~~~>STS 6 Month Alumni-Oct.24<~~~
Good Morning.
Well it is a lovely rainy day here, and I really mean that! LOL We have not had a really good rainy day in a while so I am enjoying it.
As you can tell I am still in one piece. I have to admit though that I was a nervous wreck until the tree was down where it was supposed to go. You should have seen the whole get up. Gf's Dh had a rope up in a limb then it was tethered around another tree and pulled at a right angle and attached to the tow ball of the truck. Very geometric...:rolleyes::D:D It totally looked like something right off of funniest home videos that you shake your head at and know any minute that any minute the tree is going to fall on the shed where all the poor guys lawn equipment is stored. I have to hand it to gf's dh though, it all worked just as he planned it...hard to believe ! lol
So since we "might" have some unexpected company this week I am going to spend the rest of the day cleaning and then grocery store.
Jo and Cendrine, I won't be catching up to you anytime soon in the tech department...Don't laugh but I still use a phone that has the 3 letters on each #:eek: I am so old school. I think I may have sent 4 texts in my life so I have not seen the need to upgrade yet. My phone is more of an alarm clock and flash light than anything else.LOL
Kim-I think I am going to start with KB 4DS tomorrow too to get the long one over with. It will be a very early morning and back to work tomorrow so it is going to be a tuffy for me but I am starting the sike up process NOW! haha.
Better go before the cleaning bug leaves me...Have a great Day!:D
Wow Rachel! Hats off to those guys on getting the tree down! Oh the excitement! LOL!
I am UP - and off to spinning! It was no easy feat waking up this morning. So I'll be back later to report in...or maybe I'll report in from the gym with my Droid! LOL!
BBL!
I'm back! Went to spinning then did a full-body workout on the machines. I followed MM format. I am wiped out! LOL!
It is pouring rain here too Rachel! We had a storm move in and the leaves are all over the place and small branches (it's very windy too!). It feels like a good day for a big pot of chilli or beef stew. Something warm and rib sticking! :D
I'm going to get a quick shower and then headed to homework. We really need to go to Costco but I may send DH without me.
Happy Sunday!
Chilli weather here too! LOL! I actually went all out on my grocery shopping trip and got some organic stew beef as well as some ground buffalo meat to cook in my crockpot for chili this week and am going to make a yummy healthy cornbread to go with it. Which reminds me I have to start soaking the beans...;)
Jo, you are taking to the droid just like that! I am sure you get much more use out of it than me, let me know what else the fitness apps can do! I'm glad you had a good spin and weight workout! I am planning on doing MM this week myself. I'm sore from my leg workout so I am thinking of doing the upper body parts and abs tomorrow and save the legs for later...
Rachel, I'm glad everyone is back in one piece! Sounds like it was quite an adventure! I'm happy you guys are getting some rain too!
Kim, great news about your ds' dr appt! You must be so thrilled! And he too, I'm sure! Do you think it's the new meds he has been taking a while ago?
No cavities for everyone is a great motivator too! Congratulations!
Going to get some downtime. I promised ds we would go and watch him outside practicing his skateboard skills later.
Thanks Cendrine, it was news that we had been waiting to hear for years!
The new meds were part of the weaning off process. We don't have to go for a breathing test for 4 months!!!:D:D We've been going every 6 weeks for years.
Rachael Glad you all survived the adventures with the tree. We often have to take down trees at my mom's cottage as it's the middle of a forest and she's always worried that the trees are going to come down on her roof. It's always a stressful hour or two! This year a friend took down one when we weren't there.:D What company are you going to have??
Sounds like you had a good time at the gym Jo! Hope you were able to get some homework done.
I did Ab Circuits No Equipment this morning and also got a ton of projects done around the house. Getting close to the open house and want everything to look nice!
Oh my goodness, I am about to die, I am so tired. I think I might have gotten maybe 3 good hrs of sleep last night and that just doesn't do anything for me. I need that 8 hrs. Needless to say there was no workout this morning but since this week is a 4DS workout and then the next day is an ab workout, I think I will be able to catch it back up.
I am not sure why I didn't sleep well. It was a stormy night but no worse than we have had before so I am at a loss for what was keeping me up. It was like I had a cup of coffee. Right after I get done here I am off to bed and it is just now almost 7.
Jo-I was going to ask you about all your trees around your house. Have you ever had any close calls? We have had some limbs come through our roof so now I am a bit leary when it gets windy but we have had the trees topped so that makes me fill better but since we have had such a drought I am worried about them being dried out.
Kim-How nice of the neighbor to take care of the tree...I need a neighbor like that.! lol
I bet it is going to fill weird not going to that 6 week appt. for ds! Is he over th moon about it?
Cendrine-Are the kids getting ready for Halloween? Have they decided what they are going to be yet? Do yall go trick or treating, have trick or treaters???
Jo-I hope your storms have passed...we were surrounded by tornado warnings last night. I really was not too worried because the radar was showing us to mostly be in the clear but there is that fluke occurrence when things change really quickly. This would be our normal summer weather pattern but we are getting it kind of late right now.
OK yall it is off to bed for me...zzzzzz's!
Sorry to hear about your bad night, Rachel, I hope you get caught up tonight!
I did Upper Body MM and tm walk today. I was feeling a bit more with it than last week, so I'm glad about that. I hope it keeps getting better! Though it was cloudy today it actually went all the way up to 78°F, quite unexpected. It's gonna be mild all week from what I can see.
I made a really yummy whole grain bread today, I love when there are things in the bread to give texture! The kids loved helping and dh was all over it! LOL!
Rachel, dd wants to dress up as Belle and ds wants to dress up as a Jedi, so I guess we are all set, although we don't actually go trick or treating, we go to one of those fall carnival places where there are lots of fun attractions and tons of candy, so no shortage of that for the kids...:rolleyes:
Hi Kim and Jo!
Just finished 4DS HIS this morning. No workout for me yesterday as I didn't get out of bed in time and so planned to do it after work but ended up waiting 3 hours for a dishwasher repairman that decided not to come:mad: because he didn't have the part he needed.
Hope you got a better night sleep Rachael!
Glad the weather is warming up for you Cendrine (and for my visiting family;)) Our forecast is cloudy with rain for 3 days in a row. We are used to our sunshine here! Rain like that is unusual, it's so depressing!
Kim, that is so frustrating, to have the repairman not show up after wasting your time waiting for 3 hours! I'm glad you got to work out today, though! I'm sure your weather will turn soon...;)
Not much going on here, except, we ended up buying ds a bigger skateboard since the one he had was supposedly too small and made it hard for him to keep his balance, so we will be outside this afternoon practicing... the weather is nice, so it will be good to be outside.
Hi Rachel and Jo!
Hi All! Another busy start of the week (why am I so busy??). Rachel, hope you got a better night sleep! That's weird cause I couldn't sleep Sunday night either...you were probably sending me signal! :D
Someone needs me so I'll be back!
Good Wed.
Sorry no check in yesterday. Dh's uncle did come in to town and we went to Dh's cousins' house last night for dinner. I really enjoyed it but we got home a little late again last night and I really NEEDED some more sleep as is obvious this morning when I tried to get a workout in. When I looked at my polar and realized my heart rate was at 114 and I was 15 minutes into LIS I thought I might as well pack it up.:rolleyes: My eyes are burning still so I guess I haven't woke up yet. It looks like no workout for me today either, except work. I think I see a lunch time power nap in my future...lol Where is that turning back the clock thing...I need that extra hr something fierce...haha
Cendrine-Dh used to skate when we were teenagers. He is so tall though that it was tough. Tony Hawk is an exception. He had good agility though so at least he never fell.
I love a good fall carnival. It really starts the holiday season for me.
Kim-I should have just stayed in bed this morning. It makes me wonder how all those people in the mags with the absolutely perfect bodies don't over train. I mean I know that is not what my problem is but when I think about 2-a-days I really just wonder how they do it.
Jo-Sounds like you are going to have another hectic week. I hope you get your workouts in.
Hi Girls,
the wind started kicking up this morning just before I got up. I love the sound of strong wind outside! Just makes me feel more in the fall mood! It's a little cold, for me anyway, I can't believe the temp gauge outside says it's 85!:eek: How can I be cold!? I've got a sweater and a scarf on for crying out loud! Oh well, that's me for you....LOL
Rachel, sorry you didn't feel up for the workout this morning, too bad you had to get up and find out, it would have been nice to snooze longer...
Jo, you really do sound busy, I hope you get to slow down a bit for the holiday season!
I did tm and lower body MM plus a good ab work out and stretch. Feeling pretty good today.
Received some bad news tonight. My good friend has cancer. She even had a hysterectomy in September and didn't tell me. I was wondering why she wasn't calling, I thought she was just really busy (as she's a teacher) and her teenage boys are very active in competitive football and hockey.
I don't know if you remember but she is the one who's husband tried to commit suicide last winter. She tends to hole up and not talk to anyone when times are tough. Her neighbour used to be a coworker of mine and she kept asking my friend why I wasn't over and my friend finally admitted that she hadn't told me because she didn't want to worry me. So my former co-worker phoned to tell me.
I've been phoning and leaving messages but she hasn't called me back. I'm tried to decide what to do:(:(:( I know whe really likes her privacy but I would really like to help.
I did do 4DS BootCamp this morning. We're having terrible stormy weather here but at least no snow. Just west of us a couple of hours, they had 6" of snow!
Kim, I am so sorry to hear that! I remember you telling us about the incident with her dh (how is he, by the way?) and now she has to battle this too, she will be in my thoughts! I totally understand your desire to want to help, I feel the same way when someone hits hard times, especially when you are close.
Can you talk to your coworker to see what she thinks might be most helpful without making her feel odd about it?
We had a friend in the neighborhood and we organized meals for her and her family, first daily after the operation and then at the times of the chemo appts until the sickness went away. I sure hope it blessed them!
Good Thurs.
SO sorry about your friend Kim. That is a rough spot to be in. How to let your friend know you know without making her uncomfortable and with out putting your neighbor in a bad position for telling you. I really feel for her kids. What a mess.
Well I have really fallen behind on my workouts now. I set my alarm this morning but decided, when it went off, that I was going to give myself some sleep instead. I just did not feel like I had gotten to catch back up on my sleep since Sunday. I think maybe to day did it though. I felt more like myself this morning so I am sure I got enough sleep. I am finding it really tough to get back to getting up at 4. :confused: I thought it would not take me that long to get used to it again but I think because it has not been consistent (that I am up at 4 one day and then 7 the next), it is really not giving me a good schedule. So I feel like I am all turned around.
Cendrine-It is the same way here with the temps. It is warm outside but has not warmed up in the house at all today. So it is still close to 70 in the house and I think it might have gotten to 80 today outside. We are so shaded here that it takes a while if the house really cools down at night. It keeps the electric bill down a bit though, which is always nice.
Jo-I hope you are not too snowed under. Have a great day.
I am off to make a vege soup...Yum
Rachel, that is exactly what must be going on, the house warming up slowly... I didn't think of that...:rolleyes: It's 85° out today, and I'm with my sweater again inside.... But I better wear something else when I take the kids out to the park this afternoon.
I'm glad you got a chance to catch up on some sleep! I used to get up at 4:45 and get my workout done regularly, but somehow I just can't muster up the effort to do it now. I must be in a different season and I was lucky enough to be able to adjust the schedule to where I can work out later with out the day getting all messed up. I know you try to get it done because you actually have to go to work and are too tired to do it when you get home. So tough! I'm enjoying my modified schedule for now. I wonder if I'll ever go back to earlier mornings....
Rachael, it's good that you take the sleep if you need it! I didn't do my workout this morning either but plan to do it after work. It's the last of the 4DS workouts to finish off week 3 of the October rotation.
I did send some cookies over to my friend's place. She wasn't home yesterday so haven't been able to talk with her yet. I've left lots of messages so hopefully she'll want to talk soon. Cendrine, her DH had made some good progress. He was in a deep depression and required a length hospital stay with meds/ECT but he came home in the spring and was making some good progress. I don't know if he will ever return to work though. She had lost lots of weight back in the spring and she was blaming it on the stress of worrying about him but now we know it was a sign of the cancer.
My sister and family come home Sunday from California and I'll let you know how it went! I know they went to Alacatraz, my ds and nephew text each other:rolleyes:
I'm glad it's Friday just hasn't been such a good week, just seems to be a lot of little things to worry about this week. We're having to think about moving our Mexico trip, hockey politics, the possession letter for the house was suppose to be done but wasn't, rainy gloomy weather, this house going up for sale next week:eek: I just felt unsettled, anxious about things all week. I'm ready to move on to a new week!
What's
What's everyone's plans for Halloween??
Boy, Kim, if I was having to deal with all the stuff you are dealing with right now, I think I would permanently carry a chocolate chip cookie bag with me....;) I hope things get sorted out without too much effort, so you can get a little break from all the worrying. Sending cookies to your friend was nice! I hope she will let you be a part of this stretch in her life! I'm also glad to hear her dh is home, I hope he continues to get better as well!
Dh has an engineer at work whose wife was in ICU and died two days ago, so I am feeling like reaching out to him as well. But not knowing him at all makes it a bit hard. I might start with some cookies too! The wife was only 40, had some ongoing neuromuscular issue and apparently picked up spinal meningitis.... which dh thinks is what she died of. So sad.
Workout today was tm walk, weights from HSTA and pilates abs from abs circuits. It was a good workout.
