Stupid gosh-darned DVR!!!!! Ruined 24 last night

So last night I had my DVR set to record 24 and didn't rush to go watch it, because my daughter was watching a Goosebumps video. And around 9:10, I looked at the machine and saw the recording light wasn't on. Well, I immediately shut off Goosebumps and turned the TV on - but I missed the first 15 minutes of 24!!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!!

The DVR is the best invention since M&M's, but man! Sometimes it cuts the last couple minutes off of The Shield, so I have it set to record the show that's on after (which is lame Fear Factor). I can't get the thing to tape Fear Factor ONLY in that time slot, so I end up with 5 recordings of that dumb show and it's an hour long...so then all my recording space is used up and I missed the first 15 minutes of 24, last week's Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal AND Alias!!!!

And I'm babbling like usual. What did I miss in the first 15 minutes last night?? That's quite a "babe" Tony is with now, eh? Wish I was more like her.:p

Hey! I feel your pain. My VCR makes its own decisions about when it shuts off, so sometimes I get all of a program, sometimes just 10 minutes. . .

It started off pretty slowly last night, so you didn't miss much. Just Tony telling us that Michelle left him (he thinks without justification, but Jack informed us Tony pushed her away). Beruse's Evil Dad informed his bosses that "by the end of the day my wife and son will be dead." Mama and Beruse headed for a hospital. Oh, and they arrested the wrong girl at CTU and started torturing her for information she didn't have. Did you see that part?

My sources here tell me that from an article in Entertainment WEekly, we're going to find out that the real mole (the girl that used to be on Friends) at CTU isn't as bad as we now think she is. Also, that Chloe will be back and . . . Michelle? is a reconciliation for her and Tony on the horizon?

It started out slowly, but ended with a WOW last night. The car bomb and the shooting of the guy at the helicopter both took me by surprise.

DId you see the article from some magazine asking "Has this season's 24 gone too far?"
And did you notice Kiefer's PSA during the episode last night?

Ok, to work!

Anna

Yeah - I saw the part where the cute CTU girl got arrested and tortured. Acutally, they're both cute...but the INNOCENT cute one. I came in I believe when Beruz and Mom were in the hospital and Jack, Tony and whatshername got to Tony's lovely house with the dog poop in the front yard.

I did see that article about the Muslim Americans getting somewhat offended. I can totally see their point. As if they don't have enough negative publicity with what's happening in the real world, now they have to deal with Hollywood. Maybe next year, 24 should have Jack fight aliens from outer space and nobody would get offended! CTU vs. the Klingon Empire. How cool would THAT be?

LOL Donna! I also missed the first 15 minutes or so. I was doing 10-10-10 and I couldn't stop so I thought hey I'll ask about the first 15 mins in the forums. And there you are missing the first 15 mins too haha! And yeah wth did they ever show that chick Tony's with now? I know I heard her!!! **The Psycho soundtrack is now playing in the background**

Yes, they did show her. She looked like typical white-trash. Quite a step down from Michelle. Tony and Michelle are gonna get back together. Probably what will happen is the government will see how he's helped Jack and they will give him a job, then he'll be all "happy guy" again and Michelle will fall in love all over. This, of course, will all happen in the amount of time it takes you to get up and get a drink of water and go to the bathroom.

I don't have DVR, but it sounds like you can only set it to record in hour blocks?

What I absolutely hate is that some shows run one or even two minutes over the hour (Alias is notorious for this, and I think Desperate Housewives has run over as well... I think all this crap started with ER a couple of years ago), so I've missed the last part of several episodes until I figured out it wasn't because my VCR clock was off, but because the show ran long.

Kathryn - you actually set it to record a show, not by a time. I don't know why sometimes it messes up. It's because the networks aren't starting the show when they're supposed to. Grrrr!
