STS and kettlebell

Hi, I was wondering where my kettlebell class might fit in with sts. I just started a once a week kettlebell class and was wondering if i could still attend after I started my sts tapes and if so what days i should do sts. My class is tuesday mornings do you think I could do sts training on Mon.,Wed & Fridays? Thank you.

I'd love to hear a response this, too! I was thinking of just laying off of my KB workouts while doing STS, but it would be nice to know if there was a way to include them! :)

Hi Guys,

I do kettlebells 2-3 times per week, and I've decided to work STS around my kettlebell workouts. Six months of regular kettlebell workouts have made more difference in the way I look and my strength levels than years and years of traditional cardio/weight splits. There's no way I'd give up my kb's for anything! :)

So Janet, how do you think you'll incorporate STS with your KB workouts? Will you just add in one or two days of KB workouts?

I hope this isn't high jacking Pjreo's thread, but can I also ask which KB workouts you currently use? I have The KB Way, AOS Newport, and Keith Weber's Extreme Cardio -- I love all three of them, but would love to hear about more recommendations!

Thanks! :)

I have Newport, Weber's Extreme Cardio, and I love both of them! I also have Sarah Lurie's 2nd circuit workout, which is ok as far as the exercises go, but she rests for 30 seconds after each exercise which drives my crazy. So, I do cardio during the 30 second rests and make it a much more intense workout. I also get a lot of workouts from various forums online.

I don't plan on using STS like it's meant to be used. Between kettlebells and running, I do traditional strength workouts a couple time a week, and those days will be when I do STS. Right now I don't plan on doing the cycle where we're lifting really heavy weights and doing low reps - that type of lifting has never worked well for me. I'm just going to use the STS workouts on my regular lifting days, and I'll probably only use two of the three mesocycles. My husband is excited about the heavy cycle, so I'll leave that one to him. :p

I can send you some of the kettlebell circuits I've accumulated if you're interested. I have a whole notebook full of them! Maybe you should give me your regular email and I can send them as an attachment so we don't glob up the Cathe forums.

Thanks, Janet! Will do!

Sorry to have high jacked this, Pjreo!

I'm still eager to see what Cathe and SNM say. :)

I was thinking about this too. I'm totally hooked on Kettlebells now and I want to do it atleast once a week. Even if I have to only do STS 2x a week and kettlebells 1x a week. I don't know if that'd "mess up" everything in some way though.

Hi Jess,

I believe that as long as you're doing something that's good for your body (and we know that kettlebells are) I don't think you can mess anything up. :)

just wondering because of the "periodization" deal that your supposed to do things in a certain amount/certain order etc to get the best results. I'm not sure I get it completely I was just going to do it. ha! ;)
