Just getting us started.

DH and I just finished CCC. It was supposed to be IMAX today and CCC tomorrow but I switched them as DH wanted to workout with me today and I knew he wouldn't wouldn't like the step work in IMAX.

Not too busy today, will take ds to curling later and afterwards we're going to DH's grandma's 95th birthday dinner!!! My FIL lives out of town and came in for his mom's birthday so will be nice to see everyone.

Cendrine Hope your back is doing well after a rest day! How did the fake snow work out? Why were they doing that for? What's it made of?

Jo Sounds like you got your hands full for the next few weeks!! Don't stress about finding time for us just pop in when you can.

Rachael When I do a double workout I try and do the cardio in the morning before work and of course do a full shower/shampoo right after. Then I work out after supper before bedtime and do the weights so I don't get as sweaty. I get in the shower but don't wet my hair (it's short so doesn't get as sweaty) then put on my pajamas.
That's too bad about the rain after you were up and ready. Are you doing it today instead? I'm hoping to do lots of the unpacking at the new house but since I don't know my schedule at the courts, we'll see how it goes.

Another day of rain and gloom. I am getting a little stir crazy today. I think the dogs are as well. They hate going out in the rain so they want to go out and I open the door and they just stand there waiting for me to turn the rain off. Poor things. Dh finally had to take them out with the umbrella. I guess they are getting a little spoiled. LOL

Its a rest day for me and I am so bored, I was tempted to workout but I talked myself out of that pretty easily so just doing a lot of reading today.
There is not too much else you can do in this weather but I am so tired of sitting. What do yall do on all your bad weather days...Jo and Kim...Cendrine, I know yall just enjoy yalls since until here lately you didn't get that many.;)

Kim-What a landmark...95. How lucky for your kids to have so many generations to learn from.
I am already trying to sike myself up for CCC. That is a tough one to do all the way through!
I have a lot of hair so it gets almost equally as sweaty with the weights. I guess I will always have to double them up in the same package if I am going to do 2-a-days.

Hello to Jo and Cendrine!

Kim, there is a realtor who sponsors the snow event every year...;) I guess the reason they do it is because unless you go up into the mountains, you will not get to sled around and have fun down here in the desert area... They build up a tower with straw bales and then they bring in this huge truck full of ice, the machine grinds it up to look sort of like shaved ice and it spits it out of a hose to whereever you direct it so they make ramps down from the bales, usually two and that way the kids climb up on the back of it with their sleds or surfboards, or body boards and then slide down the other side. The ice lasted until today, believe it or not! The kids had a blast, there were also free cookies and snowcones also sponsored. So a fun event for the neighborhood. Dh went down with dd and scraped his elbow open pretty bad... ice is not like snow after all and he got pretty well 'sandpapered'....
Thanks for asking about my back, it's doing ok. But I took off today as well. My higher load of cardio on top of STS has really tired me out, and my schedule with the kids activities has gotten busier, so I think I just was craving 'nothing' time.

Rachel, I don't ever get sick of gloomy weather in the sense, that I always find things to do inside...LOL! Mostly reading and watching movies, but scrapbooking and experimenting in the kitchen etc too! LOL Sorry that your doggies are so miserable!

Hey Jo, glad you're well, totally understand that you are spread thin, I would be too if I was doing all you are doing! so just hang in there and take one day at a time!

Rachael, we actually get mostly sunshine here on the prairies. It may be minus 30 but it's sunny so we just put on a parka, snowboots, mittens, hats, etc and go sledding, skiing, skating, making snowmen etc. In my marathon days I ran outside even through the coldest days.Snow doesn't get you wet, it's just like fluff in the air so even it's snowing it doesn't change things much. We don't really get a lot of rain here.
I know what you mean though when we do get rain in the spring/summer it's really hard to do much outside as everything gets so muddy!

Good Monday morning!

I have got a cleaning thing going on today so I thought I would get a quick checkin in so I can not mess up my mojo.
It is still gloomy but at least it is not raining and it is a lot warmer so I kicked the dogs out first thing this morning, got my workout in and not am dusting mopping and doing laundry. I am not 100% sure but I think there is a job starting next Monday as long as the material comes in so I am going to try to slowly start waking up earlier this week. That way, it is not a total shock to my system next week and if the job does not start, at least I will have all these extra daylight hrs to fill with something.;)

I was going to ask yall if you have a room in your house that just seems to be the catch all? Ours is the computer room. No matter how I try to keep it organized it seems to always get junked up. I am looking around now and I see all the extras in the house come to here. Since we were doing the project in the gym all the tools we were using are now in here. Any surplus things like bulk items I get at Sams are all in here.I try to stack everything nice but it is still "stacked". So I was wondering if yall had a room like that or if not how do you store all your extras that you need maybe not a daily basis but fairly regularly?

Workout today was IMAX the orginal and again another one that I might have only done a handful (if that many) times. It was a toughy. Now I know why that became such a popular series of workouts! It really gets you good.

Kim-Is it next week that you start JD? Is your house covered in boxes?
I don't mind the cold too much as long as it is not wet, which it tends to be a lot of the time here. It is hard to get warm while you are wet. I am still impressed though with you training for a marathon in that sort of temperature.

Cendrine-DH and I watched an interesting movie last night from Sweden. It was called Kitchen Stories. It was one of those movies that is just a story and I love that. No blood or guts. He liked it because he got to use his brain a little trying to translate the language with out the subtitles. I think it was in Swedish and Norwegian.
I hope your back is better today and allowed you to get a workout in. I know that by the end of this last week,,,I really needed a break. I am sure that is what you were feeling too.

Waving at you Jo!

I'm deciding only to do cardio on non sts days at least for this week. I feel it! I'm tired! I always do this to myself.... jump in full force and then burn out! LOL! Anyway, I did do disk 4 today, although I didn't up the weights. I am really trying to listen to my body to tell me if I am ready and not rush it. I feel pretty well toned just as it is, which is nice, and the extra cardio for the past 3 weeks has gotten me a nice jump start on the fat burning. I guess I just need to be patient now and take it slower.... Maybe I can alternate weeks of extra cardio and weeks of just 3 cardio and pace myself that way. We'll see.

Rachel, I did some cleaning today too, was definitely time. I enjoy watching movies in other languages (ones that I have some idea about, that is...lol) it helps brush up on it and kind of is just fun! And do we ever have a catch all room! LOL! I try to keep things picked up, but it is just not something I make a huge priority. I wish my house was one of those houses that has a perfect place for everything and nothing that doesn't fit anywhereLOL! Our dining table, which we never use for dining, is a catch-all and my office area always needs a good clean...;) And then there's our garage... that's were all the Costco stuff goes (sams club) that doesn't fit in the pantry or such....

Hi Kim and Jo, hope all is well with you guys!

Just getting us back to the front page...We were skipping on down the second one. LOL
I will be back after breakfast for a real checkin.;)

Good Tuesday...Still raining!
I know we need it but my mood needs a little sunshine...haha maybe just a peak through.

Not too much going on. Now that the house is clean and the laundry is done I am all caught up. That does feel nice but I am ready to go back to work. I know I am going to miss all the free time but I think I have done all the projects I can afford to do right now. I go have some outdoor things I want to get done but the weather is not allowing it so they will have to wait.
I feel guilty having all this time and all of yall having no time to spare. Too bad we are not all next door neighbors. I would come over and give all your houses a good scrub too with all my excess energy! LOL

CCC today and that is just a tough workout no matter how you slice it. But its done! This is a mainly cardio intense week so that is going to be my challenge!

Cendrine- I think I am guilty of doing the same thing when I get excited about something. I forget to pace myself. I am sure you caught it before you burnt out though. STS gets pretty tough esp. the 6 month rotation so I think you are right to slow up on the cardio. Esp. if you are already feeling good and toned because I know by the end you are going to be in great shape. You are making me want to do STS again. I love that kind of workout format. 3 weight days and 3 cardio days. I feel like my body really responds to that but I needed a good change in my routine and I think I am getting it with all this cardio in this months rotation.

I hope yall are all getting a little sunshine!

Have a great day.
Waving at Kim and Jo.:D:p;)

Rachel, you can come clean my house anytime! LOL! Honestly, I really don't like cleaning. I love a clean house, but I don't enjoy the process, I prefer doing laundry, ironing and cooking to cleaning any day....;)
Are you going to do some more Kindle reading while you have the time? I probably would, if I was you!
Good job doing CCC! I did a mix of 30/30 and 40/30 on the treadmill which left me soaking wet! Then I added on weights and plates abs. Those plate moves are tough and I plan on doing them until I can do them all without chickening out of some reps...LOL! I have a yummy tuscon bean soup simmering on the stove right now because we are coming home late from dance classes and I don't want to become one of those fast food moms on busy nights... Thus cooking dinner at lunch....;)
I do enjoy the sts format as well, Rachel! And I'm amazed at how well I'm responding even though I'm only onto the 3rd week. Pretty cool!

Hi Kim and Jo!

Sorry I missed checkin yesterday. We were at ds's band concert last night.:D He finds that the new school doesn't have nearly as good as a band program as his old school, he finds it very easy and so not enjoying it as much. I got up early and did IMAX before work so I would have the evening free. Today was LIC after dinner. It's got very cold here, with the windchill it was minus 45 this morning:confused: but the sun is shining Rachael!!! I'm treating a patient that recently immigrated from the Sudan and it's sure interesting to hear what he thinks about the winter. He can't believe how cold it is but says his 3 kids love the snow!

Rachael I don't really have a room like you described but with 4 people in a fairly small house we've have to stay very organized maybe in the larger house that will start to happen! I probably threw out stuff that I would have kept if I had the room.
You are right we are living in the middle of boxes right now but I know it's a short term thing. The packing is going really well!
I totally agree, it's when you get wet, that you get chilled and feel even colder. Those 3 years of running through snow, ice, heat, etc I think were my therapy years. My mom says it was my way of grieving after losing my son and dad close together. I don't think I will ever had the will power to do that again and hopefully I'll never have the need for it again.

Oh goodness, Rachael if you were closer I would take you up on your offer in a second;) I'm losing the motivation to keep this house clean. After we move out the furniture, I'll give it a really good clean.

Cendrien I am so glad that you are pacing yourself nice and slow!! Good for you for planning dinner ahead of time. I'm usually pretty organzied but today was a frozen pizza dinner:eek::eek: It is hard as a working mom at times to prepare that nutritious supper after being away all day and I want to clean out the freezer before we move. The frozen pizzas have been in there awhile so time to use them up.

Jury duty starts Thursday, Rachael. Tomorrow is my last day of work.:( The girls are taking me out for lunch, I'm starting to get quite nervous.

The house is coming along quickly now, the floors are starting to go in maybe I'l try and do some pictures tomorrow.

Oh, Kim, just so you know, I have frozen pizza in my freezer too, and some other quick fixes like that, I'm not that organized all the time, and I know I would be even less so if I had an out of the house job! I don't think my family would eat nearly as healthy as they do if I wasn't home all day! So I hope I didn't make you feel guilty and I certainly did not want to make myself sound judgmental of anyone needing to do some fast dinners!;)

Oh of course you didn't Cendrine. We, mothers, make ourselves feel guilty enough on our own;) I have left over chicken breasts, any ideas for using them up for supper tonight? I often cook a large amount of chicken breasts on the weekend and use them for quick suppers but I think everyone is tired of my usual quick chicken suppers . Any ideas?

Good good Wednesday morning!

LIC done...so much fun this morning. I think it was a nice break from the super intense cardio of the past couple of days...what do you think Kim?
Now I have to see if I can get my Hiit back from my gf who has had it for over a month and hadn't tried it yet. I did not want to discourage her when she borrowed it but I knew this one would not be for her. She is more of a "Tighter Assets" kind of work out girl. I haven't ever seen that one but from what I understand it is about 20 min sets and I don't think they are too strenuous...so nothing like Hiit.

I am not quite sure again what the day holds. I have a few things that need to get done around here but for the most part I am still caught up. That is what getting cooped up in the house does for me.

Kim-I would be the same way if my house was in the disorder that packing can do to it! There definitely would not be much cleaning going on and working and kids activities to boot...I am just impressed that there are workouts still being done:D I would love to see the pics of the floors in progression.
As DH was complaining this morning about being cold I couldn't help but mention your 45C below...maybe that will shut him up...LOL;)

Cendrine-The tuscan bean soup sounds familiar...was that from a clean eating mag by any chance? It also sounds delicious. I have been all in my kindle the last few days so we are on the same page when it comes to that.;)
I am not the biggest fan of cleaning but I have spurts of gettin' my scrub on. LOL DH just has to get out of the way when I am in that mood or he will get plowed over. hahaha!

Jo-I know you are out there and busy as ever!

Better go see what I can get done today.

Kim, I don't know what you have on hand but here are some ideas for what to make with the chicken breasts:

chop up some romaine, cut the chicken in bitesize pieces, add some corn, some green onions, some black beans and a jar of salsa and some avocado for a mexican salad

cut chicken into strips, mix with pesto sauce over pasta with some extra parmesan

top chicken with a mixture of mustard and honey, warm under the broiler and serve over rice or any other starch and some veggies.

toss chicken with pasta sauce and whatever veggies over pasta add parmesan

cut and toss chicken with olives, cucumbers, feta, onions and tomatoes and some oil and salt and pepper and stuff pita pockets with it or make a wrap with it

Cut chicken into whatever soup you can come up with with what you have in the house. Serve with bread.

Are any of those ideas things you don't already do on a regular basis? :) It really all depends on what you have in the house, doesn't it?

Rachel, dh was complaining about being cold today too, and I wasn't... so I knew something was up, because that never happens...LOL! Turns out he has been sitting at the computer in his boxers since 3am.... I would be cold too! I can't believe -45 weather! That's worse than a freezer isn't it? LOL!

Workout was disk 5. After having no doms whatsoever on Monday after doing disk 4 (remember, I didn't up my weights) I decided to up today... Nothing drastic, but heavier all the same and it felt good, except I slept funny and my neck is bugging me, I hope I didn't make it worse with the extra weights. Lots of stretching and massaging throughout the day today...

Hi Jo, I know you are hanging in there! You are such a trooper!

Kim, I just thought of something else. If you have curry powder you could make a curry with the chicken. Just brown some onions, add milk, or broth or coconut milk with some cornstarch and curry powder, cook until thickened, add the chicken, some cilantro if you have it and frozen peas or some peppers or broccoli or any other veggie you have. My family loves it when I add chopped bananas and raisins! Serve over rice.

Wow Cendrine...THat is exactly why I didn't try to think of anything for Kim...I knew you had it covered!;)

Well I got to get out of the house today a bit and putt around on the tractor. I cleared some brush while DH worked on trimming out a cabinet he built a while back. So even though we were only really busy for a few hrs, I think we feel accomplished.

Tonight I am trying a pork burger. I got the recipe from a cooking show on OWN. Oprahs new network. It was originally a turkey burger but I have pork and DH is not the biggest fan of turkey so I am going to try it. I will post it if it turns out good. It is the cooking method that I am interested in seeing if it will turn out juicy like the woman swears it will. So we will see. Sounds good anyway.

I didn't get in touch with my friend so I will have to improvise tomorrow. I am sure that if I do a boot camp cardio only or maybe HSTA with cardio only I will get a good burn. But I was sure hoping to get my DVD back.

Cendrine-I hope you are not tweaked too bad. Yes and that is definitely worse than a freezer!

I forgot to ask...DO any of you get the Nutrition Action newsletter? I got a thingy in the mail to subscribe and it sounded like it would have some interesting stuff in it. So I was wondering if yall had ever subscribed or read one?

Ok now thats it...TTYL

Hi Guys! I'm trying not to feel guilty for not checking in but I DO! So big deep breath. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Wheooo...

Kim, good luck on jury duty! I'll be thinking about you everyday! Don't be nervous - there's probably going to be lots of boring time as well as the interesting time. ;)

Rachel, we have a catch-all room and it's our computer room which is where I try to study. So I had cleaned it up when I started school and now I'm getting boxed in again!

Cendrine, I was afraid that might be alot of working out for you! But at least you know when you should back off! Good girl! I love that you're doing STS again! Two more weeks and I'm released to do weights again (not that I have time!).

So I'm up for air today. Finished a paper for mgmt that's due tonight - it was 7 pages. Then got my 1st big project turned in for Statistics. Got through 1/2 my reviews written for work - my house is a mess, I haven't even been able to get to spinning. This morning I broke one of my crowns so have to get that fixed tomorrow. I'm still up everynight until 1:00. But we're halfway into week 3...just 4 more weeks like this and then finals in week 8. Oh how I wish I only had one class this time! I had consdered dropping mgmt class but decided I must persever! I will get through this! (Sorry don't mean to make this about me!)

Ibo is doing great! We couldn't have asked for a better dog that's so well suited for us! The longer he's with us the more comfortable he is. He does still wake DH once in a while in the middle of the night but it's pretty much been 5:30 or 6 every day now which DH likes since he's an early raiser!

Back to work! Thanks again for understanding! I know it's totally fine, but I love checking in with you everyday! Also, since I start doing homework at 6:00 every night (during the week), DH has been fixing dinner and bringing food in for me! Sweet huh? Talk to you again soon! When will it be spring? :D

Kim, I did 1/2 way watch TBL while editing my paper last night! Did you see it? Those guys in black need to GO!

Rachel, I don't get that newsletter.

Cendrine, a guy at work brought in these walnut crackers his wife made in the dehydrator. They were AWESOME! I'm going to get the recipe for all of us - -Kim and Rachel, you can make them in the oven too.

How fun that you got to pop in, Jo! I really feel for you, I don't think I would do nearly as well as you do on so little sleep!
It's good to hear Ibo continues to get more and more comfortable!
How sweet of your dh do do dinner and bring it in, that is wonderful! What is his schedule like these days?
What a bummer about the crown, exactly what you did not need right now!
oh, and thanks for not rubbing it in that I was working out too much, you are so graceful, praising me for knowing when to back off, rather than telling me off for going overboard to begin with....LOL:rolleyes: Dh knows I have this tendency, and usually he says nothing because it seems I never listen and have to figure it out the hard way.... But I'm starting to feel better just from the last few days of taking it a little slower...

Rachel, dh had subscribed to nutrition action before we were married and we've been getting it for years. It's a good publication that I have been enjoying reading as well! It's worth a try and I think if you are even remotely interested in nutrition, you will like it!
