Afternoon girls,

It was my weekend long run again. And I ran 12.5K today:D While running I have also decided that my weekend long run is about the distance, NOT how fast I ran it. So if you ever see me tell you about how fast I did my weekend long run, tell me to stop it. It's the distance that counts! Until I have made it to 17K anyway....

While I was running in a very sunny, 19C (66F) noon temperature I started having a headache and feeling really cold, shivering at times at 3/4 of the distance. I don't understand this.

In stead of my normal bottle of water I brought a bottle of Aquarius sports drink with me because I read somewhere once you run more than 10K ordinary water isn't enough anymore. I stopped every 20minutes to have a few sips and I drank plenty before leaving te house. Any advice from you experienced runners?

BTW, I received Cathe's new High Step w/o + Core Foundations from TLP yesterday and previewed this morning. Can't believe what JAC is doing with a stability ball. Her background exercisers don't seem very happy though.

I added on the UB split from the High Step after my run.

Oh, I also figured out what to do in stead of chin ups/pull ups in P90X. I attach the tubing on the hand rail of my stairs. It seems screwed on the wall securely enough. And I can attache it at different heights. I have to leave the living room to do it, but I'll just turn up the volume and with the breaks, I have plenty of time to get back. Ain't I clever:)

Well I'm off for a shower and a well deserved ice-cream. Enjoy your days girls,

Dutchie

Dutchie, maybe you are coming down with a cold? Or maybe there is something in your sport drink that you can't tolerate?
You are absolutey right, long runs are not for speed but for covering the distance. I'm sure you'll get up to that 17 k very soon.
Boring day for me, it's raining and there is some constraction going on my house (bathroom renovation). Anyway, 1 hr different cardio at moderate effort. Looking forward to P90X tomorrow.
I knew that you'd find a way to hook up your tubes somewhere...:)

Dutchie..I do agree with Mari about it possible being a cold. And the fact that those long runs are definitely for distance!! I have tried various sports drinks and gels myself. I currently like a drink from Crank Sports. I have the website somewhere if you are interested. I just got a gel from Accelerade that is the first gel with a bit of protein in it along with the carbs. I found on my 10 mile run today that it really helped about 5 miles into it. I had gotten so weak last week and felt great this week. Only 6 more lbs to go for me! I also did the Stretch X after my run and it was a very good stretch.

I also think Dutchie, the tubing will work well for the pull-ups. Yes Mari, I am looking forward to P90X too tomorrow and now Dutchie can share her thoughts....enjoy the day girls...:)...Carole

A cold???? I haven't had one for four years.... you really think one is about to catch up with me? Darn!!

Running gels? This running thing is getting complicated:) What exactly is a gel? I only know the stuff you put in your hair.

Carole, keep up the weight loss. BTW I lost another (metric) pound. Had 4 pieces of cake last week (lots of birthdays) and three small ice creams. Don't get this weight loss though. Maybe its my weekly mileage?

I just coudn't resist.... So Dutchie, have you got your tubes tied --- to the railing yet?:7 :7 :7
