Hey all! I am trying so so hard to give up all processed sugars. Today I am feeling really tired... I wonder if this is a sign of withdrawal. (Its only the first honest day of no processed sugar)
here's what i ate so far today:

b: 1/2 c oatmeal, 1 c milk, coffe with a dash of splenda
s: 1 lowfat yogurt (yes, fruit flavored...)
l: 2 slices whole wheat bread, 4 ounces chicken breast, 1 slice lowfat cheese, lettuce
s: 4 prunes

so what up with this? I think I am eating enough... what do you think?

thanks for the feedback all :) -Tina

If you're body is used to a lot of processed sugars, you will definitely have withdrawals. For me it lasted about 4-5 days. If you added some fruite that would probably help.

give it time.... i gave up sugar AND caffeine both at the same time! talk about serious headaches for a couple of days!

try eating some beans (kidney, black, garbanzo) good source of protein that will give you energy!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

Tina,

I gave up sugar on Ash Wednesday. I find that drinking enough water and LOTS of good protein helps. Natural sugars such as those found in milk or fruit should NOT be avoided, but beware of even Splenda, because sugar free stuff can somtimes exacerbate cravings. Try to stick with fruit only. After only a few weeks, the cadbury carmel eggs to not scream out to me anymore. THey just whisper and I say "Hmmph...go away!" and they do.

Good luck. It's a worthwhile endeavor.

not enough protein. It helps in the craving arena. you can eat more than 1/2 cup oatmeal, not the quick kind, the kind you have to cook. Sprinkle some protein in there and you good.
add to your snack of yogurt, a piece of fruit. that was not enough to hold till the next meal.
4 prunes plush string cheese or low fat slice of cheese.increase the protein. it works. Drink a protein meal replacement before bed so your sugar does not fall so low in the morning you don't want to get up.

Yes, I had sugar withdrawal too for about 4 days...dizzy and tired. I think you just need to add more protein to your diet too and try to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. I also buy sugar free jello puddings to help with the sugar and chocolate cravings...really works for me...YUM!

I think I had sugar withdrawal too. Tired...oh so tired and headaches. By the 6th day I was feeling better. I've found I'm better off if I cut out all sweeteners for awhile - as even Splenda caused a resurgence of cravings. Fruit was helpful. Hang in there, you'll make it.
