STS 6 month alumni Valentine's week

FourAM

Cathlete
Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day...I hope this is not a stupid Question...Kim do yall do Valentine's Day??

Well we do not do anything to major around here but profess our love which is what we do anyway so we have Valentines every day I guess:D
So what are y'all doing?

It was a rest day for me. I am noticing some real results though. Yesterday I was taking some pics just to see if I could see what dh does in me and I think I actually saw an ab or two. I think the mix of short intense workouts and steady state and some that are a little longer and intense are tricking my body a little. Esp. since I was used to just going for it for about an hr each time I did cardio. I was really under a misconception I think. With the healthy balance of some intense and some not...I think my body is really responding. Now I hope it lasts.

Jo-I have a mirror and it's not pretty...I don't know if you would be the worst at form since I have not been doing Cathe as long as yall I have not been doing those air jacks as long! It is amazing to me that they have such great form. All of them. Compared to me. When it comes to grace I liken myself more to Brenda than anyone even though she is still more graceful than me.:D

Cendrine-Any fancy meal plans for Valentine's day? I am always wondering what you are going to do.
If I had to juggle to get an A in P.E. I would not have gotten an A. We did not even have to complete a mile to get an A. Haha ...I do not think I ran a mile until my 20's . It is a sad thing down here, huh?

Kim-Happy Valentine's Day...Did you hear any good news about the house?

OK DH is up and ready to get going...Have a great Day

Rachel

Happy Valentines Day!

Rachel, we're like you, we profess our love daily so don't need a special day! But, every once in a while we share a card...but I don't remember the last time we did that! Awesome on seeing results!!!! You're doing something right and it's spelled STS Strength and Cardio!! Wooohooooo!!! Is your snow all gone?

I'm off to do Disc 14 (Legs) this morning and then I'm planning to try and make black bean chips today in the dehydrator.

Talk later!

There is just enough snow left to make a mess, Jo!:p In fact it might be 50 degrees out there. I know DH is in just a t-shirt. He is working on little odds and ends on the mudroom and I am trying to clean the house before we go back to work tomorrow. Then I was in my workout room and my polar manual reminded me that I needed to try to reset my time on the darn thing and I have been searching online ever since trying to find something to help me do that. I am not too quick on those sorts of things so I was hoping for a video tutorial to talk me through it but I only found a video tutorial for getting started. I always have so much trouble with these complicated things!.

The roofers are here today so we will hopefully have a roof on before night fall if not it will be sometime during the week.

I am so sore in my bi's , I can't even pop my elbows with out wincing. haha Thanks Cathe!

Well off to clean some more. I got distracted and now I really should get back to it!

Black bean chips sound great Jo. My favorite bean!

Rachel

Yeah Rachel on sore biceps! Do you remember a while back, I had done a month of Meso 2 and like you had to drop my weight but my biceps were really sore? I think it's because we're really perfecting our form! I'm proud of you for sore bi's!!:cool:

I just finished my breakfast. Disc 14 about wiped me out! I'm regrouping before I go mix up the chips. I feel like I could take a nap! Why do I always think it's going to be easier? I'm trying to decide if I want to work on cleaning out some drawers, work a little on my never ending closet, or do nothing! Right now my legs don't want to do anything!

Rachel, black beans are my favorite too so I'm hoping this works! You know I was shocked how well the garbonzo chips turned out and every one that tried them thought they were awesome so I'm encouraged I'll have success!

Okay, time to get off my butt...:p

Happy Valentine's Day to you all too!

We don't do terribly much for Valentine's day either, I always thought it was weird to wait for a day to dictate to be all lovey and all.... We do it all the time too! Back in Europe, it is much less of a big day than over here, although it is catching up some too. But I did make the valentine jello and I got these cute little mailboxes for the kids from Target and put a little heart shaped candle and some beads for dd and a little toy light up sword for ds in it in the attempt to stay away from candy. It was well received. The boxes are really cute and I can reuse them every year. The kids had their candles lit during breakfast and lunch and enjoyed blowing them out after the meals.

Rachel, I didn't make any special meal because it is a busy day, dh and I were both teaching Sunday School in different classes today and we are usually just really done afterwards. Not sure what I'll make for dinner either...

Jo, are you using your chip recipe and just add the beans instead of the corn or is this a new recipe? Let me know how it turned out!

Hi again! Cendrine, yes, I used the chip recipe and substituted beans for corn. I need to find something else to put in there that adds a little more liquid (I think) but I don't know what. The flavor is good but they are hard to spread and dry kind of splotchy (I know that doesn't probably make sense). I made one batch with and one without jalapeno. They are both excellent. I'll keep tweaking the recipe to try and perfect it. So bottom-line, the taste is perfect, they're just a little bit crumbly and I think it's cuz I can't spread them evenly enough and obviously corn has more water content than beans! Hmmm...any ideas? Also, I was out of red pepper so I put yellow in the non-jalapeno batch and orange in the other. Considering I'm not a chip eater, I'm sure spending a lot of time with these!

Rachel, did they get the roof on?

I'm sore! I'm sore from chest, shoulders and tris, and now my legs are talking to me! I'm excited to do Step Moves tomorrow!

Last post: I LOVE THE OLYMPICS! These athletes are so inspiring! I love the skating - they make it look so easy!! (Oh yeah, Cathe does that too! :D)

Cendrine, I forgot to mention I love the treats you did for the kids with the candles! You do such fun things for them!

Kim, did you watch the men's moguls! Your guy was amazing! Actually I'm always rooting for the US and Canada! Oh, figure skating is back on - got to go...

Good morning yall!!!

Well it is off to work for me today. I hope the job is ready and has heat when we get there. I hate showing up and having to tell them what needs to be done before we can even get started! Hopefully though, since this is the same company and school district that we were working for before Christmas, they will know. It is all the same product going in to this school too, so we would hope any way.

It was Double wave pyramid for me today and it was by far not easy...haha! I wonder if Cathe ever gets to the point on some of these drills where her jumps turn into bunny hops like mine:p. I am telling you, I am willing my body with every thing I have and my mind is prepared but toward the end, there is just no getting myself off the ground more that an inch it feels like. I am sure it is quiet funny to see. Oh well I think that since I am giving it everything I have, I am not going to fret over it I am just going to will myself to get better:eek:

Jo, I wish I could help you on the chip recipe...I don't eat a lot of chips but I sure would if they were healthy for me...I love the crunch factor of food. I love crackers and nuts and anything that crunches! Oh yea and I love the ice skating too...have since I was little.

Cendrine, Did you get your books and software in? Are the ids as excited as you are? I love the little mailbox idea and the no candy thing! I worry about my niece and nephew having bad eating habits. Both my sister and my brothers family eat out a lot. I know they have busy lives but I wish they could have home cooked meals and less junk more often.

Kim, Hope you are having a great day and nothing but good news on all the house stuff!

OK well I better go eat breakfast and get on with the day...OH yea the windows are supposed to be in today!!!!!

And yes Jo...THE ROOF IS DONE!! phewwww, that is a load off!

Have a great day!

Rachel

I managed to spend money sitting in my pajama's at home on a holiday:p:cool: I noticed that Cathe had Cardio Hits as her weekly special and I have those 3 workouts on VHS. I decided for $27.99 it was time to switch them to dvd.

Today the plan is to finish M2W2 and then I'll be half done STS! DH decided to go into work for a few hours so I"ll wait on him to do back/biceps. I'm a lot less sore than the first week of mesocycle 2.

The house project continues to move forward. DH and I had a nice talk Saturday, he showed me the numbers he crunched (he's an accountant) and we have decided to move ahead with buying:p:confused:. We went and saw a whole bunch of more showhomes in the south end of the city yesterday. At this point we have 3 plans we really like and 2 others that we saw the first day that we would like to go back and have a second look ( so 5 plans). So the next step is to meet with the real estate agent tomorrow about selling our house and then in the next week or 2 go back and narrow that list of 5 houses down and then start approaching builders.

DH surprised me Saturday with tickets to a Mardi Gras party for a Valentine's date night! He also gave me some fudge:rolleyes: and a $100 gift certificate for Lululemon. He said he knew that I was aiming to buy an outfit when I lost the 10 lbs but he saw how hard I was trying and having trouble losing due to the thyroid issues. He's such a sweetie. I would still like to wait till the 10 lb weight loss but we'll see.

My sister had a Valentine/Olympic party last night for the family. Jo, we watched the Canadian win the first gold ever on Canadian soil! How exciting!! I told the kids to remember his name because it will come up in future years as a trivial pursuit question. Two local girls (one lives on my mom's street) came in 4 th and 14th at the speed skating.

Cendrine Sounds like the kids really enjoyed their Valentine surprises. We got dd a little brooch and ds a football pennant. Juggling! What a fun skill to have! Did it take you a long time to learn???

Rachael SOunds like you're getting some great results from STS! I'm sure you're relieved that the roof is on ! Good luck with the job! No work for me today, as it's a holiday here.Everything is closed up.

Jo I really don't want to see myself in the mirror doing plyometrics. I want to think that I'm jumping high and doing great. I'm sure I don't jump nearly as high as I think I do.

Hi Everyone! Step Moves this morning! Like Kim, I'm off today for Presidents Day.

Kim, YEAH on Lululemon! In fact that's where I'm headed this morning. You DH was very thoughtful! I think this floor plan is nice but I liked the other one better too. One thing also to think about is placement of your master suite. In our house the master suite is over the kitchen and it's annoying if someone gets up early or when I have migraines that people are in the kitchen banging around (this may not be an issue for you). But think about if you would want your suite over the great room or other bedrooms. Just mentioning it as something to think about. My GF in MT paid extra to have their suite floor heavily insulated so you can't hear anything coming up. So people can be below you and watching movies and she won't hear it. Our house wasn't new when we bought it and our previous house the master suite was over another bedroom so was never an issue. Anyway, just a thought. These are things you don't think about until it's too late! I'm so excited for you that you're moving forward...lots of work ahead but what FUN!

Rachel, hope you have heat and a great day at work! Sounds like you did a great job on the DW pyramids! Jump higher! I'm sure you were higher than you thought! I was happy today doing Step Moves as I KNOW I got all the moves! ;)

Hello Cendrine! Okay, off to the shower and the mall! The sun is shining!

Hi Guys,

Jo, your tips about the placement of the master bedroom are very valid, our bedroom is right above kitchen and family room, needless to say, I always wake up when dh goes down for his midnight snack, and when we have visitors who watch tv at all hours of the night we hear that too. We actually got some wireless headsets for that very purpose so we can sleep!

For the chips I would just add a littel water or, since it's black beans, some lime juice or lemon juice might be nice for better spreadability and flavor.

Rachel, yay on the roof being up! You must be excited!

My curriculum and soft ware has not gotten here by Sat evening, so it being a president's day I can't remember if there will be mail today or not... I'll just have to wait and see... Maybe tomorrow if not today.

Kim, your dh is so sweet with the gift card and all! So understanding and supportive! The flu has set me back a bit it took me a week to get back to eating well, I did not feel like eating veggies at all for at least a week...:( So, I'm hanging in there with you!

Yea...The job is going to go well! Everything was in pretty good order when we got there except for getting the material in the building...We are hoping they get limestone down today so we can at least get close to the building or else we will have to bobcat it in. Other than a few minor details it looks like it will be a nice little job.

Kim-I too liked the others better. This one is just a little too modern for me but I think my dh would love it too. I like the coziness of the other ones. I am very excited to take this journey with you...I will feel like I am building a house too. I am very curious how you will swing the sell of your house and the building of the other and the whole interim. Can't wait!
Congratulations to the first medal on Canadian soil...Doesn't it feel like you all won ! Haha

Jo-You are so thoughtful when it comes to random stuff! I never would have thought about where the master suite should be! Good catch.
Did you get anything cool at lulumon? And no I really think I was just about an inch off the ground at some points.:D

Cendrine-Well speaking from my experience , there was no mail here today so hopefully you will get your things tomorrow. I forgot all about presidents day.
I think lime juice is a great idea for the black bean chips. I knew you would have a solution!

Well I am going to wash the dirt of the day off...See yall tomorrow

Rachel

Rachel, what you said about that floor plan was what I was thinking too...not as cozy as the other. Glad things are looking good for your job! I meant to ask you, are you and DH self-employed or do you work for someone? Did I ever tell you that my family was in floor covering?

Cendrine, yeah, I was thinking more lime juice too. There is a little in there already but more would help. Actually the chips are great and I guess I can't expect them to look perfect like fritos or something. They are very unique but look like someone tore up some cardboard! Where I had to cut the tortilla chips, these you just break apart. Everyone loves the flavor but presentation is everything right?

Kim, hope your day off was good!

So, I got to the mall and never made it out of Nordstrom! I was actually only there about an hour and a half and then DH called me and so I left to meet him. I was a good girl though and didn't buy anything - they are starting to display a lot of spring clothes so I was checking everything out! I love the longer tops and saw some really cute stuff...but nothing I need!

Tomorrow is Back and Biceps!

I know I keep bringing these things up...BUT, I swear I MUST be really focusing on my form! My legs hurt in new muscles I swear I've never felt DOMS before! OR, is it from the HIIT??? Kim and Rachel, are you experiencing this also? It makes sense...the more we do a workout, the better we get at it...thoughts? But, I could be sore from HIIT moves! And just what was it I did that made me hurt so good?:D:cool::p

I'm still pondering this...so I did Cardio Core Circuit on Saturday and Disc 14 Legs yesterday. My glutes hurt all over including high up on the top of my butt :D, both my abductors and adductors hurt, hip flexors, hams and quads. I mean, I have a good ALL OVER DOMS going on. Usually one area is heavier DOMS, but this is pretty much everywhere! So it must have to do with the Cardio Core Circuit as well. Okay enough about my legs...I'll just enjoy the pain and move on to back and biceps. My chest just stopped being tight! LOL! G'night all! :D

Good Morning Everyone!

Back and Biceps today! It felt good! Not much else going on. The sun is shining and I need to get to work! For some reason I couldn't go to sleep last night so was up until 2:00. It was like I had drank coffee or something.

I'll check on you all later! Have a good day!

Jo, it sounds like you have a good case of DOMS! Good job for workig so hard! I can't tell you if it's the Hiit or anything else, but obviously whatever you are doing is working, so keep it up! LOL!

My books came today! So I will be in heaven for a while!

I'll talk to you all later!

Hey yall...

Sorry I missed my morning checkin. I woke up and it was 4:15:eek: I know that seems early but it was about 20 min late for me...my alarm actually goes off at 3:54am. I know I am a weirdo! SO then of course everything was thrown off just enough to make me use every bit of "spare" time this morning for everything else but get to check in!

I think it was disc 16 this morning...I forget the #'s but it was chest tris and shoulders and it was tough. I am really loving the pump when I am done. I feel like I am really getting worked differently this time around. I do not know if it is a mind thing or what but I feel like everything is better. I have even went down on weights but I feel like I am getting a way better work out! I have to completely agree with you on this one Jo...I think my mind and body are really working together this time around and that when it is a tricep or shoulder or chest move...I am thinking about that muscle and working it from my mind through my body. I am really feeling powerful!

Jo-We are self employed, and I don't think you have mentioned that your family was in floor covering. So what do they do exactly? I am very proud of you for not caving on those cute shirts...yet;)...because you did not need them! I am trying to be a better human and trying to stick with things I "need"! I really do not go out that often and really do not need alot of clothes for those kinds of purposes. In fact my main staples are work clothes which I buy mainly used because it is a waste to buy new clothes for what I do and then work out clothes of course...That is my main splurge!

Cendrine-Are you going AWOL on us...:D:p:cool: I love it and completely understand. I hope you are learning all kinds of new ways for the kids to learn!

Kim-Hope you are having a good day and good news!

Well I am off to dinner!

Hope you all had a great day!

Rachel

Coming up for air, you guys....LOL!

I have assembled all the teacher notes so far and in the process I have discovered a special writing tutorial for ds that they are including in this year's language program that I had not been aware I was getting, it looks great and is so what he needs right now, so I'm very pleased!

Rachel, I feel the same way you do about clothes, I don't have that many opportunities to wear fancy things and at home who needs the newest stuff, even though I like to get new things, but really, I find myself reaching for the comfy stuff when I'm home anyway....LOL

I'm gonna have a house full of Tiger cubs tomorrow for the Tiger Cub Den meeting. My turn to hoast.... Not looking forward to it.... That many boys in one house can make the house seem extremely small and of course each kid is going to come with a parent in tow.... So I will have to do some cleaning and preparing tomorrow, even though I'd much rather read....

I was thinking of you all today, as our history portion touched on the origin of the Olympic games back in 776 BC- we've been studying the greeks, myths, phylosophers, art, spartans, parthenon, you name it. Ds ended up saying that he wanted to go to the Olympics now. What's new with the Olympics, who took home what today?

Well, off I go again, you know where...:D
