(:--->STS 6 month alumni-First week of Spring<--:)

Jo, I almost picked up some cantalope yesterday for drying too, but they simply did not look or smell ripe, so I am going to try again next week. However I am going to make chocolate almonds and kettle corn flavored almonds tomorrow! Should be fun too! Let me know how your fruit turned out!

Good Morning Yall!

Well we had nieces b-day party last night and it was so much fun. I think it was the first time in a couple of years that she had friends there and it is so fun teasing them all! Dh always pretends to take her gifts so when she was going off to play she said "Uncle"...and when he looked off at her she gave him the universal sign for I am watching you...It translates better in person but it was so funny and unscripted!

This morning was supposed to be kickbox but I did not get it in. I have been getting more and more tired here lately and we had a major storm that woke us up last night so when I got up this morning, I just laid on the couch and relaxed. I tried to catch some extra zee's but I could not go back to sleep but just knew I did not have the energy to give the kickbox what it needs so I will either make it up or I won't but I am not going to fret about it. I feel really good right now so I must have needed an extra day...Listen to our bodies right!

Cendrine-Thank you for making me not feel so guilty about not getting to post as much as I want. You are right but sometimes I beat myself up about the silliest things. The kettle almonds sound great. I have forgotten to mention how much I am loving the granola!!!! It is going to be my tried and true recipe from now on!

Jo-You are sounding so great. Back to your old self. I am so glad you got your meds changed to something that doesn't make you sick in other ways. Who needs that, right? The spin class sounds like fun. I think it would be great to go with a group of people that you know. I unfortunately do not have any fitness friends in person that I think would do something like that.
As far as meso 3 weights go, I think I am doing way better than I thought I was going to do. I need to adjust some of my leg weights for the lunges so I can get deep but on bi's I actualy went up. I am having doms even on the second week so something must be right!

Kim-Hey you !!!!

OK off to work

Have a great day!

Rachel

Rachel, I'm glad you took it easy. I'm feeling a bit tired myself so I think I am not doing anything else physical today.... I did manage to do the first round of each cardio core circuit and the abs portions of the workout. That sure gets you puffing!

I'm glad you like the granola, since I have been making mine in the dehydrator, dh and ds have been all over it, last time it was gone in a little over a week so this time I made a double batch!

I'm going to try and put those chocolate and kettle almonds in the dehydrator before the day is gone!

Hi Kim and Jo, I hope you are both feeling great!

Just want to let you know that I haven't disappeared. Yesterday I was out all evening after work for a farewell party for a coworker. I have to work tomorrow (I usually have Friday off) as we have so many post-op patients so tonight I tried to get all my Friday errands done. DS is having asthma trouble and we had some medication mixups so dealing with those. Tomorrow is my last day of work and then I'm off for 10 days!! So will catch up over the weekend!

Hi Girls! Well, I wasn't sure how I was feeling today but nothing like spin and yoga to bring a girl back to life!!!! Yessireee..I went to the gym with the girls and did a great spinning class and then yoga - double dipping so to speak! One thing fun about this is I'm still the only girl that is a long time working out girl! GF started in December with the Jillian Michaels DVD and then started running...I've introduced her to spinning, etc. The other two girls are COMPLETELY new to working out and just joined the gym this week! So it's really fun that they've all decided to get on the band wagon with us (me!). Last thing - don't be grossed out...but lots of stuff coming out of my sinuses and so had to have a GIANT hanky with me especially during spinning! Oh yeah...nothing like lots of cardio to loosen things up! Oh and I sucked in the yoga class...I'm very flexible but I had trouble following along as she moved pretty fast but I loved the leg stretching in the yoga class after the spinning class. We went right from spinning into yoga.

Rachel glad the b-day party was fun! Also, don't feel bad about being tired! I think we've all had to take some extra rest days of late...ya think? The weather may be affecting you too! Lots of time when it's real rainy it seems like I feel sluggish!

Cendrine, well, what did you think of those core sections in CCC? I'm planning to do more dehydrating this weekend. I don't think the bananas were done long enough and I may have overdid the apples...but the cantelope was perfect!

Kim, I'll bet you're looking forward to those days off! Hope DS gets better quickly!

Okay, off to wash my face. Talk to you all tomorrow. Oh, and it felt SO GOOD to workout tonight! SO GOOD!

Good morning Yall!

Nothing like a Friday to give you an extra burst of energy. It was disc 30 today. Bi's and tri's. I love those workouts! They are the ones that get me the most pumped up!. I was going to try to add on some abs but alas I ran out of time:rolleyes:. I do not know how that happens on Friday when I do not have to make lunch but I guess in my mind I know I have extra time so maybe I am slower getting started ...who knows!

We are ahead of schedule on our job so we are hoping to get alot of next week off and then starting the next phase the Monday after Easter. Not to be a horn tooter but we did kick butt this week. Now the super is our biggest fan..lol

Cendrine-How did the almonds turn out? They sound so good that I wish you could send me some...haha
I know what you mean about CCC. That is what is up for tomorrow and I have to start siking myself up for it today. It is the hardest one, I think. But I also feel so good when I have done it. Cardio has never been my strong suit.
I have almost finished that granola I made...And I am the only one eating it:eek: In fact...we got home so late last night, that I had a little cup for dinner and then I had a little more for pre workout snack this morning. Since it is not loaded with added sugar , I do not feel so bad!

Jo-I bet the other spinners were leaning away from you with all that fluid flowing! haha You must be super coordinated to be able to spin and blow your nose at the same time:p
I think your new workout friends are super lucky to have you leading the way on their new path. I do not think I know a better motivator. you motivate me from 1000's of miles away so can only imagine what kind of dynamo you are in person.!!!!

Kim-Wow 10 days OFF! What are you doing? Are yall going on a little vacation or anything? Cottage? It has been hard for me to get back to check in in the evenings too. By the time I get home it's eat and then bed!

Ok I better be off!

Have a great FRIDAY!!!!

Rachel

Hello Girls! I was off early this morning to a dentist appt (just cleaning) and then had to get 'molded' for a night guard. I am getting one that is violet tinted!

Today I'm going to the Body Jam (cardio dance) class again and then tomorrow I'm going to sit down and figure out what I'm doing with finishing Meso 3, etc. and replan my schedule. These girls have all committed to us all working out together on Thursday nights for spin and yoga so that will be fun!

Rachel you made my day by day by saying I motivate you! :D That means more to me than you know and I hope I have the same affect on these girls! And you should know you inspire me too! I think our friendships here are very motivating and inspiring and I know you guys help pull me through when I need it! Now come workout with me!!! Also, I KNEW you'd WOW that super! Excellen-tay!

Oh forgot to mention last night...so this girl spinning next me was like Lance Armstrong. It was an interval spin class so when we could finally have a moment to breathe and back off on the fire in our legs, this gal was stepping it up and riding even harder! She was unbelievable! Obviously a very hard core spinner! Yikes! I'd glance over when I was blowing my nose! LOL!

Okay, back to work, just wanted to say HI! Kim and Cendrine HELLO!

Hi Girls,

Jo, I second Rachel, you are extremely motivating, so much so that it surprises me that you are surprised to hear that! LOL! I'm so glad you got to work out and with such a fun way too! I think the cool thing about taking classes together is that you start when it starts, even if someone is not there yet. If i was going to work out with anyone, outside of the gym there would always be the issue of being late or what not, and that bugs me to no end.... (I am rather clock dictated...)
I looked for good cantaloupes again today and they all had mold spots on them! I can't believe they had the nerve to keep them on the shelf. Well, when I do find a nice one, how long did you dehydrate them for?

Rachel, I knew you would make the super your newest biggest fan, but congrats and high fives to both of you! I hope you get to do some fun stuff on your earned free time! You know, the granola in my opinion, with some blueberries and greek yoghurt makes a completely fine no cook meal for those days when you just don't have time or don't want to and it feels like a treat even though it is completely good for you! Gotta love that!
I didn't get the almonds into the dehyrator until after dinner tonight... so I can't say for sure how they are, but I tasted some wet and the flavor was great.

Kim, happy spring break to you! I bet you are going to do lots of fun stuff as a family! I hope ds' asthma issues are resolved so he gets to enjoy the break without more dr visits and stuff like that!

I did the weight portion of Body Max 2 today. It was good and I just really like the music on that one. the CCC by the way, I think was a bit too much high impact for me for the time being. I'm glad I did it but I think I will stick to gentler ones for right now. I got to have a 30 min massage on my lower back at the chiro office today. It felt really nice and I get to go back again two more times. She will show me some exercise that should help fix more of what isn't quite right with my back. She said my back was very concaved, saying I must have week lower abs.... I told her I work them out three times a week, so she decided it was probably from my two pregnancies and my back just and abs just never quite getting back to the way they were... She thinks there are some exercises I can do to help the issue. I hope it works!

Good Morning yall!

Well it is family day so after I go in there and bust out CCC I will be cleaning up a storm. It is going to be great weather so I hope we can all be outside alot. It will be fun to play with the kiddos outside.

I made two dips off the eating well website and I think the are great but we will have to see how the not so healthy family will respond to them.
One was a french onion and the other was a black bean. Both really simple.
But sometimes simple still tastes great. I am really wondering about the black bean one. That one seems the farthest from something my family would like. I mean with the french onion, it looks like a regular dip so we will see. If they do not eat the black bean dip I will either turn it into a soup or a burrito spread. :D

Jo-The girl that was spinning beside you was probably trying to get away from your runny nose!:D:D:D Just kidding. But I did make myself laugh on that one.
You are the best motivator and I too think it is funny that you did not realize that. That to me says it is so natural for you that you do not even notice it. It will be fun to hear about your gf's progress in the classes and yours too!

Cendrine-The massages sound great. I need a good massage but never have time to go get one. It sounds like your chiro is really trying to help you. Some seem like they just want you to keep coming for the cash. You will have to let us know what exercises she tells you about. I know that I use my back alot and I could benefit from them. Preventative, you know. I think I would hold off on CCC too if I was just getting started. It is a hard one. I am right now setting here stalling. Hopefully I have siked myself up enough that is is easier than I think it will be... Not a chance in Heck!

Kim- Happy Spring Break!

OK off to get my butt kicked!

Have a great day!

Rachel

Well you girls have been busy over the last few days. Forgive me if I miss responding to something:eek:

It's SPRING BREAK, I'm so happy to be off work for 10 days!! The whole family is off. We had initially thought about going on a vacation somewhere but with the house buying changed our minds and decided to save the money. I hoping to do a combinatin of fun family outings (like swimmng, museums, movies), relaxing and house projects to get the house ready to sell. We're thinking of putting this house up for sale in June but love to spend the weekends camping/cottaging once May/June hits so would like to get most of it done soon.

DS seems to be holding his own with just increasing his asthma meds. He would probalby benefit from a course of prednisone too if he doesn't get better over the next day or two we will go to the dr's and get some. I didn't work out yesterday as my friend invited ds to come to her curling game so he could try it out and see if he liked it. He was so excited! He really enjoyed it! By the time we got home it Friday evening of spring break and it just seemed like family time, played scrabble with ds, read books with dd, watched some tv together so I skipped my workout. So now I'm behind on the workout calendar:eek: Today will be disc 30 and tomorrow the dreaded CCC.

Cendrine It's so good to hear you talking about your workouts! Your chiro really seems to be helping you! Doing STS over the summer holidays seems like a good plan! You asked about the next house projects, hmm, I want to clean out a couple of cupboards, a bookcase needs cleaned out and repaired. I also want to work on some carpet stains. It's getting really nice out so hopefully we can start the spring cleaning of the yard, raking etc. there is also lots of wood from the old shed we tore down last fall. We have a little bonfire pit so I would like to get that going and get rid of some of the wood so that the backyard is tidier. I want DH to do some touchups of stuccos, replace some baseboards and do some caulking in the kitchen. I think that's a good list for the week off.

Rachael That's great that the job is going so well!! Sounds like your having some nice family time this last week. Enjoy the family day today! ANy plans for when you finish Meso 3??

Jo Yeah, I'm so glad that your feeling better!! The cycling class sounds like fun, isn't it fun to work out with friends! My running friends are starting to run together again but I just don't feel ready to join them, I feel a little PF still in my foot, I've gained some weight, my asthma seems a little off. I'm fine running on my own but they are fast and I know if I push my self I would end up in trouble mayber later in the spring.
I have to admit that I was glad to see Lance going! He and his wife were annoying me, I know they do lots of creative editing so it's hard to know what people are truly like but she seemed very self centered.
What's the mouthguard from the dentist for??

Hi Guys,

I met my friend at an English Tea house this morning, I take her there every year for her birthday. It was so beautiful we sat outside and stayed there way past the bill being placed on our table.... ;)

We will go on a bikeride as a family this afternoon before doing some family fun night things tonight.

Kim, it sure is a lot of work to get the house ready, but it is also nice to get it done early so you can do like you said and enjoy the warmer days for weekends at the cottage and such!

Rachel, I'm sure you won't have an issue using up the bean dip if no one likes it but it probably is really tasty! How'd you do on CCC?

Well, I'm gonna try to schedule my kid's swim classes for this spring, I have a hard time not playing phone tag with the instructor... Hopefully I'll be successful today!

Busy day today! I'll start with last night. Went to the BodyJam class and again had a really good time. Then this morning (first let me say I finally SLEPT 8 hours last night) I went and walked 20 minutes on the TM, then took a Pilates class (my abs will be killing me tomorrow!) then did Cardio Coach for 60 minutes on the spin bike. Went home, had a salad, did laundry, etc. Then went back to the gym with our roommate (who I'm trying to motivate!) and we went and watched part of a movie in the Theater room while walking on the TM. (I wasn't power walking though...just nice and easy.) Needless to say I feel great but not overdone. And I can't tell you how good it is to get BACK to working out! Tomorrow I plan to start Meso 3 over (I had done 1/2 of the first week before getting sick). You know I find that whenever I've been sick or had a headache or something, my body is really craving cardio. So it felt good to do all that - now I'm ready to tackle the weights! Oh, and I'm not a fan of Pilates but it was a pretty good class. I feel very stretched and my goodness, but this gal worked the core!

Kim, I hope you enjoy your break! Sounds like you're geared up to combine projects and fun! The mouth guard is because I'm having problems with a tooth and they think I'm clenching. They've actually thought this for a couple years but I didn't...now I do as I've actually woken up and am clenching and then end up with a toothache. Glad to hear DS is doing okay. I finished my last prednisone today.

Rachel, hope family day is FUN! Forgive me but I love hearing stories about you trying to feed healthy to the "not so healthy eaters!" I love black bean dips! Today (during my time home from the gym :p) I put more cantalope, apples, green apples, apples with cinnamon, pears, and clementines in the dehydrator. I plan to make chips tomorrow - I would have done them today but wasn't home long enough to do it!

Cendrine, interesting what the Dr said about your core! It will be interesting to hear what exercises they give you. Ohhhh the English Tea place sounds like a great place to be on a Saturday! Glad you got to enjoy some girl time! How was the bike ride? I still haven't received my first issue of Clean Eating! WHERE IS IT?

Okay, off to wash my face. I know I'll be ready for bed early tonight. Tomorrow is big house cleaning day! Also, thank you again for the motivating compliments...no, I've never thougt I was so much a motivator as I just TALK ALOT and people look at me and blink their eyes!

Okay, good day to everyone tomorrow and happy Sunday!

One last post. In the Pilates class we did a leg move that the instructor said would lift our butts. Sure enough tonight I really feel it on the top of my glutes, even a little higher up than I usually feel on some of Cathe's moves (of course with Cathe I hurt everywhere so who could tell the difference????). But as always I can't for the life of me remember what the move WAS! I know I will want to do that move again!!!

I wonder how much fun the SD Road Trip girls are having....sniff sniff teardrop...sniff sniff....teardrop....

Okay, again, my one year membership to the gym cost me the same as if I had gone on the roadtrip! Oh, and I found out today, the two girls GF and I got to join the gym got each of us a free month!
