-->(@:STS 6 Month Alumni-Week of May 23:@)<--

Good Morning Gals!

Just a quickie to get us started this morning! I have to get ready to go to the paint store and do some more research. I want the entry way to be warm and inviting but not dark so now I am on the fence about the red!
What I am planning is to go on with a weathered gray stain...very light then I wanted to go over that with a red glaze...light also but I did not want it to be pink. It is going to be hard but I think I can do it. When I go back today I am going to look at there other glaze options!

I am getting my calendar out to write up the March rotation! Once it's in INK I stick to it! :p For the most part...lol

Jo- Sorry you lost your post...That really stinks and there is nothing more frustrating on the internet...except when you google Knotty Pine and you get a porn site...LOL! True Story!

Well I better get in the shower! Got lots to do!

TTYL

Rachel

Rachel, I nearly spit my coffee when I read knotty pine! LOL! Oh that gave me a hoot! Yes, I've had a few incidents like that! Since I'm having to use my broadband and connections are sketchy here...I'll just stick to shorter posts.

Real quick, I did want to say after 2 days on the anti-inflammatories I can tell it's already helping my heel (but maybe it's the pain medicine in there blocking it! ;))

Also, Rachel, don't forget about LOST tonight! I already told mom I have to watch it! :D

Okay, off to fix breakfast....I'll check back later!

Don't worry Jo, It is going to be a LOST-a-Palooza in our house. We have 2 episodes to watch and then it is finale time! I hope your mom is not lost with with LOST!

I am just trying different things with my stain and paint so far nothing is iron clad yet but I think I am getting closer.

I got the March rotation filled into my calendar...The only thing is that I am not sure if I have High Step Challenge and High Step Advanced. They are on the last week and I have not had time to go in there and check if they are on any of the older dvd's that I got and have not done that much.
Tomorrow is ME so I am probably going to get my butt spanked since the last time I did that I separated it out into upper and lower body. I have a feeling that by the end of the week I will be tired!

Cendrine-Has it been 3 weeks already? It sure did fly and I have missed you! lol SO I can not imagine how fast it has been for you! I hope the weather cooperates with the rest of your plans!

Kim-HOpe you are having a great holiday!

Better go check my wood samples and see if they are ready for the next phase!

Rachel

So mom and I went out looking for shoes for me per the "cushioned" running shoe list. Everywhere we went, they were OUT of my size! But that's okay, I think I know what I want and will just order them from Zappos. I'll still be able to get them tax free and of course free shipping so it should work.

I've got vegetables cooking coated with garam marsala (brought some for mom) and we'll be eating them before LOST! Mom loves to eat healthy too so she's excited to try the spice! She's never had kale so I'm going to make her a kale "something" tomorrow but haven't decided what yet.

Not much else to report at the moment; a couple of mom's neighbors dropped by to visit this morning and we had coffee...my day is all about gearing up for LOST - hope I'm not disappointed! ;):p:p I'm sure I won't be.

Rachel, good luck with ME tomorrow - I know when I did that a couple weeks ago it totally kicked me a new behind! Between those 2 DVD's, HSTA is the harder one - it's the one that has leg presses on every round...does that jog your memory? LOL? Talk about kicking your BUTT! That's one of my favorite circuits...I like the other one too...it's just those leg presses on HSTA are unforgetable!

Hello and happy day Cendrine whereever you ARE!

Kim, hope you had a fantastic weekend! I haven't done any chores yet for mom...we'll do that tomorrow. Did you end up doing lots of chores?

CBL - looking for your take on LOST!

Rachel, I just sat here thinking I'm kind of jealous of you watching all those LOST episode simultaneously. There are advantages to watching a bunch all at once. LOST-a-palooza is very fitting! :p I just hope they wrap this up fairly decent so it's doesn't leave us just craving more! I can't wait to hear what you think!

Good Morning to Yall!

It is my first Monday sleeping in in so long it feels like Sunday!LOL
Just as I thought ME totally whooped me! I kept looking at my watch thinking...It has only been 26 min...and so on! This is my first longer workout in a month and I think my body was like "HUH"! I am very excited to change things up a bit.

So Jo, what did you think of LOST? I think I heard or read somewhere that they might do a spin off with Ben. I don't know what they would do with that but I still have some questions. The Others, and at the beginning when Claire was going to give up her baby and the guy told her it would be a horrible mistake because it would make him bad...Well I guess I will just have to live with it! LOL
I am sure Kim and Cendrine are wondering What the Heck?

Sorry about your shoes but I am glad you got to find what you like anyhow.

I am back to the paint store today and frustrated again. I thought I knew what I wanted but I am not able to make the red work with the door. To me it kind of clashes.
Off to eat my oatmeal and get ready to go.

Hope yall all have a great day!

Rachel

Well Holy Cow - they still left a TON of questions unanswered! I kind of wondered at one point if everyone was dead...but then I was kind of hoping for a parallel universe scenario  So I still enjoyed it immensely but I'm still feeling....HUH?

So ME whipped ya batooty! LOL! I figured it would! Are you trying to go with a rustic red or is it more red red? I know it's hard sometimes when you can get a picture in your mind but can't quite get it! We painted our office (at home) a redish color with cream trim but it is kind of a terra cotta/rustic red blend. Looks really nice but probably not what you're going for with the wood. Anyway, good luck with that!

Mom's girls were all here for coffee and just left a little bit ago and my brother stopped by. I'm going to meet him for breakfast tomorrow. We're off now to do some errands. I'm trying to do some chores for mom but she won't let me! So I'll just cook for her I guess!

I'll CBL and see how you're all doing! Hello Kim and Cendrine! Oh yeah, today is still holiday for you Kim so you're probably not back until tonight! Hope you're having a nice time! Cendrine, I'm thinking about you every day and so glad you got to go for such a nice long visit!

Just home from the cottage. Thanks to Queen Victoria it was a holiday today. I wonder how her birthday was always on the third Monday of May?? Back to work tomorrow.:(

The cottage was fine besides the broken dock, broken boat floor, forgotton rudder for the pedal boat, sunburns, rain, woodticks, mosquitoes  SO really it was the usual weekend at the cottage. My mom complained that we don't come up enough and gave DH and BIL a long list of chores to do. The kids had a blast! One sister drove the other two crazy but we played nice, the two of us just do a lot of  behind her back. The 3 of us are triplets so we have dealt with her forever, she'll never change, she is just a difficult person. Really we had lots of fun throughout it all.

Did Insanity when I got home. Did tons of walking, and heavy chores yesterday.

Rachael Don't look too hard for HSTA, it's got a million dreadful leg presses!! I just realized that I guess I have never done all of Circuit Blast because in the rotation she only did the cardio premix. Sorry, the paint isn't working out, it sounds like you got the idea and just need to keep working at it. I have no colour sense whatso ever! Congrats on the good deals! I'm going on the shopping trip to the USA again in Sept and will stop at some of those stores.

Jo How frustrating on the post! Glad that your heel is feeling better! When are you coming home from your mom's?? You probably said but I forget. I'll have to tape TBL finale tomorrow as it's DH"s birthday and he wants to go to the local baseball game. Hopefully can watch it Wednesday

Cendrine Wow, you're finding lots of neat things to do on your holiday. YOur ds wasn't scared at driving the scooter by himself? You're going to be tired and need a good rest after this vacation. How's the back doing with all the activity??

DH's going to phone the designer tomorrow and confirmed the price on upgrading to the stain maple. If it's the $6,000 with no other costs that we don't know about it, I think we'll do it.

Good Tuesday Everyone!

Well there is definitely a reckoning going on at my house...I reckon I am going to be sore for this whole rotation!:p
My whole body is a little sore in some form or another from ME yesterday and then it was IMAX2 today. I had not done that one in it's entirety in forever! Ouch! I was even thinking about it last night and somehow got the impression that since I had been going all the Hiit's and they had made some of the other workouts easier, that by some grace I2 was going to be easier...that was a foolish thought that I realized early on! lol I got it done but by the end it was not pretty at all!

Well I am straying away from the red...I have tried everything that I could think of but nothing is clicking for me. I think because the wood on the door is one color and the floor is another and they are both totally different, it is hard to bring red into it. Plus what ever color I went with I am pretty much stuck with forever so I am totally going a different route now. I went back to the paint store and they help me find a color stain I like and then when I got home I played around with combos. I forgot my brother had given me some black stain a while back so I tried a combo of a light glaze of black with the stain on top and it gives just the weathered look I like. I will have to post pics but I am no sure if it will come across on the pictures. We will see when I am done.

So today it is a bunch of staining and maybe a black bean soup!

Kim-Well it is all about making sure the kids have a great time right!:p Having a place like that seems like a lot of work to keep up but at least yall are a bi family and do have help other than just you guys doing all the work.
Even though I am not a triplet, I do have 2 other sisters and I am sure we take turns  behind each other's backs. We do not see each other as much as you guys do though.
I did look for HSTA and did not find it...I do not have HSTC either. I may look into ordering them. One day I will probably have every DVD Cathe has out.
I am glad you have chosen to go with the cabinets.I do not think you will regret it.

Jo-It sounds like your Mom just wanted you to visit more than anything. It is nice of you to try and help her out though.
I was going to ask if you have gotten to do Travel Fit yet.? That is the one that I have not done either.
The red would have been a rustic red but now I just have a quart of rustic red glaze and nothing to paint. I told DH I have to find something to paint that color cause I love it!
I love reds and oranges but they are hard to incorporate unless you are one of the gifted and I most certainly am not! LOL I did do my kitchen cabinets in a baked brick color along time ago. They were just the cheapo cabinets but it really made them look good. The kitchen is the next major project but I want to have plenty of time off for that one. I hate it when the house is destroyed and I live in the kitchen so that is going to be a nightmare for me!

Well I better go if I am going to get started!
Have a great Day!

Rachel

Hello! Well, we ended up just messing around yesterday; went to town, looked in shops, etc. Then last night my ex-sister-in-law came over with a brand new dachsund puppy (8 weeks old). It's a minature and so cute! We had a minature when I was a kid and they are funny little dogs! So this morning we went and met my brother for breakfast, then came back and the girls were here for coffee and they all just left. Lots of visiting going on here! LOL! Tonight is TBL so I'll get to watch that and then I'll leave in the morning.

Kim, I got a chuckle about your description of the cottage! Yep, sounds like a family weekend! LOL! Since you're taping TBL I won't comment on it tonight. I hope everything works out for you with the cabinets, sounds like it might! :D

Rachel, I "reckon" you are once again reminded that no Cathe workout is easy! LOL! You're totally cracking me up! You do need to buy HSTA! Sounds like you're making headway with the stain so that's good! I am thinking about making mom my black bean/kale soup tonight and making enough so she can freeze some. I know she'll love it. Also, she only weighs 100 lbs so the soup would probably last her a year! HA!

Well time to fix a little lunch and I think we might go up to an Outlet mall that's about 20 miles away. Talk to you all later! Oh, I forgot to bring Travel Fit with me so haven't been doing anything except stretching and walking.

Good evening Yall.

Well it has been really busy around here today. I got the soup and the first layer of the stain on. Turns out making wood look old is harder than I thought. A lot of thought has to go into it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the end result though. It's too late to change my mind now..LOL!

I am one big lump of sore meat and I have MM tomorrow. Now I really see why you were so tired, Kim. This is a tough week and these are the shortest workouts. I am glad I am off work so if I need some extra rest I can take it!

Better go shower.
Have a great night!
Rachel

OH yeah Jo...I know you have probably posted you soup recipe before but if you get a chance please post it again. I would love to try it!

Rachel, you are a VERY productive girl! Aren't you glad to be doing the March rotation? I know it's butt kicking but doesn't it feel sooooo good! LOL!

Okay...mum is the word on TBL but OH MY GOSH!!!!! I am so impressed! Holy gucamole Batman! I always love the finale! The transformations are absolutely awe inspiring and wonderful to see!

Mom and I did more messing around today. We went to my favorite seafood restaurant here to have fisherman's stew. The restaurant has been here for 30 years or something and you can get this big bowl of fisherman stew or clam chowder for $4.00. Mom can only eat a cup and it's like $2.79. So $10 for both us! Then we went and visited some more people. I am worn out talking to people!

Off to bed to read. I'm leaving first thing in the morning. I like to leave early as it's easier trafficwise and I want to get home in time to go to spinning! I'm ready to WORKOUT!!! If I don't check-in with you in the morning I'll be checking later in the day! Oh, and my new workout shoes I ordered from Zappos should be at my door waiting for me when I get home.

ETA: Rachel, I'll get that recipe posted for you tomorrow!

Good Morning!

It was MM for me today and again I think I almost cried during BI's and TRI's ! My arms were on fire. It was funny though. At one point when you do the super sets for tri's , I loudly exclaimed "whoo" and she echoed me right after so that made me feel pretty good. I knew I was working as hard as she was! LOL Or vice versa!

It's grocery day around here. I am out of everything fresh so I have got to restock to keep me in check while I am around the house. I am still going to have some prepared meals that way I will not slack. If not those nights I do not want to cook I will be eating a big bowl of cereal! Not good! LOL

I am off to breakfast and then the paint store (where I think we are all on a first name basis now:D) and then groceries where I am going to kind guess what I might need for that soup, Jo. Kale and white beans! LOL

Just another quick in and out for me...I was trying to find High Step Advanced to order it and and could not find it...Is it on another DVD or a combo disc?
I saw the terminator was the featured disc this week too. Is it worth getting?

Gotta go. DH is demoing and I am cleaning!

Just got home and it was a miserable drive! Rain, squalls of rain, rain, squalls of rain the entire way! Ughhh!

Oh Rachel, I apologize if you needed the recipe before going to the store! Give me a few minutes to get my thoughts together and then I'll post it!

Here's the link to the DVD: http://shop.cathe.com/High_Step_Training_DVD_p/637.htm

The "Advanced" is not in the main title but down on the right hand corner of the cover. She made this one at the same time she was making one of the workouts for the step company so it's just always been called High Step Training Advanced (HSTA) on the forums. Uh hem...please note leg presses in EVERY round - round 4 has 2 sets!

YES, ABSOLUTELY GET Terminator!!! The Guantlet is my favorite all time circuit workout of Cathes! All three of the workouts are about 70 - 75 minutes. It is a compilation DVD of workouts from the Intensity Series (Imax 2, ME, and Bootcamp). If you love the circuit workouts this is a MUST HAVE! But if you're kind of "meh" about circuits you can do without it.

Cathe was talking to you today on MM huh? See she knows your every move! Well I forgot today was Wednesday so this is not a spinning day. Turns out I'm tired from the drive so I probably wouldn't have felt like going (sissy girl! :D).

Finished my Insanity workout and now watching TBL finale. DD heard at school who the winner was and keeps threatening to tell me. My ds is away on a band trip to Ontario till Friday.:( He is suposed to phone home tonight.

Rachael I told you that the March rotation is a doozie! IMAX 2 is my absolute favourite workout but it's not easy! Well we haven't decided for sure on the maple cabinets but the designer said she would price it out for us and we'll stop by Friday afternoon. I also wanted to double check the maple with our counter tops and flooring. What's your DH demoing? When does the next job start?

Jo I'm glad that you had fun with your mom. The puppy sounds so cute! What were you're thoughts on TBL? I'm glad that Daris is the third contestant but Koli looked very disappointed (haven't seen the winner yet).

Okay Rachel, this makes a lot of soup, but since you freeze so much I doubt this will be an issue for you. I do vary this but this is my base recipe...I hope this is the soup you're talking about since I have a couple. Also, this is very chunky so put in less vegetables if you prefer it more brothy. This is my black bean/kale soup (I make in a 10 quart pot):

1 big onion
10 or so gloves of garlic (we like lots so vary to your taste)
6 big carrots
6 - 8 celery stalk
1 pepper (whatever color you have available)
1 leek
1 bunch kale
1 sweet potatoe or yam
2 cans italian stewed tomatoes with juice
2 cans black beans drained and rinsed
Approximately 1 1/2 - 2 cartons of chicken or vegetable broth (1 carton = 32 oz) depending on how many vegetables and how broth you want it
1 carton Pacific Spicy black bean soup (32 oz)

3 tsp sage
3 tsp thyme
6 or so hard shakes of cayenne (this is optional...we like spicey)
1 tbsp jalapeno flakes (optional)
A couple hard shakes of nutmeg...not sure what this does but I add to all soups

Dice onions and garlic and saute for a few minutes in just a little bit of broth. Cut vegetables to size that would cook in about 30 minutes or whatever you like. Chop kale (I use stems also). Put all remaining ingredients into pot, bring to a boil then simmer about 30 minutes. I usually just cook until carrots are done.

I use chicken broth as it's cheaper at Costco and they don't carry just vegetable broth. I can get 6 chicken broth for the price of 2 at the grocery store. You can use water instead of broth...I've done both.

Tomato Variation: Omit black beans and black bean soup instead use Pacific herb roasted pepper and tomato soup. I love this as I love tomato everything! Also, beans still work in this if you like a tomato base. You could use tomato sauce also if you don't have soup.

Spinach Variation: use spinach instead of kale but don't put in soup until right before you serve it. This isn't as good but works if you thought you had kale and you don't! :)

Other variations: I sometimes throw in mushrooms, bok choy, gai choy or or just whatever is in the refrigerator and looks like it wants to participate! As always, I know you will take it and adjust to your tastes!

Hope this is the one you were looking for. Again, I apologize if you needed this for today before you went to the grocery store!

Oh Kim, oh Kim, OH KIM!!!! I can't wait until you see the winner!!!! I was shocked, impressed, inspired and awe struck!

How are the Insanity workouts working for you this time around? Do you find them easier since you know what to expect?

Can't wait to hear how things turn out for you on the cabinets!

OK quick in and out for me cause today is going to be busy!
Breakfast is almost done so I think I might have a few minutes! LOL
Today was supposed to be a steady stated run but since I let my MIL use my treadmill to hang clothes on:p I have no access to a jog without driving somewhere and I did not have time for that today so I did the cardio from cardio and weights instead. I find that one fun and I was looking for some fun this morning. It is not 45 min but what the heck! Tomorrow is the whole KPC so I am sure it will make up for anything today left out! :D

Jo-The drive sounds horrible and tiring! SO no wonder you did not feel like a workout. And it's no biggy on the recipe. Remember I am a woman of leisure right now!:p

Kim-I hope the cabinets work. They sound beautiful! I know you are going to post pics of all this stuff when it gets going. If you start taking them when the project starts we will get to see from the ground up!

Better go before my oatmeal dries up!
Have a great day!
