I am considering buying this video (since I can't seem to snag it on the exchange) and have read some reviews, but I am wonering what any of you may have to say about it.

Thanks.

Hi Kim

Well, I wrote one of those reviews, so this may be a re-hash of what you've already read. I like this video a lot, but be warned that it is very different from one of Cathe's strength training videos and will give you very different benefits and results than Cathe's. (And I love Cathe's strength videos, especially the PS series, from which I've gotten wonderful results, thank you thank you, Cathe Friedrich.)

SB&F is an hour long and you use 8-pound dumbbells for most of it -- that right there tells you that you won't be seeing much muscle growth from this workout. It goes by fast, because she uses a real variety of interesting moves. You'll get really good at doing bicep curls while you're holding a one-legged squat position. The ab section is excellent too.

I look at this as an enjoyable workout, a nice change from heavy weights, and a good way to develop the smaller stabilizing muscles that you need in sports and everyday living -- that whole "functional fitness" thing. I feel like doing this workout regularly will help me grow stronger, be more coordinated and protect me from injury.

I think it's an excellent workout, but you have to know what to expect or you might not like the emphasis on lighter weights and balancing moves.

I hope this helps. You might get a greater variety of opinions on the videofitness web site.

Strength, Balance and Flexibility

Hi Kim,

I would definitely recommend this video if you like variety. Like Daphne said it is very different from Cathe's PS series, but it compliments them nicely. She pre fatigues the muscles doing lots of repetitions then hits them with weights or does a combination of legs and shoulders which really challenges your muscles in a different way. In Cathe's videos I use heavy weights whereas with this video I use 8 pound dumbells, but I can definitely feel my muscles working with that weight because of the repetitions and combinations. She also focuses on stabilization and flexibility which is definitely a neglected area in my rotations. After the hour is over, I feel like I got a good workout. Of course, she is great instructor as well.

Thanks guys

I appreciate your input. I see myself getting this tape sometime soon.
