Stupid question about running....

Is running considered steady state cardio?

The reason I ask; Cathe often includes running in rotations, and I am not crazy about running as a fitness activity. Ok, ok, I will admit that not only I do NOT like to run, I really just hate it. I have nothing but admiration for your folks who do this regularly, but when I get out there, I feel like I am galloping and stumbling around like a horse on crack. Also, my knees do not appreciate the exertion and let me have it for days afterwards. Now, I like walking and suppose I could do some power-walking as a sub, but I am wondering, if I wanted to sub some other, kinder, gentler activity, what would be the logical choice? Step? Hi-lo? Interval? Can you explain to me why?

Thanks for your educated opinions!

My guess is that the running recommended in Cathe's rotation would be steady state cardio, unless she includes some kind of sprints for intervals.

If you hate it and your knees hurt from it, don't do it! There are too many other exercise options to choose from! Just choose another steady state cardio (I would choose something intense on a day that Cathe suggests running in her rotation) and enjoy yourself and keep your knees happy.
