Cathlete
Just getting us started.
Did StretchMax as the rotation called for a stretch/yoga workout.

I've lost 5 lbs in the first week of clean eating! I think my body is really detoxing after way too many potatoes chips, ice creams, s'mores, etc over the summer. I'm feeling really good!

--->Dancing a jig and hootin and hollerin<---Congratulations Kim. I know how good a weight breakthrough can be! It sounds like you might be onto something!

Not too much going on here...we are back in the hundreds and there are still some wild fires popping up and not excluding the big one that is not yet 100% contained. I am just hoping we get through this drought with no fires around us. We do live in a "diverse" area when it comes to the people so you just never know if there is someone that is going to throw out their cigarette butts:mad: or even intentionally set a fire for some crazy reason. I am just hoping everyone has sense enough around here to not do either of those things.

Still doing yoga. So this morning, I did GS bis, back and shoulders and then went to 2 yoga classes. One was restorative so it was not too strenuous.

Cendrine-My gf's husband is going to start some decompression chiro soon and I was hoping you would tell me that it has made all the difference in the world for you. Did you continue to do the muscle relaxers too? I think that is what he is going to do. I remember you saying that you had some trouble with them...? I am really hoping this works for him. He has had the shots in his back and they did not work for him and I think he is starting to really get depressed. I just want him to have some relief.

OK better be off and get something done.

HAPPY MONDAY:D

Nothing exciting here either. Our team lost the big game yesterday so I'm avoiding email/facebook as I have lots of cousins back in my home province who are keen to rub it in.

Did GS BSB with DH tonight

Thanks for the support on the weight loss, it is motivating to keep eating clean after seeing such a good loss on the scale.

Cheering you on, Kim! So cool! It is amazing what eating clean can do for one's well being!

I did LIC today, still getting well worked out even if I don't do any of the hops and such... ;)

I had a wonderful lunch with friends, while my kids dunked in their pool, all of us had a great time. Now I'm getting directions for our Colonial Life field trip tomorrow, it should be a great field trip! The thing I'm looking forward to the most is the candle dipping!

Rachel, tell your friend to give this decompression his all, meaning to do everything they tell him and that includes not to work out if that is what they say and to do all the stretches and exercises even at home. I hope this chiro he's going to has a good PT team to help with all of that and doesn't just pop him on the machine. I would recommend he get off the muscle relaxants for the treatment. The machine is supposed to be computerized and should adjust to his muscle response, so if it seems tight, the machine will back off the pull to not aggravate things. If he doesn't get better, have him ask the chiro to check his IT band and soas (not sure how to spell this but is something in the stomach oblique area that can be thight.) I'm working on loosening my IT band at home now on a sponge roller every other day, it hurts and isn't fun but it makes a difference. They can't promise perfect results for everyone, but I definitely think it is worth a shot! When he's done with treatments and is feeling well, he should start doing back extensions (my chiro is saying that is what is going to restore the natural curve into the spine and will prevent future herniations, and even though I was scared crazy to do it because when you are in the middle of the herniation pain, that is the last thing you should do, I decided to give it a try and the herniation was so far reduced that it really did work and not make things worse like I thought. The extension works like a mini decompression, but definitely don't do this one until you have the chiro ok.... ( I sound like I know what I'm talking about, but obviously I'm just telling you what I went through and what worked for me.... ) I sure hope it will help him! Keep me updated, I'm very interested!

Sorry about the game , Kim...Although we are not really big sport fans here, my brother is and I know what a downer it can be to him.

Cendrine-I am going to pass all this info along. I hope he follows it. He is a guy and stubborn but I thinking (hoping) he is to the point where he wants to listen and take all advice. You are more than helpful and anything you share is greatly appreciated.
Have fun on the colonial field trip...That sounds like something I would love.

I have had a little bit of a sore low back the last couple of days so thought I would give it a break from the jumping in Imax3 today. I might add it on later in the week on one of the days off or I might just skip :p
I have got a good sore going on from GS yesterday so I am going to see how the Ashtanga yoga goes today.

Breakfast time!!!
Have a great Tuesday!
Rachel:D

Rachel, I forgot to tell you that when I asked the chiro when I can start doing impact workouts again, like running and jumping, he said to wait for a whole year after the completion of the program, so make sure your friend knows, the healing will continue after treatments and not to rush into it too fast...;)

The fieldtrip was awesome! This is a location in the mountains where you can also apple, pear, and berry pick, the place has colonial style buildings for everything, so it looks the part. Our group started off pressing cider which the kids loved to do with all the mashing and pressing and all! Then they moved on to dipping candles, apparently they used to make them from animal fat, but we had regular wax.... Did you guys know that 1 candle in the tavern window meant, drinks served, two candles meant meals also and 3 candles meant overnight lodging, 4 candles even hat stables....;) then they learned some manners including how 'lads' greeted 'lass's and how the lass greeted lads with a curtsy.... :D
then they got to churn butter in a summer kitchen building and grind grain in a mortar and pestle...that seemed like more work than it was worth, I would go without bread, I think!
They then got to write with a quill and ink and weave with a loom, then watch how a blacksmith worked and see some iron casting in the process, followed by some games the kids back then used to play.

After all this, I took the kids to the 'tavern' for lunch which was a fun experience because the servers dressed and talked the part and of course the tavern looked like back then too, I even signed the receipt with a quill pen...LOL!
We got to take home some caramel apples but decided to visit the store where the kids bought some fun colonial toys and I got some sugar free jam, followed by raspberry picking before leaving for home. I'm beat now, but it was well worth it and the kids had a great time!

I thought you guys might get a kick out of hearing all the fun things we got to do. We are going back again in a couple of weeks with some friends for some more different activities that should be fun too. Dh told me to order a chicken pot pie at the bakery at the beginning of the day so we can have it for dinner that night....lol ;) (they have apple pies and all sorts of other apple pastries you can order and pick up at the end of the day too... could get you into trouble...

WOW what a great day Cendrine!! Sure sounds like fun! I'm sure the kids had a great time.

I was super lazy all evening and then finally at 8pm I decided I would get my workout done so just finished IMAX3. Proud of myself for getting my butt off the couch in the end.

Still doing very well with the eating!

They did the final grade (levelling the land) of our our yard today! :D:D So we can landscape now. I think I'm more excited about getting out yard professionally landscaped than I was about the house! Hopefully the landscaper we hired can start next week, it should take about 5 days to complete.
The construction guys also took away the protective fencing around the new playground behind us and so dd and I had to go check it out! Lots of kids there, should be a good meeting place for the neighbourhood. Fun playground but the swings aren't up yet, which are dd's favourite.

It's got cold here. On Sunday at the football game, it was 32celsius, tank tops/shorts weather and today it's going down to freezing! At the playground dd asked if she could get her winter parka out for school tomorrow:(:( What a drastic change in the weather!

Did yoga stretch out your back Rachael?

Yay on the landscaping and the play ground! Nott so yay on the temp drop! It feels like fall here, foggy and cold in the mornings...
I still felt so tired from yesterdays fieldtrip that I skipped my should have beeb cc workout...
today ds's tooth is coming out... I'll keep you posted how that goes

Good Thursday morning.
We had a little fire excitement around here Tuesday night. When I was going to bed I thought I heard sirens and for some reason, totally dismissed them:rolleyes:, I guess I was sleepy. Then at about 10:30 I got a text from a friend, and since my phone is my alarm clock, I thought it was time to get up. He said there was a fire on a road that is about 4 miles northeast of us. That is exactly where my bgf lives. I got in touch with her and she said at one point they could see the glow and feel the heat from the fire. Luckily the wind was taking it away from them and also that no houses were in its direct path. DH tried to go to their house, but since we live on such a rural road, the closer he got the more congested it got with fire trucks and trucks hauling bull dozers.
I went to see her yesterday and we drove down to see if it was completely out and there were still little brush fires here and there. I think it burned over 50 acres but they got it contained pretty fast. She said the night before when it first was getting started and they drove down it looked like someone had thrown out a cigarette because the fire grew from just a little spot off the road.

I am taking it kind of easy this week so I can let these pulled muscles heal in my back. So yesterday, I did GS legs, with little or no weight. I just tried to concentrate on the motion. I thought it was still hard. LOL And I even have a little bit of DOMS in my thighs.:p
I really wanted to make up IMAX 3 today since it was a stretch day but am just starting to feel that my back is getting better so I am gonna skip it.

Kim- Sorry about the cold weather. We are supposed to be drier and warmer than usual this winter so I feel we are going to have a bunch of mild days. Of course it is the drier part that I am worried about.
I can not wait to see what a professional landscaper does to your yard. I know you will be sharing photos. ;)

Cendrine-THe field trip sounds like so much fun. I bet the kids really loved it! I think I would have wanted to participate in all the things you mentioned too. LOL I thinks its great that you had to sign the receipt with a quill pen after the day of colonial crafts and activities.
I told my friend all that you said. I think he has his first appt. next Friday. I saw him yesterday after he got off work (he's my bgf's dh) and he just looked so miserable. I am hoping this works because I surely do not want him to resort to surgery.

Have a great DAY!
Rachel

We had an earthquake at 3pm this morning! It was very quick but quite a jolt, but not enough to wake the kids!
ds's extraction went better than expected, he wanted the tooth for tooth fairy money even though he doesn't believe in her...:)

Glad everyone is safe from fires and earthquakes. Nothing really new here, eating healthy!!!:D:D and following the Sept. rotation. Going out tonight so won't get a chance to do GS Chest/Triceps but will move it to Monday. Going to a get together at a friend's place tonight so will try and stay out of the goodies!

I deciided to give ttapp a try the last two days, I don't think I'm gonna be able to do all the exercises, at least I think I shouldn't do some of them, but some I'm able to do, some are doable, others actually are tough!
Has Cathe said anything about a shipping date for the new workouts?
Rachel, does your friend have a lumbar belt with ice? He can ice 15 min every hour if he's miserable. If he has lower back issues like me he would also benefit sleeping with a pillow or two under his upper legs or between his legs if sleeping on his side. Did he have his appt yet?
Kim,have fun tonight!

Good Early Saturday Morning yall!

It took a whole week of doing yin yoga for an hr in the morning and in the evening but I think my back is finally stretching back out. I skipped out on most of this weeks rotation, Kim, so I think I am going to move the whole thing to next week. I don't have the cross train express set anyway so I was going to have to figure out something to sub.

We are having alot nicer weather as far as the temps. go so we have been outside enjoying that and right now no fire in the immediate area so we are also enjoying the smoke free air. The other day the water plane and the water helicopter flew over our house all day. I am not sure what fire they were working but their flight plan must have been right over our house. I am like a dorky kid whenever I hear them, I run outside. They are so low to the ground. Just right above the tree line.

Cendrine-He had his first appt. yesterday with the new decompression place and he said they did have a really nice PT area. He was so excited. Although he did not do the decompression yesterday. The chiro said he wanted to do his xrays first and see what is going on. He said the chiro said that he thought it was going to be much worse and he feels like he can fix his issues. I think my friend might have been in a chiro rut with his other dr. because he said he used to feel great when they got done with the adjustment and then a few minutes down the road he would start to ache and as of last night when we talked to him, he still felt pretty good. I am going to tell him about the lumbar belt. I think that would come in handy.
How did the ttapp go ?

Kim-Hope you had a great time...!!!

Off to do some yin.

TTYL

I'm glad your friend had a good first appt! I really hope it works for him! Its interesting that not all chiros seem to be on the same page, I guess herniation is a specialty in itself, and not everyone is up to date on new treatments and such, so us patients really need to keep our ears open and go find what works!
believe it ir not I am sore this morning from doin ttapp! No weights and my glutes, my tris and my lats re sore... didn't expect that... ;)
but my back is hurting a little too, so like I said I'm gonna have to modify more carefully and see how it goes.
Hi Kim!
