Survey: Fave Mix&Matches?

Just curious what everybody's favorite Cathe workout mix & matches are!

My alltime fave workout is, of course, I-Max Plain&Simple, BUT:

I-Max Warmup +
Body Max Leg Circuit segment +
CTX Power Circuit segment

I-Max Warmup +
MIC Step Segment +
CTX Step&Intervals interval segment

I remember the days when I thought if I did bits and pieces from several workouts the video police would be after me!

Great question! I like doing Power Circuit from CTX (5 min. warm up, 28 min. cardio/circuits) and then the upper body from Body Max. The whole workout with abs and stretch is 71 minutes long - not bad! I also like doing the hi/lo from MIC with PS C/S/T one day, and then MIC's step with PS B/B/A the next day. I can't wait to hear other people's ideas! Sometimes, (you'll like this one Annette), I throw in an interval from IMax at the end of workout, so I can, as Cathe says, 'Go out with a bang!'

I've been focusing on more floorwork for legs lately. I like to do the floorwork in PS Legs followed by the floorwork in the wedding video. (with 5 lb. ankle weights per leg). For me anyway, this is a long, hard floorwork session.

I also like to do the wedding video cardio then add on the first 2 or 3 songs of MIC (step portion). I love the routine that Cathe choreographed for that song "Love Rollercoaster".

Annette, it is funny how you feel like the police are gonna come after you - what's up with that?

What a great question! I know what you mean about the video police. I used to be afraid of combining workouts, until I learned from the crowd here about how it keeps your interest up -not to mention your heart rate.

Anyway, I LOVE doing:
CTX Kickbox + the kickbox and hi-lo sections of 10-10-10. This gives me about 30 minutes of great kickbox & 10 minutes of fun, challenging hi-lo intervals. I don't own Cardio Kickbox, so this is a good subsitute.

CTX Step & Intervals + All Step.
The S&I part is way more challenging than All-Step, so this makes for a balanced combination.

Leaner Legs + S&H Chest and Back. There's no better way to completely exhaust yourself. I feel blissed out the whole rest of the day.

I also have a treadmill, so I sometimes tack on a mile run after doing a CTX.

Looking forward to reading other people's combos.

RE: Lisa - Aquajock and the Video Police

Hi, Lisa!

You gotta remember that I was the original do-EXACTLY-as-your-told type as a kid (when I read the World Book Encyclopedia and it said, "See Related Subject X" I thought that was a command, not a suggestion) - so for many years when I did video workouts I thought it was municipal, state and federal law to do them strictly as produced, rather than pulling segments out that I wanted to do. I really did think I would explode or something if I started doing my own modifications or improvising!

I never said I wasn't a little odd . . .

I am currently doing a PS/MIS rotation. On Tues, I do PS CST combined with the floorwork and abs from PS SLA. On Thur, I do the standing leg work from PS SLA and combine that with PS BBA.

RE: Lisa - Aquajock and the Video Police

Well, Aquajock, I must be a little odd too, because I was exactly the same about doing as I was told in a video. Even now I feel like I am cheating if there is something I don't do. That's probably why I like Cathe so much - she gives us permission to modify when needed :)

Althouh this week I did increase my weights during the Strength section of The Wedding Tape and so was a little more sore than usual. When my DH wanted to know why I had to say it was because Cathe TOLD me to - she says not to baby yourself.

Anyway, I currently have a limited selection of Cathe tapes (still working my way through the 1st 5 I purchased, but I will be getting more :) )

When I do mix and match I like to put the 1st portion of Bodymax with the step section of MIC.
If I have time, when I do the srtength section of the Wedding Tape, I pause after the squats and lunges and add in the standing legwork from Karen Voights Energy Sprint.
I also add an ab workout to any cardio that doesn't have one and especially like the ab section fom Bodymax.

It is fun to find out what others are doing.

Tee.

Hmmm ...

Cardio Kicks aerobic segment + CTX Kickbox arm drills
10-10-10 warm-up + CTX Kickbox arm drills + upper body strength part
Step-n-Intervals (w/o Intervals) + 10-10-10 step

I also like to combine Cathe tapes with other instructors:
MIS legs, chest, back + Cory Everson's Get Hard Arms & Shoulders
Step Max sec. 1 + Keli Roberts Real Fitness Ultimate Step sec. 3

The Step Max and Ultimate Step flow together very nicely for some reason.

RE: Lisa - Aquajock and the Video Police

I thought I was the only one who was afraid to do portions of a video. When I did LL one day and the next body max step portion then just upper body (skipping the leg circuits) I felt so guilty. But I have been trying new things lately and add from the CTX tapes: 10*10*10 with kickboxing
and I always do upper body after a step tape (in full)

Great thread! I tack on the Cathe warm up from MIS when I am doing cardio on the exercise bike. I also do the Cathe warm up from P/S CST when I am doing an upper weight routine that is not a video. I have mixed P/S with MIS - what I do is this - one day I do P/S chest/shoulder/tricep - then do MIS Bicep/BAck/Ab - then the next week I reverse it. Oh, now the video police will really get me - I don't do Cathe legs -too many squats - I don't have p/s legs - so I tack on a floor portion of another video - currently Karen Voight - Great Weighted workout - the floor work from the firm or floor work from Janis Saffel great butt and more.

It's fun to see how everyone uses Cathe's videos- the combinations seem endless.
