me out into a sweat as then I know that I am working really hard. Having said that I hardly sweat at all when I do weights like MIS and PH and yet I feel like I have worked really hard because my muscles are exhausted. When it comes to cardio though, the more sweat the more intense I feel the exercise.

This makes very much sense b/c on days when I run that it is cool out,I don't sweat a whole lot either.Unless it is under my baseball hat.So, just b/c I didn't sweat very much, I never think, hey that was a crappy work out.I barely broke a sweat.
It just seemed to me as if I were sweating more b/c it was in my eyes.....blah..blah...blah...And I couldn't really remeber the last time I was so wet after finishing a work out.(Probably b/c I ran 4 times last week, and I am in Canada and it is not warm here now).
Anyway,Thanks everyone for your answers. It just got me thinking thats all.And boy, is it ever hard to fall asleep after you have just worked out.I never really had that probably before but last night I had to watch t.v for a little while before I could fall asleep. You would also think that if you were tired when you started working out, that you would be exhausted after a work out.But it really does rejuvenate you.
Thanks,
Lori
