STS twice per week..

I havent posted here on a while and need to lose about 20 pounds. I was wondering if anyone here ever completed the STS workouts doing each dvd twice a week? I am thinking of starting tomorrow and adding a the new dvds to mix as well. Just curious if anyone had results or not so good results and if it is worth trying. I plan on strength training 5-6x a week, since I am walking alot, I may only do the legs from STS just once a week. Just looking for advice or input..Thanks, V..

I've done STS three times, and I would not recommend doubling up. They are very intense, and you need the rest. In my opinion, you would be risking injury and overtraining.

There are some people (including me) who have done a double STS rotation. I used meso one. I know a few who have have used all 3 meso cycles.
I'm a seasoned exerciser, and I know when to push it and when to back off. I did not use the 1rm. I lifted heavier on the first workout and lighter on the second round in the week.

I would post your question in the STS forum. I know Dirt Diva was one of the Catheletes who has done this successfully. This is who encouraged me to give it a try.

Wow! I had no idea some of you were doubling up. That's great. I use my 1RM, and I know I couldn't do it twice a week!

Yes, and with pretty impressive results. I think you need to know your body well though.
I'm not sure if the others followed 1rm. I've never used the 1RM.

I was just so ravenously hungry while doing it three days a week (with cardio on the others), I can't imagine how hungry I'd be doing it for six. However, I wonder if not using the 1RM makes a difference...maybe you'd end up not going quite as heavy? Now I'm intrigued!

Here is a thread discussing it. Dirt Diva posted results and useful tips post 40, page 4

I've been reading a lot on the Bodybuilding forum about a no cardio approach to gaining muscle. Many say cardio is counter productive to gaining lean muscle tissue.

I'm currently using Beach Body's Body Beast program right now with 5 days strength, and one day cardio.

I did Jamie Eason's LiveFit last year, and she is a big proponent of the no cardio/very little cardio approach. It was really hard for me to not do cardio that first cycle! However, you look at her amazing physique and can see that it must work. Thank you for the link. I am going to look into this more.

Wow,,,thanks for posting the previous thread on this topic. I had no idea so many people were interested in 6x a week using sts. I never would have considering the pyramid system. I decided to start today, intiallly I was thinking of repeating each disc twice for the week to make it a full 3 month rotation. I am going to wing it and tweak it if necessary. I was also thinking of buying the Body Beast system, because I believe it incorporates strength training 5 days a week. But then decided to work with the dvd's I already have. Thanks for everyone's input..V
