Stretch Max instead of yoga??

I have tried yoga for years now, as a way to combat what a back injury and 10 years of landscaping have done to my body. However, most of the time I really don't feel all that strecthed out after yoga, and a lot of times I have gotten frustrated with my lack of flexibility that I have shut the tape off. I attempted taking some yoga classes at a studio in the area, only to find yoga instructors who were way too involved in the spirituality of the practice for my tastes.

I recently bought Stretch Max, and while it didn't turn me into gumby overnight, I did feel stretched out all over after my first attempt this morning. I did the segment that uses no equipment, and am really looking forward to attempting the other segments.

Very impressed with this tape. I always do my homework when purchasing a DVD, and spend a lot of time reading reviews on collage video, and noticed some people thought Cathe looked disinterested while leading this. I thought just the opposite. If I'm doing a kickbox, step, or weight workout, I want and expect a fired-up Cathe. If I'm doing stretch, I want a calmer atmosphere condusive to relaxation..and therefore a calmer Cathe...she delivered, yet again!!

I am a very satisfied Cathe fan!!

I also love Stretch Max. I have had similar experience trying yoga (though I have a few DVDs I use on occasion). I am not interested in the spiritual side either, but I do like a very relaxing stretch. I also like Total Body Stretching, though the segments are much shorter. It's good for an add-on after doing a tough cardio workout. I'll do the stretch that comes at the end of the workout and then also do a Total Body Stretching or Stretch Max segment--feels great! I hope Cathe comes out with another all-stretching workout some time.

I love Stretch Max. I have the FitTV versions saved on my Tivo. I feel all loosey-goosey after doing one.

The other day I did two sections back to back after a warm-up to lead me into a 4 day rest. Wow, did I feel great!

Sometimes I think stretching gets overlooked. I certainly overlooked it. But now I can almost do a front-back split. Not because I was trying to do so, but my feet slipped on the carpet and I found myself in the split position just an inch from flat and it didn't hurt. :)

Thanks for the comments - I've been thinking about getting StretchMax. I'll add it to my wish list now!

I do pretty well w/ yoga for stretching, though. I think it depends on the instructor/DVD. My favorite is Rodney Yee Energy Balance segments 1 and 2.

I started with Basic Yoga for Dummies by Sara Ivanhoe...she is a fantastic instructor..she had to be to keep me doing yoga for as long as I have. I have looked into other tapes from other instructors...I just didn't care for them.

Did Stretch Max again this morning..felt great...almost could have stood a nap when I was done is how relaxed I was!
