<---STS Alumni Week of April 25!!!! *** --->

Just a quick post from me, I'm tired and heading to bed. DD wants to read Harry Potter as we've missed a couple of days. Just finished MMA Boxing and I was really glad it was a easier workout. So glad tomorrow is a rest day.

Cendrine I'm a piano player and learning it all over again along with dd:D DD started pianos at age 4 so has played for 6 years now. Are you going to take them to a piano teacher? So sorry that your back is bothering you again! What does the chiro say??
Maybe the holiday will help your recover.

Jo I was so impressed with Daris's time on the 5K on TBL last night! It was a good episode.

Rachael Glad that DH got into the doctor and is starting to feel. One day on antibiotics can make such a difference. Glad that work is going well.

I have a $50 gift certificate for a bookstore. I don't like buying fiction as we have such a great library close by. I'm thinking some cookbooks or books on healthy eating. Any suggestions??

Kim, I bet Cendrine would be the best person to give advice on the healthy cookbooks...She is always whipping something up!

This morning it was the ME lower body premix. Woooweee! What a tuffy! Thanks for the heads up on those low ends Kim but even though I knew they were coming, they still whipped my butt! I think I was only using about 36#'s on the squats too...Boy those are tough after you have done the rest of the reps!
I looked at my schedule and miraculously I did schedule a circuit workout for this Saturday...Boot Camp! I did not even do that on purpose. I even forgot that it was on the same DVD as ME so it is going to be in the DVD player more than not this week! I love being fit!!!!

We had to make out a schedule for the superintendent and today we are going to get to see how tough it is going to be to adhere to it. I am so proud of us for being able to do this huge job with out any out side help. I just hope we can push through to the end with out reinforcements!

Oh yea Cendrine, my white blood cells must be butt kickers too because I endured all through Dh's fevers and pink eye and so far no sign of illness! Yea vegetables and natural nutrients, right!

Better get to work.

Jo, Kim and Cendrine Have a great DAY!!!!!:D

Rachel

Hi Everyone! I was up at 6 this morning (yes early for me!) as I had to be in again for very early meeting. Tonight is spinning and water aerobics!!! Yipppeeee!!!

Kim, I agree with Rachel, Cendrine is probably our healthy eating cookbook expert, but one I like that I have is "everything vegetarian." I bought it to learn about all the vegetables I'm was ignorant about (like Kale which is now my favorite!) But it has some great recipes. They have it at Amazon. I have a couple others but I'm not home right now and can't think of the name. Oh, and I got a great one produced by Whole Foods Market; I think it's called "The Whole Foods Market Cookbook" (go figure!)and it had some wonderful recipes in it.

Rachel, you're rocking on those workouts! Keep it up girl! Boot Camp will be a great way to take you into the weekend! ;) So glad DH is getting better! Keep eating those vegetables...you should add in peppers and oranges to help your immune system (especially red, yellow and orange). They are great immune system building vegetables.

Cendrine, how's your day? How are you feeling today?

Back to work, I'll probably catch up with you all tomorrow!

Oh you guys...this is such a hoot! So after spinning (fantastic by the way) I was working with GF and another friend (who just joined, is new to exercising and needs to lose about 60 lbs); anywho...back to the story...so we had an hour between spinning and water aerobics so I was working them on abs on the BOSU. This lady who was walking through and obviously looking to join, came up to me and asked me what class this was and am I teaching an abs class as she didn't see it on the schedule and she needs one! LOL! Isn't that funny?!

In the spinning class, the instructor included a song I requested Tuesday (Radar Love!) which is awesome for doing hills and sprints combined and made note to everyone that this song was for me and he expected everyone to give it their ALL as that is what JO is doing! LOL! I worked my butt off tonight! (Why do I love that class so much?) Then Water Aerobics was especially tough (surprisingly), it's a new track and it had lots of running! Afterwards we went and sat in the therapy pool for about 20 minutes and then hit the sauna for another 15 before I headed home. This other GF also works with us and has a leg/tendon issue (not sure how it happened) but her arch in her foot completely collapsed. She may have to have surgery to repair. So she spins with us but has to wear a brace and can only ride at one speed. What matters is she's trying! So we wanted to get her into the water aerobics class which she LOVED!

Okay, no idea what I'm doing tomorrow. Oh yeah, it's my REST DAY!

Happy Friday everyone!!!!

Jo, I think that is why I am not getting sick. I take peppers in my lunch every day! I guess I am a pepperaholic. I love them all!

Just a quick one for me. It was KPC for me this morning but I woke up late so I did not get the longer workout that I was thinking I was going to get! Oh Well! I had MMA Fusion on my schedule but I thought I would change it up and do KPC since it has been sooooo long since I got to do that one and I still feel like it has been a long time cause I only did about 30 min.

Well I am already late again...lol so I better get to it.

It is supposed to be nothing but rain until Monday for us.
Hot and sticky here!

Hi Everyone! Well, as I said, today is my rest day! Not much going on! Rachel glad to hear you're a pepperaholic! LOVE THOSE PEPPERS! I buy bags of the mini-peppers and have them everyday as well!

Hello Kim and Cendrine!

Hi Guys,

sorry for not posting yesterday. I went for the x-ray like I said and even though I can't remember the terminology used, basically the L5 is pushing on the sacrum and is causing the pain. The Chiro talked to me about what to do to get it more lined up and what exercises not to do. The massage therapist had given me this one ab move to do for lower abs that was exactly the wrong thing to do in this case, but of course we didn't know that. So now I'm allowed to walk (treadmill here we come again) and I am allowed to do some upper body weight work as long as I keep my hips tucked in, so it's gonna have to be maintenance kind of lifting, because if I do heavier, the last few reps might be poor form. But I'm encouraged that I can even do some weights, although I'm not supposed to do any leg work for now. I also got some stretches to do, will ice and use antinflammatory supplements as usual and try to keep that posture! It is so tiring to keep your abs tucked the whole day through. I did no equipment abs today with some modifications and a good interval walk on the treadmill and felt good. Here's hoping that things will finally get the support needed to heal permanently. (Apparently part of this may be caused by weak hamstrings and back muscles...) not sure how that is possible with cathe's workouts keeping me well rounded.
Anyway, that is the update, thanks for all you guys' encouragement!

Kim, I have a couple of relatively recent cook books that I like. One is focusing on adding healthy fats in every meal and it's from Prevention, I think it's called the Flat Belly Diet book. (the healthy fats are supposedly helping lose fat around the stomach faster) Anyway, the recipes are very tasty at least the ones I've tried, including some snack and dessert recipes that are downright scruptious tasting. Some take a bit more time, but others are pretty simple and tasty. Another book, probably similar to Jo's vegetarian book is a book called the World's healthiest foods by George Mateljian. It is more than a recipe book, it is very educational and has become a reference book as well as a menu plan go to for me. Very simple, very healthy, very yummy recipes there too! But I don't know it a book store could get it or if you can only get it from his website, so you would have to find out about that. If you like Trader Joes, there is a book out cooking with all things trader joes, but it is not as healthy as the other two.

Jo, one of these days, they are going to give you a discount at the gym in return for doing some coaching and training on the side! LOL! How fun that you got to request a song!

Rachel, I'm so glad you didn't get dh's bugs! High five! I am so impressed with how hard you two are working on this job! You will have a well deserved break at the end of that job!

Bootcamp was on my FF rotation for tomorrow, and I am probably going to do the upper and ab portion of it and then do some walking to round it out. I'll be thinking of you, since you are doing the same one!

Good Evening Gals!

Well right now I am tired tired tired and the thought of boot camp (Cendrine;)) on my rotation makes me even more tired but I am thinking I will wake up with more enthusiasm. The weather is not helping any at all because it is hot and sticky and I am so stubborn about turning the air on. I just love the peace in having the windows open and hearing the wind blow. Although we have a few months through out the year where we can do that , it does not seem like near enough to me.

Our job is chugging along. We are going to take some pics so when we do and I get some spare time , I will post them so yall can see what I am doing or will have been doing , since I probably will not have any spare time till it is over.

I am still trying to plan a couple of quick soups for Sunday. I think I have some turkey sausage and wanted to do something with that. Maybe something white bean based and then maybe another black bean soup. I really do not have time to look up something new so I will probably just wing it. I mean it is just soup or something so I can not mess that up right...lol

Cendrine-That is terrible about the ab strengthening workouts making your condition worse. Too bad everyone could not be on the same page, but sometimes that is just how it goes, huh? I am glad that you were able to get the x-ray though and stop before you did some real damage.
Thanks for the high five because on a day like today where I feel like I have gone past my limit of exhaustion that means so much to me!

Jo-I am telling you...when I think you can impress me no more , you top your self! lol! Why oh why do you have to live at the top of my world! haha All those girls are lucky to have someone as encouraging as you to help them along...and did I fail to mention as knowledgeable.

I know that I am fit but I have learned so much from you guys...All of you! I know that I should eat healthy but yall have expanded why I should eat healthy to a far greater range and I so appreciate that! Thanks for beign there everyday!

Its funny though...when I am on the job and have been there a while like this one...people start to know I am the healthy chick...the one that gets up and works out before I come to work and the one that is grilling my food on my george foreman at lunch! I am such an example, right? lol

I better go get a shower and try to ready for one last work day of the week...The end is closer than yesterday though, right? Haha
How do you eat an elephant...one bite at a time....chomp, chomp, chomp!:p

OK GOOD SATURDAY MORNING!!!!!

It was boot camp for me this morning and I got through drill 6 but ran out of time. I gave 1 thru 6 everything I had though!!!

It is still steamy here with no rain yet. It is like a waiting game here with these storms. Last night they were north of us and there were tornado warnings and watches up there all night. Still nothing here. I don't like the weather right now though. It's very still and that is normally a bad sign. Maybe we will weather through it though;)

Better get some breakfast in me and get to work.!!!!Blah! lol

Have a great day!

Rachel

Having some quiet time while the rest of the house is still sleeping. I ended up taking 2 rest days as I really felt like I needed them. Today I'll start week 3 of the March rotation. DH is picking up the camper from storage today, the kids are very excited! DD has a birthday party to go to as well as piano lessons. So she will be tired!

Oh Rachael I hope the weather clears for you! We're having some rain this weekend and a bit cooler. How do you eat your peppers at lunch, what kind of peppers? I'm really trying to figure out some healthier food choices.

Cendrine Well I'm glad that the found what is causing the pain, it should be it easier to direct the therapy in the right way! We went to the bookstore last night and I ended up buying Tosca Reno's Clean Eating book and dd a chapter book. I still have $21 left on the gift card maybe when I get a chance to go back I'll buy Flat Belly cookbook as I saw it there.

Jo You sure have become a part of the gym! Isn't it great to workout with friends!

Happy Saturday!!! Just got up and am having some coffee before I hit the shower. I'm going to go take the Pilates class today. I'm still trying to decide what I want to start for a rotation tomorrow.

Kim, I don't know what Rachel, does but I buy those mini peppers and just eat them like strawberries! You can buy bags mixed with orange, red and yellow peppers. They are great snacks. I also buy snap peas and eat for snacks. When are you planning your first camping weekend? I know you said you were planning on some in May and here it is! ;) Oh and the Tosca Reno sounds good! I've read a lot of people really liked that!

Cendrine, oh my goodness! Nothing like unknowing self sabotage! Well, I hope now you can really be on the road to recovery! Thank goodness you can still do something!

Rachel, you healthy chick you!! Good for you that you keep setting the example at the job sites! :D Oh the calm before the storm! I hope you guys are just a little wet and not WINDY! It's rainy here today but only about 50.

Off to the shower...the day awaits! CBL!!!

I forgot to tell you that we watched Sherlock Holmes last night (on DVD). Have you guys seen that? It was good!

Rachel, I didn't realize you had to go to work today! So sorry! But I hope you make great progress! And good job getting to round 6 on bootcamp, I realized it's not bootcamp for me this week, that was last week.... I will do the upper body part of High step training, treadmill and one of STS's core workouts with modifications where necessary.

Kim, I have Tosca's book too, I forgot to mention that one. Do you have the first or second one? I didn't get her second( newest) one, but they are definitely both healthy! How fun that you get to have the camper out! When are you going to go on your first camping trip? Incidentally, the piano program we have is connected from computer to keyboard, we don't have an actual piano in the house. I don't think we'll take the kids to lessons for now, we'll just do the program which actually, as I am getting to know it better has a feature to show finger placement and stuff like that. Ds is already playing all the songs of lessons 1-5! Now I have to make sure he places his fingers right! LOL! DD loves it too, the cool thing about this program is that if it's too fast you can slow it down and take it easy until you are more familiar (I need that for myself, I can't think that fast...LOL) My older brother and sister both played the piano for years but I never got into it. When I was a kid I did the recorder and then the Ukulele. Later I tried my luck at guitar but it didn't agree with my fingers.... Then I took up the panflute which was much more up my alley. But I am going to try to pick up the piano with the kids and maybe it will help me get a little better about reading sheet music. I'm an auditory learner when it comes to music. It takes me a lot of effort to learn a new piece of music if I haven't heard it played first.

Jo, I haven't ever tried the little peppers, I cut the big peppers in strips instead. Are the little peppers at all hot? We love the sugar snap peas here too, the kids just gobble them up like it was candy. Very easy way to do veggies without cooking. I am glad too, that I can do something for exercise. With things as they are now, I will probably bring cathe's ab workouts with me to Switzerland to do at least every other day so I don't loose momentum on the recovery exercises.

I have a rather quiet weekend ahead, maybe I'll use it to start writing a packing list, I can't believe it's only a week to go now!

Oh, have you guys seen those shoes that have these funny soles that are supposed to help with your posture and claims to tone and do all sorts of things? I think Sketcher makes them. Well, I didn't really buy into them, but with my posture issue, I was wondering. I saw the office girl at the chiro wear them and it reminded me so I asked the Chiro if they were any good and she thought it might help with my issue. She proceeded to tell me that she has my size at home and can't seem to use them because of some reason and said she'd bring them in this week for me to try on and if they fit she said I could have them! I didn't notice until I looked up the price they are selling for 100.- !!! I had no idea they were that expensive! Maybe I'll trade her for some more refills of coconut chocolate treats ;)

Hi! Just home for a quick moment as today is HAIR day!!! Pilates was good, then I had to run to the mall (you guys must think I hang out there...and I do! ;) - not really). Anyway, I'm off to the appt that got canceled on me a couple weeks ago because my gal was sick. My hair is really in need of attention!!!!

Cendrine, no the peppers are very sweet! Kids would probably like them. They have bags of them at Costco.

Gotta run! CBL!

WoooHooo...We made it through the Saturday work day and now I have just one million and one things to get done before back to work on Monday! LOL
Tonight I am tackling the weeks laundry and house straightening. It is probably not going to get a good cleaning until we get done with this job!:p yuck right haha

Ok before I forget I have to tell you about something weird that happened today. I had a really restless sleep last night full of really weird dreams. I was telling dh this morning on the way to work that I had a dream that there was a skink (a type of lizard) on the ceiling in the kitchen and the cat was set on getting it ...that was all I could remember from my dream...Well when we got home today there was a dead skink in the kitchen....IS THAT NOT THE WEIRDEST THING! We do not ever get them in the house so it was just totally weird. I guess I have a little ESP...lol! Dh says I must have been sleep walking. lol

Jo-I have not seen the little peppers in the stores around here but now I am going to have to look for them.Did you figure out what rotation you were going to do?
I wish I could take about 10 or 15 degrees off our weather and send it to you that way we would both have perfect weather!

Cendrine-I am such a procrastinator when it comes to packing. That is the one thing I do not like about traveling...Probably the only thing! lol... I can not believe you are already about to be gone...We are going to miss you but I can not wait to hear all about it and hopefully when you get back and settled in , you can post pics.
How great that the chiro might give you a pair of those shoes...Is that going to be before you leave. They might help with all the walking you are going to be doing!

Kim- Here lately I have been grilling a bunch of chicken and then cutting them up into strips and freezing them. That way I can take out what I need and I do not have to rely on store bought highly processed already cooked chicken strips. So I put them in my lunch frozen and then take some chopped peppers and spinach ( I change up the combos all the time) but I grill everything on my george foreman at lunch and then make wraps or salads out of them. I can eat the peppers raw too but I sure do love a good wrap with grilled peppers and maybe some avocado in there too...yum...

On that note I better go scrape up some dinner! I am hungry! lol

I'm horrified...I just LOST my giant post I typed!!! Okay, let me try again...

Big news...drum roll...I completely changed my hair style! I'm going to have DH take some pictures so I can post for you to see. I didn't go in planning to do this so it was totally on a whim! So far all DH has said is: "It's different." LOL! I hope I can fix this tomorrow. I told her it needed to be easy as I don't want to mess with curling irons, etc. wish me luck!

Cendrine, that is so wonderful chiro is going to bring you those shoes. I have tried them on and quickly discovered they will take some getting used to. You do have to engage your core! I hope they fit and work for you! Wow...only a week to go! What's the weather like there now?

Rachel, you are totally psychic!!! It's kind of like when you think of someone that you haven't even thought about in years and the you run into them somewhere or they email you. I think that's fascinating! I still haven't decided about a rotation but now that my hair is behind me I'll focus on that tonight. I'm still thinking about doing GS or S&H on the BOSU. I'll post later tonight when I decide.

I had typed a bunch of other undoubtedly wonderful information but I forgot what that was! I don't know what key I hit that wiped out my previousl post but that irritates me when that happens!

CBL!

Jo, so sorry about your posts! How frustrating, I think this has happened to all of us!:mad:
I know exactly which peppers you are talking about at costco, I have seen them but always assumed they were spicy, I will grab some next time I go! Thanks for the tip!
How fun that you got a new hair style! Dh does the same thing to me, 'interesting' LOL! It always takes him some getting used to and then he likes it. Can't wait to see a picture if you have one to share!

Rachel, I have that happen to me sometimes too, about dreaming something and then it actually happens! Now the cool thing would be to dream it and know that it is going to happen versus having it happen and then remember oh yea, that was in my dream.... It feels weird when it happens!
I am so impressed with the grilling you do at work! I never knew that until now, I thought you prepped everything at home, but you actually cook it fresh! Yum! That is more than I would do, I think.... Hats off to you! I do enjoy grilled peppers too! I'm so glad you got your work day done, and don't you worry about cleaning the house, you are working so hard you are barely at home to make it dirty anyway! How did those soups turn out?

Okay, go to my profile...I uploaded 2 pictures. My hair is actually cuter than the pictures (really I swear!). But you can tell me what you think. It's okay if you don't like it, you can tell me the truth! It's only hair for heaven's sake and it'll grow back. I like to try something new once in a while! Tonight I like it but we'll see what happens tomorrow when I try to fix it! ;) This is the shortest I've had it in FOREVER! It feels good though!

Off to throw some laundry in!

ETA: I just looked at the picture again...the picture of my face really doesn't do it justice. The hair is cuter than that! I like having a little bit of a messy look for a change!

Okay, I still can't decide what I'm doing. But I am going to go take Body Combat (like MMA) class tomorrow.
