<---STS 6 Month Alumni---> Father's Day Week of June 20

Hi Girls! Well I went to work with the plan of having to come home (because of my headache) and then I started getting better...so by 2:30 I was back to normal but tired as I didn't have much sleep last night. So debating about spinning and thought I'd go use the TM. Well then I decided I'd go to spinning, do what I could and just leave the class after 30 minutes. WELL! Aren't our bodies resilient? No kidding I had the best spin ever! I rode 2 miles farther than normal, hit my all time high RPM and felt GREAT! Go figure! I should exercise more on no sleep! :D It was one of those cardio sessions where you just keep thinking about it all night long (can you say major endorphins? LOL!) And now I'm getting a little headachey again but hopefully it will stay away.

Cendrine, YES isn't that barley peach dish WONDERFUL! I'm with you, I measure everything by Costco size! LOL! I'm going to make that salad again this weekend for a BBQ we're going to. For the cantaloupe I think I dehydrate around 14 hours. I hope you like it as it's been a huge hit for me! I feel for DH and the long hours! My foot is better. (I just knelt down to check.) It still hurts but not as bad as it did over the weekend - like Kim, I don't know what the heck it is.

Rachel, you're giving me way too much credit! But I'm ecstatic if I inspired you! And thank you for that! :D GREAT JOB ON THAT WORKOUT!!! How nice the ladies liked the floor - it's so exciting for people to see how things come together! And I'm sure it makes you feel accomplished. Anytime you can put a smile on someone's face is a good day!

Kim, the foot thing is so weird! I'll pass on the thumbs up to DH about A team. We want to see it. Glad your garden is coming along. Our tomatoes are barely growing since our weather has been so cold! Congrats on getting those shoes back on! LOL! I agree though, it IS the little things that make us happy!

Alright, off to bed! Tomorrow I'll try again for Push/Pull then I have a birthday dinner with a girlfriend (hers not mine!).

Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

Good WednesdaY!

I decided to snooze the clock today and take it easy. When I did get up I got the extended stretch in and that was it. I feel great though. I do think it is good to miss a workout on purpose every now and again. Unlike when you have one planned and something gets in the way. ALthough I always say I don't feel guilty about it I still think about missing it and where I can fit it in so this way I have no thoughts whatsoever...LOL

Today we should get alot done at work so it should be a good day. These floors are in horrible shape so it takes alot to get them ready, esp. for vinyl, so it is nice when you actually get to see some fruits of your labor.

I hope you all are having great day!

Happy Hump Day! I woke up early with a migraine again but was able to squash it in time to workout. Our weather patterns here are killing me right now! These are all weather/sinus induced migraines. Anyway, I did Push/Pull this morning. I haven't done it in ages (maybe a couple of years?). It's nice as it's not too taxing, over in 40 or minutes, hits every muscle group once and I still feel accomplished. Cendrine, you might take a look to see if you could do part of that with real light weights.

Tonight meeting GF for the birthday get together dinner. It's just her, me and her other good friend (they've been friends longer). So it will be nice. I've never met her friend.

Rachel, I totally agree on missing workouts! If nothing else, you get that extra rest (stretch) day and you come back even stronger and with more energy! :p:eek::cool::D Hope your day is as productive as you're planning it to be!

Hope you're all having a good middle of the week!

Just so you know how cool it's been here...they are reporting we haven't hit 75 degrees in 272 days... :(
Oh where oh where has summer gone
oh where oh where can it be
with it's bright warm days
and it's low cloud haze
Oh where oh where can it be...

Well Poo on Productivity! haha

We had some issues with the way the architect had the pattern laid out. We noticed a little bit of fluctuation in the size of the tiles yesterday but it was really obvious with this new layout we got into today. It is hard to explain with out showing you but basically where some of the tiles come together it is creating a gap because they are not all the same size. It is very frustrating because we surely do not want people to think that is an installer error. Oh well the architect came today and now the product rep has to come and so on and so forth. So needless to say it was not as productive as we wanted.
It will be better tomorrow.

I think I might try low max tomorrow. I like that workout so I am going to plan on it for now.

Jo-That is miserable. Now don't get me wrong..I love 60 and above but I like our 70's around here. It's funny we probably won't get below 95 for the next 60 or 70 days but to have not been to 75 in that many days is something that I can't really wrap my head around since I have lived here all my life. Maybe your summer is just starting late and yall will have a mild fall...I will keep the glass filled half full for you! ;)

Cendrine and Kim I hope yall are having a great day!

Gonna go chow down on some grub!

Another busy day here for us! Isn't it funny how summer break can be crazier than regular schedules.... The kids so need a down day and a long nap! And I need some downtime too, I'm spreading my alone time thin with all the activities I don't want the kids to miss!
I didn't get to the canaloupe, Jo, might try it tomorrow.... I loved your little song! You are so creative! Sorry about the cold temperatures though! It has been nice here but not as hot as it can be in June. The pool water is 85° but there is a cool breeze, so when the kids get out of the pool they shiver...
I did another CC workout today and enjoyed it again. Pilates tomorrow and hopefully a calmer day. I need some time to menuplan for the week ahead. I made the salmon melt today which was well received by all. It's hard to believe there is no mayo in it! Turned out quite yummy and was rather quick and easy to make!
Sorry about the hickup at work, Rachel, I guess you do the best you can, but some things are out of your control, but it is annoying! Enjoy Low Max tomorrow!

Jo, I do have push and pull on my wishlist!

How's it going with you, Kim?

Hi Everyone...really run late today so will try and post more later. I did want to tell you this. Had a great time with GF last night, met her other GF and her GF wants to pay me to train her! Probably not for a long period of time but to help her get started and work out a program for her. I said NOoooo you're not going to pay me! Anyway, she works near me so will come join our gym. She has worked out in the past so not like starting with a newbie but she is one of those people that hates to work out. So I'm trying to get her to come do resort night with us.

Gotta go...a meeting awaits me!

Jo, how fun is that! I bet you will get her to love resort night! You'll get her to work out and have fun in no time!

Ds is at a playdate with a friend all day and I took dd on a bike ride to Starbucks where she had a cup of fruit and a chocolate milk. I did pilates before that and now I'm really trying to get some stuff done....

Oh hurry Friday!!! lol

I am telling you even though this week flew by for the most part, I can not wait until it is over. If it is not one thing its another.
This morning we picked up one of the guys that is working with us and I think he might have been a little drunk! Oh I was so mad...We had already gotten down the road before it occurred to me that that was what the deal was. He was not fall down drunk but it was like he drank to long and late the night before and then when he woke up he was residually (word?) drunk. We did not want to have that conversation at work so dh left to go have it now. You just can not find good help. That is why I hate having to have help. I am trying to get rid of all the negativity that I have had all day from it but it hard not to still be mad. OK enough of that.

This morning I did do LM but I only had time for a premix so I did 1-4...I decided since it was all I was doing that I would really try to burn my legs up by going deep when it called for it or really trying to concentrate on the thighs. That is a good workout when you are not trying so it is killer when you are.. I am not sure what I will do tomorrow.
I was going to ask if any of you have ever had tendinitous and if so what did you do to get over it. I think I might have a little in the elbow of my right arm and I do not want to aggravate it but I do not want to lay of the weights this next month either since I have the reunion. uggh dilemma! haha

Jo-I think it is great that you are so fit and full of energy that people actually turn to you for training and advice. That is too cool! That also tells me that you are approachable about it too. You know some people are kind of snots about being in great shape and it makes them so hard to talk to about it. I think your gf's gf is going to have so much fun once she gets started. SOme times you just need a new approach.

Cendrine-I hope you catch a break and get some alone time in the near future. I have been crabby and kind of snippy here lately so I think I could use some too...or at least dh could probably do good to be away from me for a little bit..lol Poor thing he is in the direct line of fire when I am in a mood.
I seems like your workout schedule is fitting you pretty good right now. It is nice that you have found something that you can do that is not aggravating your back.

Hope you are having a great week, Kim.

I am off to relax and watch something mindless and happy hopefully on TV.

Rachel

Ok quick in and out for me. I did CCC this morning but I did the 34 min premix. It goes through the drills once with the abs. Still tough. I am not sure but I don't think I gave myself a good rest this week. It is probably a combo of stress and whatever but I am feeling a little rundown. I might take the weekend off but then again I have a pool party tomorrow night and I will be thinking about that when I get up in the morning. lol

Well I am off to a yummy breakfast and the last day of work for a few...

I have to run to work so will have to do personals later but have to tell you all something. DH phoned me at work yesterday and was laughing so hard he could hardly tell me that our dd (the princess) won athlete of the year. I thought he was crying and that she had been injured.
This is my little princess who does her crafts and plays with her dolls. She plays no organzied sports. She won't ride her bike around the block because it's scary, she won't skate because it's too cold, etc. She is the Athlete of the Year.:D:D:D:confused::confused::confused: Oh it's just so funny.

I think she is really quite athletic but hates sports and doesn't volunteer to participate at home. At school she listens and does what the gym teacher says and did volunteer for walking club (because her friends were in it) and running club (because mom made her).
Now her dad is going to be bugging her even more to sign up for a sports team.
Her brother who loves and plays every sport was just dumbfounded.
We were at a big family dinner last night, and I was telling people. They all kept saying "Congratulations, um, I didn't know she played sports" LOL

I posted a picture of my athlete of the year on my fall 2009 album.

Kim, that is funny! LOL! Did your ds ever get an award like that for all the sports he is involved in? I bet it made her day! Maybe it will be motivation for her to keep moving. But as a side note, I never played any teamsports ecxept for what we had to do in P.E. I'm not a teamsports kind of gal... So I can relate to dd ;) My dd is only just getting into biking (she had a few too many falls last year to like it... because her handlebars can turn 360° and whenever she overcompensates for a wrong turn she does too much of it and ends up tipping over... I wonder when she will be ready to take the training wheels off. Ds learned when he was 5 but he got so mad sometimes while learning that he would stand there and kick his bike... He does not like having to persevere at anything because usually everything comes easy... So I keep throwing challenges his way so he learns that persevering is really just part of life...

Rachel, I'm so sorry about the trouble you have with the help you get for your jobs! That is frustrating! How did the talk go? Take the rest this weekend, one less workout isn't going to make a difference for your toned and in shape body for the pool party! I'm taking a rest today myself. I have a play friend for ds coming over all day and I just know I'll need my energy...LOL!

Hi Jo, what's on the plate for you today?

FRIDAY!!! So glad it's here! Wow, GREAT NIGHT last night for resort night! I worked the girls hard on abs between spinning and water aerobics. Also, a couple of weeks ago we had had a substitute for water aerobics and a couple of people told our instructor (innocently) that the sub was tougher on us so she decided to really step it up a notch. So I got killer spin and killer water aerobics (if there is such a thing!) LOL!

Rachel, so I think sometimes you're just having a tired week depending where you are in your cycle (my theory of course!). So combination of stress and just having a tired body zaps your energy. That's how I was last week and then this week I've been unstoppable! Hope things got worked out with the helper. That is so frustrating! I work with someone who drinks alot and though we're not doing physical work, if I have to sit next to him in a meeting in the morning - uggghhhh the smell of booze and cigarettes is more than I can take.

Kim, that is a hoot about DD! I can imagine your amusement. Gave me a smile too! Might also be motivating for her to have received that accomplishment. Cute picture!

Cendrine, whatcha got planned on the cooking front this weekend? I have some really ripe peaches so will be making that barley dish again to take to the BBQ. I have a big pineapple so thinking about throwing some pineapple pieces in there as well.

Gotta get going. I have a little more to say but will have to wait until later. We have a short day at work today so GF and I are going to gym this afternoon and I'm going to help her with a full body workout.

Just came home from taking the kids out to celebrate with some pizza:D:D Today was ds's turn he won the biggest award in the junior high class. The CAP (Citizenship, Academic and Physical) for the highest achiever in all 3 areas! That's my boy!! The teacher emailed me yesterday but I wasn't able to get time off work. My mom and DH were able to go watch him get the award.

Last night we had a big family get together at my cousin's house as some out of town relatives were in town. So didn't get a workout in. Will do my Insanity in a bit here. Not much on the agenda for the weekend. Looking forward to some downtime.

Jo What's the forecast for your weekend, any warm weather headed your way?? How flattering that someone what's to hire you as a personal trainer. That's nice of you to offer to get her started.

Rachael Did you get the flooring pattern all worked out? Describe your elbow issue in more detail and I'll see if I can "diagnose" you. Is the pain sharp, "pin and needles", or achy? Is it on the inside or outside of your elbow? Does it happen when your elbow is bent or straight? Does it shoot into the fingers? At rest or with activity?

Cendrine Do you have some downtime in your schedule this weekend?? DS has won MVP (most valuable player) three years with hockey but never won a school sports award.

Another quick story, that ds told me last night. A kid he didn't really know made a joke to him about being "weak like his mom", ds said his friends all piped up and said "You haven't seen his mom!" LOL DS said they were commenting on how strong my arms look, LOL

Kim, you are certainly getting to enjoy "proud mom" this week! WOW! How wonderful for DS! Too bad you didn't get to see him get the award! Did DH take pictures?

Rachel, I'm anxious to read how Kim diagnoses you! I have a little issue with my left elbow on the outside...it's never turned into full blow "can't do anything" tendonitis but it bothers me mostly if I do standard pushups...so need to always do wide arm pushups. And it bothers me sometimes for endurance weight lifting (Meso 1 style) but not heavier slower workouts. So I guess I've learned what not to do to aggravate it. Maybe what I have is not tendonitis but when it first occured about 8 years it bothered me for a couple of months. Fast paced movement is what gets me so if I do something that is painful I quickly stop!

Cendrine, we must have been posting about the same time this morning. I'm laughing about DS kicking his bike! Today is my rest day. SS went backpacking so DH and I will have house to our selves until tomorrow night!

TTYL!

Jo, I'm laughing every time I picture him back when he was learning, kicking his bike...:D It probably made him even more mad that we would think this is funny....
I made blueberry bread with ds and his playdate to keep them busy. I had lots of dried blueberries that noone seemed to want to eat and I finally decided that if I put them in a bread they would go for it and I was right. Half the loaf is already gone and the other loaf went home with the playdate....!!! Now of course dh tells me to get more blueberries to make more blueberry bread, even though my whole reason for making it was to get the bag of blueberries out of my pantry....
I ended up using the cantaloupe for one of our green smoothies instead of dehydrating it. I won't have too much time this weekend to spend in the kitchen, but I am planning on making some kind of muffin or something to pack for treats for the day camp next week for the kids. I have been assigned den leader to ten boys, I only know 3 of them.... and I was told I needed to keep them busy inbetween stations in case they were backed up, and was going to have to get them ready to do a skit and a song for the family picnic on Friday! The things they don't tell you until after you volunteer! So I'm gonna have to surf for some skit ideas, as I am drawing a complete blank!
Rest day was good today. I think I needed it.
Kim, Congrats again! You must be ten inches taller simply because of seeing your kids do so super well! I'm glad someone could be there to see ds get the award! Next time there's a school happening where that kid who made the joke is going to be at, you should wear a sleeveless shirt just to show off! LOL! I had to laugh hearing how ds's friends piped up about you! Very cool! You're a cool mama!
Rachel, sorry about your elbow! I can't help at all in that department, I would not have even known what questions to ask, but evidently Kim is more than capable to talk to you about it!
Since we are talking issues, I had trouble with my right knee, the cap popping all the time and after I was told I needed to stretch the outer side of my thigh to loosen things up I then ended up getting worse. Squats and lunges were no longer pain free either. But now that I have not done any leg work in so long, I find my knee is quite fine. I hope it won't show up again when I get back into lifting.
Well, I better go get some more stuff done. I don't think I 'm going to get much of a down time until after camp is over.... Well, it's just a week, it'll be ok... But if you don't hear from me much next week, you'll know why...

Good Saturday Morning!

It's 6:30 and I am setting here in my workout clothes but still don't know what I want to do! lol I am still throwing up the idea of doing no workout at all and then getting a rotation up to start Monday but I am on the fence about that too. I guess I will see how I feel after this. Sometimes days like this are my best workout days...the surprise ones so we will see.

The work issues finally got straightened out yesterday afternoon. I guess people can't make things like they used to. The architect has decided to fill the gaps with caulk. I was just glad they figured something out before alot of people came in there and saw the gaps and thought we did not know what we were doing. I hate that. I felt like I need to make a pamphlet that explained all the issues.. Even though half these people would not know us from adam there are a few that ask us about other project we have done there so I would be embarrassed to admit something if it looked bad. But it's resolved now and we should be good to go which should make next week a better one!

Kim-Wow on the kids achievements! I have to ask, was dd as surprised as yall were? lol You have 2 athletes and you did not even know it! LOL I love that your ds friends know you so well that they were able to jump in. I agree with Cendrine on the sleeveless shirt idea! Maybe an unintentional flex now and then:D
As far as the elbow thing...It definitely is pain when there is action. I have to cut in material and it seems to hurt inside in the bend when I am pulling but if I rub around the elbow, it is tender around the bone that is on the inside. It is more of an achy pain and it is only isolated to that area. I think it is definitely going to be a use thing because since I did not glue much this week and did not do any weights...it is not that bad.

Cendrine-So have you got any ideas on the skits you are thinking about. How old are the kids? Does it need to be about anything specific...Like a specific situation or a moral or anything. Maybe we can help you brainstorm. Dh and I are always coming up with things we think would be funny Saturday Night Live skits.
The blueberry bread sounds great. Isn't it always the way...You felt so accomplished that your blueberries did not go to waste and now they are wanting more!! I think it shows skill that you turned something they wouldn't eat into an apparent masterpiece! haha

Jo-The helper issue probably is a work in progress. They will probably not make it until the end of this job but we will see. It is sad that it is a man that is my age and I feel like I have to remind him to stay sober on Sunday so that he is suitable for work. Very maddening sometimes!
I think you are probably right about the cycle and stress and probably my diet has not been on like I like it either. We were supposed to go pick vegetable last weekend and DH and I got caught up and couldn't go so I was lacking on a lot of my staples this week so maybe the lack of some of the vitamins and nutrients that I have gotten used to could also be the blame...Pretty much the perfect storm to make for a blah week! LOL

Ok still on the fence about the workout but I will let yall know later! haha

TTYL

Rachel

OK...I decided on about an hr of P90 yoga so with that out of the way I can get on with the day!:D
It is some pretty leg burning stuff so I still feel tingly all over...
I hope you all have a great day. I am going to try and get some errands done and some stuff around the house before my gf's birthday/pool party. It's funny we are in our 30's and still have all of her birthdays at her parents...It makes me feel 15 when I am over there! LOL

Have a great day!
Rachel

Good Morning! So today is day #5 of waking up with a headache (so sick of this) but it's not as bad as the other days. I'm going to do Cardio Coach Push Play today which is about 70 minutes. I'm doing it here on my spin bike not at the gym. See that's the other thing about having everything at home...if I don't feel totally "up to it," I haven't driven to the gym, then decide I want to come home. Here I can just stop and get back in bed if I want! LOL! Oh the many many benefits of options! :p

Rachel, I have not done P90X Yoga in EONS! In fact, I haven't done P90X in EONS! I almost forgot I had that. You got that for DH right? So did he ever try it? If I remember right, my favorite parts of that program are the arm workouts. I bought that when it first came out in 2005 and I believe have done that series twice but stuggled getting through it as I got tired of Tony. I haven't picked it up again since. I take that back, I think I attempted twice but not sure I finished the second time through. You have fun with the birthday girl! Glad the floor issues got worked out and hope your arm gets better quickly. Oouch!

Cendrine, I'm laughing over the blueberries! I think I may have that same bag of blueberries (did you get them as Costco?) :p I can't wait to hear about some of your adventures this week at camp! You are probably going to be very busy and get lots of sleep! LOL! No workouts needed! Yeah, hope your knee issues don't come back. But it goes to show we need to rest our bodies and joints when they're talking to us!

Feels like headache is almost gone so I'm going to go spin. Talk to you all later and happy Saturday! Hi Kim!

Insanity finished for today! Can I start an Insantiy countdown? :D18 workouts to go! I put the workouts out on my calendar as I was wondering how it would work with some of our camping weekends. I will finish this rotation but goodness these are hard workouts.

Jo DH took some cell phone pics that are really blurry. There was a large trophy that his name gets engraved on but it stays in the school trophy case where they add each year's winner on it. He is supposed to get some kind of plaque but they didn't have it yet.
I'm so sorry about the headache! Do you think it's all weather related??Hopefully the spinning doesn't make it worse. I was just thinking about the cardiocoach workouts, I like to do a few after I finish Insanity.

Cendrine I was smiling at your ds kicking his bike as well. Some things are very frustrating to learn how to do! You are going to be a busy scout mom! What is your dd doing all week? Is she attending the day camp with you? The blueberry bread sounds yummy! I think ds's friends like us (DH and I) because we let them hang out here:rolleyes::rolleyes: I always kick them out of the basement when it's my workout time so they know I workout.

Rachael Have fun at the pool party!
I used to put YogaX on a little travel dvd player so I could do it while watching TBL on the big tv when I did my P90X rotation. It's a good workout but boring!
I've been looking at Cathe's rotations trying to decided what to do after Insanity even though I have 3 weeks left. I finish with Insanity right before my holidays so probably will take a couple of rest weeks then I would like to start a new rotation. I'm curious to see what she posts for a July rotation.
I'm glad that you got your flooring design issues worked out. I guess what the architect thinks would look good on paper isn't always pratical.
DD was very surprised about the award! In the gym teacher's speech she said the award recipient came from a very athletic family, LOL and then dd realized that she was getting it.She also laughs about it, she had no idea that she was getting it.

Okay more elbow question. If you bend your elbow all the way, so your hand is touching your shoulder (wrist not bent at all). Hold it this way for 2 minutes does that cause the pain to start? When you say it hurts inside the bend when you are pulling is your palm up or down? Does the pain wake you at night?
