Sturdy!

Okay...I thought I would share this story. I am getting ready to move to take on a new job, and I thought it would be good to get some estimates on how much it will cost to move all of my stuff. During one of the moving representative's visit I commented that I was glad that I didn't have to move this huge TV, and the guy looked at me and said, "I don't know, you look pretty sturdy." I just laughed it off, but I am thinking I should have replied--so you must not do much of the moving yourself--right?

Oh hey, and if any of you have moving tips that you want to pass along--it would be much appreciated. I'm moving from Colorado to San Jose, CA, and I feel like a pioneer in search of a covered wagon.

Many thanks!

I'm hoping to do the same thing, and have had the same questions about moving.

I can only afford a U-Haul style move, unless I find a job that will relocate me - yeah right!

I did some preliminary research and I think I'm going with ABF - they drop a "container" off at your place, you pack it, they pick it up and drive it, and drop it off for you to unpack.

And you can find tons of moving advice if you Google "relocation" - I was fascinated by all the tips and tricks. Also, if you're interested in the ABF approach, check them out on Epinions.com - there are lots of ratings that include good advice.

Also, our local consumer guru has some good advice here:

including a link to: http://www.moving.org/ to find a reliable mover.

Good luck!

Hey thanks for the tip. A friend of mine also used the ABF service, but I am a little worried because it's just myself moving and while I have friends here in Colorado to lean on for moving help, when I arrive in California, I won't know anyone. But I am thinking if I ditch my old bed and sofa, I think I (in all of my sturdiness) could handle the moving. I guess there is a reason why moving is one of those top 10 stresses in life.

Anyway, I certainly appreciate your reply--thanks!
