Hello everybody! Does anybody out there use any form of glucosamine, chondroitin or MSM? If so, do you see benefits from it? It seems like I'm having some joint pain in my shoulder and knees. I rotate all my workouts as not to over-use body parts and I really watch my form especially on squats and lunges. BUT, it seems like my left knee (on the inside right by the kneecap) gets a painful "catch" in it sometimes. It immediately goes away, but will act up again on my walks. Any ideas/thoughts will be helpful...and grateful.:D

Hi
I personally don't take any supplements for my joints, but one of my girlfriends does. She takes Joint ProMotion made by AdvoCare, and she loves it. She says it works awsome. We do Cathes' workouts together and she has no more problems. If you want to check it out on the web it's at www.advocare.com/06041343/. Good luck and hope you feel better.

I take a vegan glucosamine supplement that contains MSM and hyaluronic acid. I can't tell how much that has helped vs. other nutritional strategies I started around the same time and just exercising more wisely, avoiding torquey moves, modifying, sticking with Tony Horton type plyo moves rather than trying to jump high, watching for any bowing in of the knees on squats.

Thanks a bunch! I hate the thought of not keeping up with the squats, lunges, etc. so I too always take notice of my form, but sometimes, and all of a sudden, a painx( I'm too stubborn to stop because of it not happening all the time!

Tina,
I use GS-500 from Enzymatic Therapy. I started getting knee pain first in one and then a few years later in both whenever I would do step aerobics. Then I started hearing my knees click as I would walk up the stairs. I work at a health food store asked about this and they recommended that. I don't have any pain now even when I workout or run. It is Glucosamine that I take and I only take two a day not the three that is recommended (because of cost).

Thanks! I thought of going to an orthopedic but will go this route instead, at least for a while. The pain isn't a constant - but definitely doesn't feel right.
I appreciate your response.

I have been considering beginning a joint supplement myself. My left knee was very painful for a while. I laid off the exercises that aggravated it and got into some rebounding and now it only twinges on rare occasions but I was thinking a joint supplement would help it to be completely pain free again and/or stop it from getting that bad (or worse)again. I'm going to the store today...I'll have to check it out. :)
