Straddle Taps

I am so freaked out that Cathe might be including straddle steps in her step work-out! I am a total, fall on my butt, mess with those things. Does anyone else have trouble with these?

Hate them!!! Can't even get my feet in the right position. I too have taken a fall with these. Let's vote for NO Straddle taps!!!!
ellie:) :)

OMG,

On Sunday, I missed the step, wiped out and went spralling across my basement, arms out, complete with a loud expletive, in an attempt to catch myself from going headfirst into the weight bench while doing straddle taps. (Scared the heck out of the dog) All I could think of "is this better not happen at the RT" and that I'd be the geek on my butt during the remaining straddle taps, holding my ankle, smiling that fake "Oh, no I'm OK, really," smile trying to melt into the hard wood floor.

So I guess you have my vote too.

;)

I'm sorry to hear you wiped out too with these. I would also like to vote for NO straddle taps on the RT. I twisted my ankle very badly trying to do them. I also have some trouble tapping around the step as well, which I find somewhat dangerous as well, although I can do them, but don't really like them.

Not complaining here, just trying to stay safe. I LOVE Cathe and crew!!! Cannot wait for this trip. I'm sure it is going to be the event of a lifetime for me and one I can, hopefully, repeat again & again!!!

Bonnie,

I am so there with you on those straddle taps! I'll be the one in the back of the step class using no risers! Which RT are you going to?

Bev

Darn! Well have a blast and I would love to hear all about it when you return! This is my first one and I am very anxious and excited.

Maybe we'll be together next year!

OK, I didn't want to be the first one to say that I too love straddle taps. Sometimes I goof though. Takes practice I guess.

I like them, too!

We do them at the gym about 60 per side and switch and do the other side. Our arms are overhead and are also moving along with each tap.

We call them toe tap repeaters. This move is one of those moves you can't really think about how to do it, you just have to let your feet naturally take the lead.

Occasionally, somebody will trip (not only on these but many other moves), but we just qucikly check and ask if they are okay. If so, we reach out and lend them an arm and help them up. Then right back at it! :)

I'm wondering if we are talking about the same thing. It sounds like you are referring to toe taps as opposed to straddle taps. Maybe not............I'm talking about when you straddle the step and come down the long step tapping alernating feet while straddling the step from foot to foot.

Is that the same thing? All I know is I tried them again today and didn't fall.........that's progress! lol

You're right. The move I'm was thinking about is executed the same way but in my case you don't move down the board.

See you in August.
Namita

It's wonderful to hear from everyone on this and interesting how many of us like them and how many don't.

I can't wait to meet all of you! See you next month!!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
