--->STS 6 month alumni<---***Week of July 4th***

Oh YOU KIM! Thank you! Yes, ahemm, I was going to mention that! Thank you! Yes, I had a fabulous day! I didn't tell you guys all this yet as this happened so fast, but this is my birthday present to me:

Friday, I decided I'm going back to school to finish my Bachelors! (Happy Birthday to me!). So I called the University Friday to talk to an advisor. School was starting yesterday and I missed the deadlines, etc. (and I want to do the entire program online) so they said I could start Aug 30. I said okay and went on my way. Then, out of the blue this morning, they called and said I could start tonight with a Math class I have to take no matter what, but I have to come to class on Wednesday nights for lab. So I left at 4 today, went in and finished all my enrollment, etc. and started tonight! I was freaking as I haven't taken math in over 20 years (nor cracked a book) and had to take a pretest to see what I knew but I did amazingly well (got 86%)! (It was always my best subject). I was shocked at how much I remembered! But when I had to do all these graph equations, I completely drew a blank. Anyway, there you are, I am now a school girl and this time next year I'll have my Bachelors! I should add, part of my reason is this was a personal goal of mine to finish and now that I'm not traveling anymore (I was on the road 10+ years) and my hours were cut a while back, I thought this is a great time!

CRAZY HUH? :p;):D:cool::eek::eek:

Happy Birthday, JO, and what a great gift you are giving yourself! Congratulations! graph equations, man, I haven't done one single one of those since college....LOL! I love the idea of online college, I might do that sometime in the future myself, not sure what for , but it just sounds like something I would like.

How's your back today, Rachel? When I hear how you guys are thorough at work, makes me impressed with your work ethic, I don't know how many people nowadays would go the extra mile to make it perfect! Way to go!

Kim, how many more Insanity workouts you got left after today?

This drizzly and gloomy weather is making me draggy and lazy... I haven't worked out yet and am not sure if I'm going to... But good news is, my experiment mission is completed and I can use everything for next week's cake! YAY! I'm so happy, because now I know I have that much less to stress over as the party gets closer....
Ds is feeling sick and was up a couple of times last night, so we are taking it easy to help him get better quickly, I hope. I also hope dd and I don't catch it, dh has already been battling his own sinus thing all week....:(

Happy Thursday! Well it looks like we might be camping again this weekend; taking the kayaks WITH my life jacket. Cendrine, I'm so sorry about your weather! It's 96 here right now! YOWZA! Yeah, when they finally turned on the heat, they turned it WAY up! LOL!:p

So I haven't worked out because it's so dang hot in the house (we northwest people don't have air conditioning!) and I have a celebratory dinner tonight for my birthday since I spent birthday night at school so I'll miss resort night! So, today is a missed workout day...oh well! :D

Cendrine, glad the experiment was a success!!! And poor ds, hope he recovers quickly. Sickness isn't allowed in July! Maybe something he picked up at camp???

Since it's too hot to do anything else, I'm working on my homework. So back to it! TTYL!

OH MY GOODNESS!
I feel like such a turd that I missed your birthday, Jo!
Happy happy Birthday!!!!:D:D:D;););):cool::cool::cool::eek::eek::eek:

(Thanks Kim for catching that one;))

Well good news is, I woke up with absolutely no pain in the back. I do get this weird pain that I call my bip but it is work related and I know why I get it so I just have to get it stretched out the next day and then I am fine. I am super excited but I am going to give myself the rest of the week and then start working out on Monday if all goes well the rest of the week. I am really feeling it might. The arm is still up in the air but I might test it with light weight next week just to see...

Cendrine-That means the world to me that you think we are thorough! We really try to do our best!
I am so excited for you on the cake decorations. I know the few times I have really went all out for a cake all I wanted was for everything to go right and when it does it is so satisfying. Please post the pics I know you are gonna take;).

Jo-If I didn't know you better I might think you were trying to sneak that birthday past us!!! You know we have to give you accolades!!!
I love love love the fact that you are going back to school! Of course I am the only one here who has not been to college and hopefully now with internet and so many opportunities that were not available back 15 yrs ago maybe one day I will be able to take some classes. I always loved school...at least the learning parts anyhow! LOL
I am super proud of you for fulfilling one of your goals!

Kim-You can't have that many more days of Insanity left...? I am proud of you for sticking with it. It sounds like this last bit is a grind! Way to go!!!

One more day till the weekend! I can't wait for Friday afternoon..Oh yea Jo..Have fun kayaking! Pack the life jacket tonight! lOL

Insanity is done yet again. That brings me to 9 workouts:D:D Single digits!!:eek: I'm glad that you ladies understand my need to finish a rotation that I'm tired of. Most people would just say not to finish it. It would bug me to no end to not complete a rotation that I started.

My Runner's World magazine came today and has a neat looking training program for running a sub 2 hr half marathon. All 3 of my halfs have been a little over 2 hours, hmm, maybe next spring.

Jo WOW!! on the back to school. That is great news! So how many courses do you have to take this year to finish?? I'm so glad that you're finally getting some summer weather, perfect timing for going camping this weekend. What a week you're having: getting all your jobs done, starting school, celebrating a birthday and going camping! I did enjoy Jillian's show, I work with many aboriginals and diabetes is so rampant that it was good to see an effort to make some changes.

Rachael I often say to my patients that healing can be 2 steps forward and then one step backwards. While healing there are good and bad days. You have a good attitude about your recovery, the main ingredient for healing is time!

Cendrine I want pictures too! I bet dd is super excited about the cake! Has she been watching what you're doing?? Hopefully everyone is feeling better in your house soon! What kind of party are you having. My dd's birthday is coming up and we have to plan some kind of party:rolleyes:

I don't work Friday and we have very few plans for the weekend so looking forward to it!

The house is not coming along at all:mad::mad: DH has been phoning and nagging. The sales guy feels really bad but can't seem to hurry things up. Our city's housing market is booming (we never really had a recession here) and I think they are agreeing to build more houses than they can keep up with. I'm still hoping to move by Christmas.

We have been eating salads out of the garden this week. Got to get lots of weeding done this weekend.

I had such a busy day today! It was supposed to be a down day but it turned into getting things done that I have not had time for and then I got an email from a friend of ds's dad about this friday night soccer practice thing that is really inexpensive and lots of fun and you don't have to volunteer and there are no weekend games! Well, dh and I decided to let ds try it out to see if he wants to sign up for an actual season, it starts tomorrow so of course we had to run out and get cleats and shinguards... I grabbed the opportunity to swing by a friend's house to borrow dome shaped bake ware for the cake next week and got some things at party city for the party. I also managed to straighten out the house and wrap the in-laws and our birthday presents for dd. (I always get to do the shopping for the inlaws, which I love, it's like going on a shopping spree! If dd doesn't get anything else from anyone else for her birthday, she is still a very lucky girl, looking at the pile of gifts! LOL!
I haven't taken any pictures yet, waiting for the finished product, I guess, but Kim, since you are asking, and I think it's kind of a timeless girly thing, maybe you can use some ideas: We start by making a fairy garden: I will fill some plates you put under planters for catching water with that green flower foam and cover it with moss, then the girls can choose bark and twigs and dried leaves, acorns, pinecones, shells, rocks etc to create a little fairy garden. Then they (I have parent helpers, otherwise I might not do this) make a fairy out of a bead, pipecleaners, stitching yarn and silk flower petals (got the instructions off of Family Fun website) very easy, at least it looks like it( but I am going to prep everything into little kits of ziploc to simplify) Then they get a little purple drawstring bag and have to go find fairy gold (which are pretty beads) that they then string into a stretchy bracelet (stretchy nylon from craftstore). We will have a little fairy bower for the girls to play in with their take home wands (big pixy candy stick with a nilon butterfly hotmelt glued to the top to make it look like a butterfly wand)(still have to do this too...) Then depending on time we will play a couple of games (I doubt we will have too much time on our hands) before digging into the toadstool cake with the fondant fairy on top of it.
As you can see, I like hands on stuff and it is that much easier when parents are around, unless the kids are like your dd's age and can do most of this stuff without assistance... LOL!
High fives on the single digit Insanity workouts! YAY!
Jo have fun tonight!
Rachel, I'm glad your back is feeling better today, Kim is so right, two steps forward one back, sometimes the other way around...:( But time, or I should say patience is what it's going to take.
You know the website collagevideo.com? when you get ready to order some pilates workouts, that is a great place to shop because of the reviews and the previews, I find it really helpful. I'm itching to buy some myself...;)
I haven't had any downtime yet, so I'm off to read.

Good Friday morning!! I am setting here in my workout clothes.LOL I had no plans to workout, I just always lay my workout clothes out the night before so that is what I wake up and put on. I still feel great! I think I might have even been overdoing the stretching. Isn't that stupid! I am feeling pretty confident that with taking the rest of the week and the weekend, I might be able to ease into something on Monday.

Kim-Sorry that the contractors are dragging their feet! I think that is a universal thing because everyone I know that has had any work done complains about the same thing around here. I know it must be very frustrating for yall due to the fact that you need to sell your house but do not want to be homeless!
I am trying to be good and not rush back into anything. This is the longest I have really laid of of working out all together and it is on my mind a lot. I know it is ridiculous but I come from a pretty lazy family when it comes to physical activity so I guess I have this subconscious fear that it is genetic.

Cendrine-I WANT TO COME TO DD' S PARTY!!!You are such a cool mom! That sounds like a lot of work esp. if you have a good amount of girls coming! You must be a master organizer. I have to tip my hat to you!
I feel bad complaining about my back issues while you have been dealing with yours for months. I got a very small glimpse of how frustrating that must be. I think sometimes I feel like if I am not the girl who works out (which is how everyone knows me) then who am...Does that make sense? :rolleyes:Minor identity crisis this week topples with crazy hormones and no seratonin can make you think crazy stuff.LOL

Maybe you will get some water time in this weekend Jo!!! Have a great time!

TTYL
Rachel

Nothing too exciting here. DS did Insanity with me this morning. I'm looking forward to an easier workout tomorrow and then a rest day Sunday before starting the last week. Did lots of housework and groceries today. Now watching the football game on tv.

Cendrine the birthday party sounds like fun!! Has the rain gone away??

Rachael How is the heat? We are nice and warm here, 27C I think you're pretty hooked on fitness and it's a lifestyle for you now. You are allowed rest/recovery days!

I did get an email from the housing company which states they will start digging next week. So fingers crossed if they don't start next week I know lots of 13 year boys who don't seem to have anything to do. How much should I pay them to dig the basement?

LOL, Kim! How funny! I bet they would love to dig it for you too! You are on your last week of insanity and you are still sane! Way to go!
Ds had his first soccer practice last night and he really enjoyed it. I never could warm up to team sports so I was kind of expecting him to feel the way I would but he loved it and kept going, never giving up. I think he is going to want to join a proper soccer season this fall...;)

Rachel, Kim is right, you are hooked, so no need to worry about resting when it's needed! But I hear you because I had the same concerns a while ago.

Jo, how was your birthday celebration?

I am going to have to make a proper rotation for myself this weekend. Not that i have a lot of variety to choose from, but I was thinking I could probably try adding in Low Max and Low Impact Circuit and see how it goes. I'm officially tired of the treadmill... But I need to have a schedule to keep me focused.
I also am planning on prepping all the crafts and things this weekend so I can just focus on the cake next week.

Oh you guys we had such a wonderful time yesterday!!! Dinner on the water, the weather was perfect. We had dinner on one of the big marinas and were there until 11 watching the ferries and boats. It was wonderful! Oh and no wind, no jacket (that doesn't happen very often!). Also, you know it doesn't get dark here until 10:00 right now so we also walked on the water front and there was a beautiful sunset! Anyway, I'll try and catch up with all of you tomorrow as we're loading the kayaks to leave in a few minutes! DH will be yelling at me to get going here in a second! :D

Kim, yes it was a very busy week for me! I'll know how many classes I need in the next week or so. They haven't received my official transcript from my last college so it still needs to be evaluated. I had to laugh about available boys to dig a basement! That would be fun! ;) Hope they really do start digging next week! Are you going to take some down time after Insanity? You may need it! :p

Cendrine, how fun for ds and soccer! That should be great fun for him! You have been one busy busy girl yourself these last few days! Sounds like your workouts are really progressing. Any improvements in your weather?

Rachel, you'll be back working out in no time! Sounds like you're back is doing much better! Resting is good! LOL!:D Today will be a test for me for my arm and the kayaking. I think I'll be fine. We're going to a smooth lake so that will help with the paddling. I'm glad I've been giving my arm a rest though too! So are you on the same job this next week?

Gotta go! Dh is calling! Talk to you all tomorrow night! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

DH went for a 10 mile run this morning so I went with him and biked beside him. It was fun! Then came home and did my Inanity workout, Cardio Core and Balance.

Cendrine, I'm so glad that your ds enjoyed soccer. Team sports have so many benefits to them. What a fun way to get exercise! Maybe he'll be keen to watch the World Cup soccer final tomorrow.

Jo Yippee! I'm so glad that you're having such a good birthday week! Sounds like a perfect evening out. We have really late evenings here at this time of the year as well. Have fun kayaking!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend Rachael!

Speaking of late evenings, I always was used to the sun being up super long in the summer in Switzerland and so I was very surprised to see how early it goes down here in California.... Something to do with beeing further north in summer I think!
The weather is getting better here. We had another busy day. I got all the birthday crafts prepped and feel super relieved about that. It is so nice to have all my ducks in a row so early!
On the spur of the moment, I got a couple of plants to plant inside dd's super cute butterfly rainboots that started cracking instead of throwing them out. They look so cute on the porch! And dd was more than happy to trade them in for hello kitty replacement boots that Target had...
Now ds is wanting to outgrow his boots so we can do the same with his...LOL!
Dh mounted a porch decoration on the wall today after getting the required hardware, but still hasn't found a crossbar to hang the hammock from....:( I hope he has energy to go hunting with his studfinder again soon.

Kim, you are amazing, biking 10 miles and then working out to insanity....! Which makes me wonder, I guess your meds are kicking in nicely for you to have all that energy? How's the clean eating coming along?
We are getting our first yellow squash from our garden! It's fun harvesting our own stuff!

Jo, have fun kayaking! I'm glad you had such a great time last night!

Rachel, how's the day treating you?
