Well it's a pretty scary situation around here. We had hoped that the tropical storm Lee was going to give us some rain relief but instead we just got all the wind from the back end and now there are wild fires every where. There is one just down from my brothers house. The wind is just horrible and we are so dry that everything is just going up in flames so fast they can not get a handle on it. Please keep us in your thoughts.
So far we have been lucky to be on the back side of all the fires but this is really showing me how dangerous our situation is with the drought. Very Scary.

Sorry to start the thread off on that note, yall.

Please everyone have a great holiday...I hope you are enjoying your Monday Kim. I am not sure if yall get a holiday today.

Rachel, how scary! I'll be praying for you guys! Fires have such a life of their own! I remember a few years ago the fires were so bad down here we could not stay in our house because the smoke was penetrating the house and we could not breathe well. Luckily it never took down any houses in our neighbor hood, but it was terrible all the same! Keep us posted!

I woke up last night at 2am to the loudest thunder clap I've heard since moving here 13 yrs ago! It was right above us! and it hailed and rained, wish it would have done that were you are, Rachel!

Our camping trip was nice, we were home when it rained so we picked the right time to go! Just one night, but it was nice. We need to plan for a few days in a row now... ;)

I did high step challenge with cardio modifications and feel well worked out!

I'm hoping to be more consistent at posting, it seems it's working for me today, anyway! LOL!

Jo, you are such a hard worker! It was nice to see you pop in! Hope you get to do some spinning to help you feel better! I can tell you that you look nothing like what you said you feel you look like! But I know we are our own worst critics! And just working out helps us feel better about ourselves, so go do a spin!

Rachel, are you doing yoga still , now that your favorite instructor is on vacation, or are you doing other things?

Kim, school probably starts for the kids this week, I'm guessing? Or have they already started?

Off to go have lunch with my family. Enjoy your day, everybody!

Back from the lake. Not the nicest weather, starting to feel like fall. We slept in our camper and the propane heater ran out of propane during the night and it was pretty hard getting out of those warm sleeping bags in the morning!
The kids and I have tomorrow to relax and then school starts Wednesday!

I started the Sept rotation with Body Max 2 this evening.

Rachael How scary for you!! I sure hope you get some rain soon!! Is your brother still in the house???
I forgot to say congrats on the back bend! Are you doing the Sept rotation?

Cendrine It sounds like you're doing with the back injury as your doing more consistent workouts. Glad the camping trip went well!

Luckily the fire did not reach my brothers house but he is a Lt. Fireman and has been working all of yesterday and last night so I have not been able to talk to him yet. I hope that he is on a regular schedule and I will be able to get in touch with him after 7 this morning. The winds have really died down so I am hoping they were able to get a lot under control last night. Thank yall for all your concerns. It was really nerve racking all day long yesterday. Even where we are there was ash and lots of smoke in the air. Not as much smoke as yall had though, it sounds like, Cendrine.
Thank yall for all your thoughts for rain too. We really need it.

I started the September rotation yesterday but am not sure how much I will follow it. I did the 70 min premix for BM2 yesterday. It was all the upper body mixed in with the cardio and taking out the circuit blast which I did not mind a bit. Now I am trying to power up enough to go do 40/20. Not really what I feel like doing today.

Cendrine-I am ready to do some camping myself. Our temps fell into the 50's last night. I think we are turning into a dessert...no rain, everything is dying, hot during the day and cold during the night. Really...? What is going on around here? I am still doing the yoga. I pick up things from all the teachers. I just really clicked with this one in particular and she just happened to leave. LOL She will be back at the end of Sept. But then leaves for the winter in Nov some time.

Kim-Sorry you are losing your nice weather already. I am hoping we do not go straight from hot to cold. Kind of seems like a trend the last few years.

Better be off.

This morning I was busy with 40/20 and then 20 mins on the treadmill. Also went for groceries, stocked up on lots of healthy food which is expensive!!

This afternoon will plan to do something fun, relaxing with kids to enjoy our last day of summer holidays.

How did 40/20 go Rachael? My legs were tired from BM2 last night!

I am so glad things are better, Rachel, I hope the fires will be completely out soon. It's hard for me to comprehend sometimes how long a fire can be raging and how long it can take to completely put it out!

I am on a special 'rotation' for now where I work out Mo, We and Fri to a full workout, including weights and all, plus the stretches from chiro and then on Tu, Th and Sat I do the long list of ab exercises plus stretches. It takes a good half hour to do that routine, so tacking it on to a regular workout is too time consuming so I decided to give myself 'easy' days which is probably good for my back as well. I'm thinking of doing a cardio coach tomorrow.

Kim, I hope you have a great start to school routine! I'm curious, what kinds of snacks do you get? I sometimes get into a rut of the same old thing and totally forget about other healthy options...until someone else tells me about them...

Good Wed.

Fire update.
On Monday, I did not hear from my brother all day and all night. I knew he would be busy so I just texted him Tues. morning to get him to call me when he could. I went to town to do yoga and when I started getting closer it just became very apparent how bad things were. The whole city was black! I started to worry then because I had not heard from him. I dont have my phone while I am driving so I was relieved to check my phone when I got there and he was alright and got to go home for a break. Apparently the fires were a town over. I was surprised by that because from the look of the smoke you would think they were all around.

There are fires all over though. THere is one north of us that has burned 7000 acres and it is a really rural area and the rumor is that there is no one tending it, but you know how rumors go. I have a hard time believing that but then again since it is mainly pasture land and woods they might be more concentrated on the populated areas.
My brother said they were able to save all the houses on Monday but there have been some destroyed. This is the first time in my life that I have ever worried about fire. Now every time I see someone lighting up there grill I am going to freak out. That is how one of the fires was started on Sunday. We need some of Jo's soaking rain!

My alarm did not go off this morning so I am getting a late start but I am off to do BM the original.
I will be back later.
Rachel

Fires are so devastating and scary! I'm glad your brother is ok, Rachel!

Cardio coach 5 this morning and worked up quite a sweat! :)

Still really hot here... taking the kids to the pool for P.E. lol

How's thefirst day back to school for you guys, Kim?

Oh Rachael, I saw the fires on the news! How scary!!

The kids seem to have survived the first day of school. DD loved everything, good teacher, easy bus ride, good friends in her class. DS is not so sure about high school, it seems like a lot more work and less "fun" than junior high and it's a really long bus ride. I think he will ride his bike while the weather is nice.

After a little break here, I'm going to head downstairs to do Body Max.

Cendrine, nothing exciting for snacks here, the usual, fruit, yogourt, almonds, veggies/dip, crackers/cheese.

Good Thursday from the smoky state.

We are still here. Hoping for rain with none in site. I just keep thinking this is natures way of cleansing but I also can't imagine how the people feel that are in the fire zone right now. There is a massive fire about 50 miles or maybe a little more north of us. I have been seeing pictures on facebook and it is just hard to imagine that it is literally right up the road. From now on I think I will be less detached whe I see fire coverage in other states. I think before, I really could not imagine the severity of it not having experienced it more closely. Its just terrible. You said Cendrine!

I have been trying to stay busy around here to keep myself sane so started working on one of our dogs doghouses to make it look more appealing...What I have realized more than ever is that I am no artist! LOL As hard as I try...I can not paint a straight line for anything but I think I will Give myself an "A" for trying.:p:D

I am loosely following the September rotation mainly doing premixes of of whatever is called for on that day. I feel a lot less tension. I was going to tell yall that I think I improved my pikes today. Instead of looking back at my legs or belly area when I go up, I looked down at my hands. I went up so effortlessly the first time, I almost came off the ball forward...That surprised me! LOL Anyhow, if yall have never tried that, maybe it will work for yall too.

Kim-Woo Hoo that DD likes her new school and hopefully DS will find his groove and things will change for him too. They both seem like little social butterflies from your descriptions and I am sure that is going to go along way for DS in liking high school.

Cendrine-How is the rotation going so far? I am feeling more at ease with my willingness to cut back a little. I think I felt pressure to succeed and that was hindering me from ever having any breakthroughs really. I think that is weird but so far it seems to be working.

I have gabbed enough for one morning! TTYL

Have a great day!
Rachel

I'm sure you deserve that A Rachael!!

YOu have a lot of stress right now with the work situation and the forest fires. Keeping busy and working out are probably a great ideas.

Maybe the yoga helped improve the pikes!

I got KPC done today as well, I like the extra rest days on this rotation. It will be nice not to workout on a Friday night.

Nice job on the pikes Rachel! I'm sure the dog houses look great!
Kim, I'm glad you get to enjoy some workout breaks, it looks like we both welcome a little less intense schedule...
I'm gearing up to do bootcamp minus the high impact today.

I'm very excited, as I've been eating super healthy all week and have lost 4.5 lbs!! I'm following the program in the book 17 day diet which seems to be a common sense book about clean eating. I have to say I like the structure, just like a like the structure of a fitness rotation. Of course doing both Body Maxs in one week probably helped;)

Yesterday was a rest day on the Sept rotation which was very appreciated. We did go for a family walk though. Today will be SJP which is always such a fun workout. We have a tickets to see a travelling exhibition about Leonardo Da Vinci this afternoon and tomorrow is the big sold out football team against our biggest rivals, Regina (my hometown) which we're all excited about.
It's super hot (for us), it's going to be 32 C the average for this time of year is 19 so that is a big change.
The boys have their first ice hockey practice tomorrow so the season starts.

Everyone is still sleeping so I guess the first week of school tired them out.
What is everyone else doing for the weekend? Any sign of rain Rachael??

Awesome, Kim! Nothing like some great results to keep one motivated to eat well! I have been focusing on my eating more the last two weeks as well and have seen some results, although I don't weigh myself, because numbers mess with my head.... Let's keep up the good work!

We were at the dentist this morning and it started thundering and raining and hailing like crazy! Wish it would have done that your way, Rachel! Ds is miffed because the birthday party he was going to after dentist got cancelled because of the thunder storm.... dd has a birthday party to go to later today so he thinks it's not fair, never mind that his got rescheduled for tomorrow....
X-rays show he has a permanent moler stuck on a baby tooth because it's coming in at an angle and the baby tooth has to come out this Wednesdsay.... Hope it will be an easy process!

Dh's at the gym and I'm trying to order birthday presents for ds, since his birthday is coming up in October so I better get on it if I don't want to pay rush shipping....:p

Not much else going on this weekend, kind of like to just kick back and relax... But I did make beef jerkey with ds, since he was reading about how to make it in his native americans book and I made a batch of dried pear, pistacios and chocolate chip granola bars with dd. Should keep our snack needs covered for the week. :)

--->Clapping loudly<----:p For the both of you!!!!
I too have been doing well with the eating so it must be something in the air. I have been trying to make a balanced dinner every night for myself. Of course you all know that Dh's idea of a balanced dinner is meat, potatoes and bread. I try to sneak some healthy things in there for hime too when I can!

This has been a long day for me. It started at 3:30am. Since it is yoga month in September, the yoga studio I have been going to had free yoga starting at 4:30. There was going to be a different class than I have taken before at 4:30 so I thought I would attend that one and then ended up staying all the way through to the last class that was a vinyasa at 10:30. When I got home dh said that was a work day! I think he is right. I was wiped out so I took a 30 min nap. LOL

Cendrine-I do hope that the baby tooth comes out with no problem. I have had 2 friends that had similar situations and with both it seemed like they had no problems. In fact I was there with my bf and hers just popped right out. I think it even surprised the dentist. LOL

Kim-I can feel your excitement and I am excited for you. There is nothing better than a common sense diet because they are easy to follow and there are no crazy antics. Plus you always feel better because you are not starving and your body is usually getting more vitamins and nutrients from all the veges and fruits. I think I was surprised to realize that I could feel even better when I started really paying attention to what I ate more.

We are still super dry! No rain really in the next 7 days so yall both go outside the next time yall have rain clouds and blow them southeast! ;)
Hope yall both have a wonderful weekend!
