+++>STS 6 month alumni Week of June 6<+++

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
I did not get too much done yesterday. DH was under the weather so I was kind of in and out all day trying to be quite while he slept. When he finally crawled out of be at around 6 last night, he seemed to be better. He went back to bed at 10 last night and has been asleep ever since. So hopefully when he gets up he will be 100%!

So not too much going on here but I think I am going out to the lake sometime today so that should be fun!

Hey Guys,

sorry dh is not feeling well, Rachel! I hope he gets over it quickly. Time at the lake sounds nice!

I'm going to do a pilates workout today. I really like that I can stream it from Netflix! Quite a handy option when what I have doesn't fit the bill.

I ordered a hammock chair for our porch yesterday! I decided it would be nice to be able to relax while watching the kids play in the yard, so I finally ordered one. It's one where you can take off the hammock part easily to take inside when not in use so critters won't make themselves comfortable in it in the meantime....LOL! I think I am going to do some other porch sprucing up, like some nice hanging plants (I used to have them but the bugs always got to them) Maybe a nice fern or spider plant might be hardier. It's not a huge porch, but I figured I might as well make the best of it instead of leaving it bare... sure took me a long time to decide that....LOL

Dh and ds graduated to orange belt on Friday in Taekwondo. They were excited and dh now wants to join the blackbelt program. Ds really enjoys it too, I am really glad that they found something they love to do together and they both get their behinds whipped each time, so it's not easy for either of them....LOL

Hi Jo and Kim!

Nice day here. DH and I were up early before the kids so took a drive to the new neighbourhood although nothing new to see yet. Came home and did Insanity and abs, DH went for a 7.7 mile run. He's getting back into marathon training. After lunch we drove out to a historic fort/national museum for the afternoon.

Rachael You were asking about summer plans. The daycare that dd goes to (ages 5-12) provides care in the school gym before/after school and all holidays. DS used to go before he got too old. SHe loves it there, all her friends go. She will go for the month of July, while ds is signed up for 1 week hockey camp and 2 weeks of swimming lessons. I've taken the last week of July and first week of August off. DH has taken most Fridays off so we can go camping/cottage on the weekends (I don't work Fridays) Then the last few weeks of August ds will babysit dd and hopefully just relax and get ready for returning to school (and go camping on the weekends)

Cendrine Congrats to your DH and ds that is really nice that they have found a fun active way to spend time together. The porch sounds like it will be beautiful, it's so nice to have a good outdoor space to spend time in. I have quite a few pilates dvd but haven't been doing them the last couple of years, which workouts have you done??

Rachael Was DH feeling well enough to get to the lake?? When does the next job start?

Dh wanted to go to Lowe's today for some things for the vegetables we are growing, so I said I'd go along and check out if they have any hanging baskets. We came home with two humongous (word?) spider hanging plants and two very nice ferns that weren't so expensive that we would be bummed if they didn't make it. (we have never tried ferns and know they are a little difficult, but it is shady there most of the time so we thought we'd give it a try. We also got a cantaloupe plant, a chives plant and a zucchini plant to round out our veggies....LOL
I really have gotten into the spirit of decorating the porch now (poor dh.;)) But he likes the baskets, so that is a good start!
Next, I have to scrub down the walls to get rid of the little spider webs and things that get stuck in the stucco, then maybe I'll get some wall mounted planters....

Kim, the pilates workouts I've tried so far are several of the Chruch series, and a 10-min solution one as well as the mari windsor series and one other, which I can't remember. Do you know any of those?

Your summer sounds all planned out! How fun! I don't have much organized yet, better get going on that, first thing is swim lessons!

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted. I've been tied up all day with company and other things so will catch up with you tomorrow!

Good Morning all!

This morning it was MMA KB for me followed by slow and heavy shoulders. I have not done much of that rotation before so it is a real shocker. I was really waiting for this week since the one body part a day was really an interesting concept to me...so here we go! LOL

The lake was so much fun but it was really hot. I think we are getting ready for a really hot summer so there might be a couple of trips to a cold lake a little north of us right in OK. It is a lot better than the lakes we have around here. DH was able to make it. I think all that sleep healed him nicely.

Kim-Your summer sounds great. Too bad you are a couple thousand miles from me or I might have to join you on some of your camping trips. They sound like so much fun.
Work should start up in the next week or so.

Cendrine-The porch project sounds like a lot of fun. I love when I get to change something in the house. I just cannot help but walk by and stair at it.
I got my first fern this yr too. I was killing it...I am not sure how but I think I have found a good balance. I have found that mine seems to like being misted every once and a while as well as watered. That is when it seems to have turned around!

Jo-Can't wait to hear what you have been up to!

Better go reboot with breakfast!

Hi Guys,

I am still not back to working out in the mornings.... I just sleep until the kids wake me and then I don't get to my workout until usually after lunch sometime.... Oh well, at least I get to it...

Rachel, I am going to keep the mister in mind for my ferns, I seem to remember that that does wonders, now that you mentioned it... LOL!

Not much else here to report. BBL

Well the heat is on here...Jo I really wish we could get some of your rain and cooler temps...I would trade a little sunshine for some cooler weather right now. Our air is running non stop around here!

Not too much going on around here. Another day I should have done something and did not do too much of anything. I think it might have to do with me sleeping in a little and then feeling like the day is almost over when I get done with my workout. Even though it is just 9am! I am such a creature of habit that I think this is throwing me off since normally I would be done with my workout by 7am on a normal day! I think I am going to slowly program myself back this week. That's a hard thing to do though when you know that you do not really have to get up! Oh well I need to try.LOL

I hope everyone is having cooler weather than we are!

Insanity done yet again! So looking forward to a recovery week next week!

Rachael Any forecast for some cooler heat for you? I saw on the news that there was a natural gas explosion in Texas with at least 3 confirmed dead. Is that any where close to you? I guess they have to try and some the gas in order to put out the fire. Come join us camping anytime:D We're going out this weekend in the camper just close to the city as we only have Sat/Sunday.

Cendrine I have the Windsor Pilates set and used to do them some. I've just never could get into yoga or pilates. Just to slow pace for me but I do like the benefits I see when I do them regularly.

Hi Girls! I know I need to get caught up with all of you! I'm still at work so a quick note now and then hopefully will be back on tonight for personals! I'm just really have a busy few days!

Today I got up and did MM - oooohhh and it felt so good! Work is really really busy right now so I'm back to working more hours than I have in a while. (It's messing with my workout schedule! ;))

When we last talked...it was Saturday and I didn't know what workout I was supposed to do! Well it ended up it was my rest day (per Cathe rotation) so I went to the gym and did Pilates! I love the Saturday Pilates class! Cendrine, I think of you when I'm doing it as it's all mat work and would maybe be something you could do and enjoy with your back issues. There's a couple of people in there with back problems (one post surgery) and they seem to enjoy it.

Then Sunday I got up to do spinning. A gal I met in the in spinning class is getting her certification and was going to team teach the class...so I wanted to go and support her! Well, the class was at 8:30, I got there at 8:10 and it was FULL! I have to admit, I was so psyched up to take the class that I almost started to cry! (Stupid I know!) Anyway, all my new friends in there (the regulars!) were feeling totally sorry for me! So I came out and didn't know what to do so I did 20 minutes on the TM, 20 minutes on the recumbent then 20 minutes on the stair climber. Then I went and did 20 minutes in the sauna! ;) (Just to be clear...nobody realy knew how disappointed I was and I was actually SURPRISED at how disappointed I was!) DH went to the gym for the first time Sunday also. He and roommate went down at 7 and went in the cardio cinema and watched a movie. So he was on the recumbent for about 110 minutes. After the gym, came home to do some cleaning and we had some friends call last minute that were up in our area and wanted to come visit! So we made mad dash to quickly clean up and pick up the house! LOL!

Also, the weather is just terrible here! Rain rain rain! And it's only like 55 degrees! Rachel, YOU CAN HAVE IT!!! LOL!

Oh, got to run...I'll be back again later!

I guess Kim and I are the lucky ones weather wise it seems! LOL! It's beautiful and mild here, not real heat but warm enough for t-shirts and bare feet! I love this time!

I'm so sorry, Jo that the class was full, and you even came early! But I'm excited to hear that your dh made it to the gym, that is wonderful!

I made your cleansing juice, the one with the 3 red apples. It was tasty. I added water to the mix and the fiber didn't bother me so much then. I still have some left, so am going to wait to make more till it's all used up.

Kim, I've never done Windsor or other pilates long enough to see what it does, but I'm pretty sure I will find out now, since that is pretty much all I seem to be able to do at the time besides walking. I don't mind pilates, but it sure is a whole lot different from lifting weights with Cathe! All the instructors on video that I have tried so far I have actually liked well enough, (there are some on other videos that I couldn't do a whole lot of....LOL)

My treadmill walk finally got done at 3 pm and even though I felt less energetic, I pushed for a good workout, so I feel good. Pilates for me tomorrow.

Good Morning! Happy Tuesday! Today Imax 2 is on my schedule, so since today is spinning day, I did LIS and then I'll spin tonight (which will more than cover Imax 2!) :p

Rachel, how's the shoulders feeling after S&H? Now I forget, have you done the S&H workouts at all before or are they new for you? I guess we had your HOT summer last year when we had those record 100+ temperatures. And then since we had such a mild winter we'll probably have a cool summer. Whah! It's definitely still too cold here to get in a lake without a wet suit so I envy you getting to do that!

Cendrine, glad you are trying the juices! Yes, I know you'd like the kale lemondade better without the pulp! Regarding the Pilates, though I have liked the instructors fine on the DVD's I have, I have never enjoyed it until I started taking these classes at the gym. I think it's because I have a much better understanding of the form and where I should be feeling things. How'd did your veggie crackers turn out?

Kim, great job on Insanity! So how do you feel about the program this time around? Is it worth getting? Did your handyman (men) get all finished with the projects they were doing for you?

Off to the shower!

Good NOON Yall!

Well I did manage to get up at 5am this morning with little problem so that is a good thing and I was right. I am way more productive when I have those extra 2 hrs than when I don't. I guess I am definitely a morning person, but that is no surprise to me. I have to admit though, I do enjoy staying up later with DH too. What a quaundry! (spelling)

So this morning it was Step Blast and S&H back. It took me a little bit to get going on the cardio but then I started to get with the program and everything fell into place. Tomorrow it is MMA Fusion and Legs so that is going to be interesting.

So right after I got done with breakfast , DH and I went out and tried to beat the heat. We have been needing to seal the Cedar but you have to have a dry forecast and we have threats of storms every night but of course there has been no rain but we did not want to get caught with our pants down! There is no beating the heat right now though. I was sweating as soon as we got started but I am happy to report that is done now but I think we both lost a gallon of water while we did it!

Jo-I can totally sympathize with you when you said you wanted to cry. I know that exact feeling. It is esp. bad when you have looked forward to something all day and then you can't do it. Then you do not want everyone there to know you want to cry so you try to cover that up too. I don't think it is stupid at all.
I think I had done these workouts before but not at any length. Just maybe once or twice. That is why I am freaking on the legs. I know that one is going to be tough.

Kim-I have not heard anything about the gas well explosion so that is probably because it is not too close to us. The only thing we are getting on the news right now is the oil spill. It is the saddest thing and it makes me feel helpless as a human being.
So are you going to start taking Fri. sat. and Sun. off from working out for the summer? I think that might be a great idea for you since you are going to be having all the other activities with camping and cottaging!
Insanity does not sound like the break you needed after this rotation.LOL

Cendrine-So are you walking by the porch and admiring all the changes you have done? I am jealous of your weather. Jo doesn't want my weather she wants yours...I assure you! LOL When people some to this heat it pretty much wipes them out.
The pilates and the TM sound like it is something that you really need right now. I am sure it is the jet lag affecting you with the low energy. Maybe the juices will help!

OK I better get a shower. My second of the day. I know I will have to have another one after we go pick in the garden tonight too. What can I say...I am a sweaty mess!lol

Hey Everybody!

just three more days of school and then we are officiall done! YAY! Ds and dd have officially been done since our Switzerland trip, so it has been a little bit like pulling teeth to get our last stuff done.... But I just couldn't justify skipping the last two weeks of curriculum, although I know with the average school, they loose at least that much each year with sick days, professional days, special fundraiser days and stuff like that.... Maybe I'm a little too much of a box checker, you think?

Rachel, I really enjoyed s&h, I'm sure you will too! I am so sorry about the heat! It's hard to imagine when its so different here, and no, Jo, you can't have our weather....LOL! But you can come and visit any time! Maybe I'll have my porch hammock up by then....LOL Oh, and by the way, the veggie crackers turned out better this time than last and I already loved them last time! I have some with my juices every day!

As far as the porch goes, I was surfing for cute additions and decided I better ask dh for a budget before I go on a spree....LOL He hasn't given me one yet, so my plans are on hold for now.... Poor guy is so busy trying to catch all the balls work is throwing at him since coming back from vacation!

Good Morning!
We are finally getting some relief! We got a nice afternoon rain yesterday afternoon and we are expecting more today. I know ,Jo, you are probably thinking YUCK but we are really in need. It is not the dry season yet and we are really behind.

As you know it was s%h legs and MMA fusion today and that is a tough combo. My legs were already fatigued from those sumo's in fusion and so they are really tuckered now! I did go lower on my weight than I normally would on the legs. I am thinking maybe I am losing a little depth when I go really heavy so I wanted to experiment and see how my DOMS are tomorrow. I am probably not as strong as I think I am.:p:rolleyes::D

Cendrine-I do not think there is anything wrong with being a box checker. It is a lot of responsibility to take on in the first place when you decide to home school. I think it would be easy to take the the route of not finishing up. It says a lot about you that you are. Even if the kids are ready for summer:D

Hello Kim and Jo!

I am going to pick in the garden before rain.

Good Morning! Last night spinning was a BLAST! It was one of those nights where all my energy levels were aligned with the stars and I was the spinning queen! Today I'm supposed to do a 40 min interval run so am going to go try that at the gym this afternoon. If anything is going to aggravate my heel it will be this so we'll see. I see the foot Dr again tomorrow (3 weeks) and to be honest it doesn't seem to be any better. I've continued to ice everyday and take those anti-inflammatories. As long as I don't do a downward dog or some other flex move like that it's fine. But if I press on my heel it hurts. Fortunately it doesn't hurt in my shoes. I purposely dressed up more than normal yesterday to wear my shoes I wear with my suits and it doesn't hurt so that's good!

Rachel, it was a little nice yesterday, got up to 65 and then the rain came in again last night. It's supposed to be a balmy 58 here today! LOL! So what's next now that you sealed the cedar? You guys sure are getting lots done! Ohh and I can feel your S&H DOMS coming through! I forgot to tell you guys how sore I was from MM - yes, DOMS everywhere!

Cendrine, I'm with Rachel, I don't think you're too much of a box checker, I think it's better to stick to the plan! LOL! Did you do Pilates yesterday?

Kim, how ya doing? Did you watch Jillian last night? It was pretty good.

Okay, off to the shower. Busy day ahead!

Hi everyone,

it was a 50min pilates for me yesterday and today a pyramid walk on the treadmill. Luckily I saw a fitness magazine at the chiro today that gives some ideas about how to spice up walking, I'm so ready for a little variety! LOL! The Chiro showed me some things i can do with light weights while walking as well, so I feel a bit more motivated! Other than that I'm just happy I'm getting some form of exercise every day! My stress level is way down since coming back, so I am also eating better and much less, so hopefully I'll see some results from that and the exercise before I hit the pool with the kids this summer....LOL!

Thanks, Jo and Rachel, for affirming me in getting a program done and checking off the boxes to the end! I feel real good right now knowing you guys support that !

Just two more days and they should be light ones! Yay!

How are you Kim? are you on the insanity recovery week yet? You really impress me with doing that rotation again, just like Rachel said, after your previous rotation, an easier one would have called me! LOL!

Jo, I'm so sorry your foot is still bothering you, but I'm glad it's minor so you can do most of your workouts as are!

Rachel, well done on your workout. I don't like the sumos! and then s&h legs! Nice!

Good afternoon Yall!

Well other than picking in the garden, it has been one lazy day around here. We got out to my FIL's about 8:30 this morning and stayed until almost 11. We helped him get everything picked that was ready to come off the vines. Yall should see the watermelons...that just made me think I should take a pic of the garden. I think I will try to do that the next sunny day and I will post it.
There are so many peppers, I do not even know what to do with them all...and tomatoes! My window sill in the kitchen is running over and I had a handful of cherry tomatoes for lunch. Todays pick was irish potatoes, peppers (anaheim's , poblanoes, banana, green bells...Is it true that if you leave them on the vine they will turn red?), tomatoes (roma, cherry, and one other that I forget the name) and cucumbers and squash. It was a mop bucket full! I really wish I was a great chef and could turn all these things into fantastic meals!

Cendrine-I wish we had DSL or something other than satellite internet. It will not stream video. You are limited with satellite. Are there other workout dvd's that stream instantly from netflix? That is the great thing about netflix!
It is good that you have the chiro to help vary your workouts. I know that the walking can get boring but maybe with some changes in your pocket it will keep it fun.
So is there anything that yall are going to do this summer out of the ordinary?

Jo-YEA SPIN! I am so glad you got in! I hate that your foot is still messed up! Is the Dr. going to do something different tomorrow?
I have kind of been getting a glimpse of your weather on the news following the story of the boy in Oregon that went missing. The reporters were saying that it was cold there. It is amazing how much difference there is in our weather. I can see how it being cold could get old but I swear sometimes I think I was born in the wrong part of the country!:D
Oh yea...I am pretty embarrassed to admit that we really have not gotten too much done around here for as much time as we have had off and now it is back to work on Monday. I am not going to worry too much about it though...I know DH needed a break and our next phase of this job hopefully will not be as hectic.

Kim-I hope all is well..I am sure everything is jumbled with the chaos of school getting out! It probably takes a bit to get everyone on the right schedule.

Better go...I don't have anything to do, I just probably have rambled enough..LOL

Rachel, what a bounty of veggies you have! I love peppers so much! They are great raw in strips for dipping, or stuffed and baked, or mixed with beans and steamed as a side, or added to a pasta sauce or blended in a pepper soup, even chopped in a salsa. That garden sounds so wonderful, I can't believe how long you spent picking veggies! That alone gives you a picture of just how much you got!

Don't feel bad about not doing more, downtime is very important and it helps you not burn out. Besides, you are back to work so soon, enjoy it! Read a book, do nothing!

I did read that green peppers are just unripe red peppers. I hear when they are red they have more vitamin C in them, which makes sense, I guess. Ever since I read that all peppers turn red eventually, I have opted for them more. Dh does not digest green ones as well and I figured, if we all like red we'll just get red... LOL!

And yes, Netflix has lots of other workouts it streams, pilates is just the ones I'm selecting for now. DSL is definitely nice to have! It was slow around here before it came...LOL
