Stripping and sanding down a kettlebell handle

Has anyone any experience in stripping and sanding down a kettlebell handle? Was told that it is best to do that if we want to do lots of snatches. However, I have no idea how to go about it. Hope someone can share their knowledge with me.

Thank you

I think Anthony Diluglio might have a video showing how to do it on his site www.artofstrength.com .

Do you have a kettlebell with vinyl on the handles? Is that what you are stripping off? Or are you just talking paint? If it's just paint, then you can do it all with sanding. Go to the hardware store (a real one, where people actually know what they are talking about, not the one it Walmart) and ask someone what grit of sandpaper would work best (maybe two grits: one more coarse for removing the coating, one more fine, for polishing).

Then just wrap the sandpaper around the handle with your hand around it (the sandpaper would be like the palm of a glove) and work back and forth around the handle.

HTH!
