Storms a'comin'!

Yup, we've got another Winter Storm Watch in effect here in southern Ontario. We're expecting significant amounts of snowfall mixed with freezing rain and ice pellets. Maybe I'll get a snow day tomorrow!

Anyone else in the path of this one?'

And you have to love the terminology they're using for the source of the storm...

"MEANWHILE A LOW PRESSURE AREA OVER WEST TEXAS IS GETTING ORGANIZED AND SETTING ITS SIGHTS ON SOUTHERN ONTARIO. AS THE LOW MOVES EAST ACROSS THE SOUTHERN STATES THEN CURVES NORTHEAST TOWARDS THE OHIO VALLEY TONIGHT IT IS EXPECTED TO TAP INTO ALOT OF MOISTURE AND ENERGY FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO"

It's getting organized and setting its sights on us. Who knew storms were so purposeful?:p

Hi Shelley!

Yep we are right in it's path here in Buffalo! We will get it a little before you do!

Deb

We are predicted to get ice in the morning. Great. My doctor's appointment to get my bandages off is at 10:00. I have a friend driving over the mountain to pick me up, since everyone here will be at work or school. I sure hope they are wrong.

Deb - and we'll probably both get that dreaded "lake effect snow" along with it, which means significantly more for us than anyone else!

Robin - I hope the ice melts quickly and you can get to your appointment.

Hello Shelley,
Yes, I'm in the path of this one and we just got over a bad storm that closed just about everything yesterday. Tonight, after midnight, is when massive accumulations of snow will hit. 3-9" by Friday afternoon with some flurries today,
And, I'm in western lower pennisula of MI, 90 minutes north of IN, one hour from Lake MI, and 2 hours east of metro Detroit.
So, tomorrow morning and night, my workouts will be shoveling. Saturday it will be that and some 4DS.
Plus, I'm really low on calicum chloride for my driveway.
:(

Shelley, you are not getting it all because here in Ola, Idaho we've had more snow than we know what ot do with. We have a long driveway and couldn't get out if we had to. It is snowing and blowing and more is on it's way. I have been shoveling about 3 hours straight everyday and thinking it will remove that little roll around my middle but so far it it hasn't budged at all x( . My husband has been using the snow blower and tractor also but the blower broke down uesterday so he'll be doing more by shovel also.

Hang in there,
Darlene

Hi Shelley! :) I'm in St. Louis, Missouri and we're supposed to get a whopper of a snow storm today...they're asking people to stay off the roads from about 1-5...right around the time I go to work, of course...should be fun! Oh, and my son, who drives to school, will also be driving home in that timeframe! Yikes!

All I see is a lot of wind for tomorrow, with some rain.

I can't believe a storm in TEXAS is setting its sights on Shelley! Can't you Canadians just beef up your border control and refuse to let it in?? ;)

I wanna know how it's getting organized. Is it making sure it has its passport, packing a lunch, getting the maps together so it doesn't take a wrong turn somewhere...?

Yup. We're getting a little bit of it this afternoon and tonight too. We're only expecting 4-6" of snow, and I'll be surprised if we do get that much. Thank goodness there's no freezing rain projected here!

You stay safe and warm!!! I'm LOL at the storm "getting organized and setting its sights on southern ontario". Who the hell writes this stuff???? :7

<It's getting organized and setting its sights on us. Who knew storms were so purposeful?>
LOL! I'll head into work after the rush hour....hopefully the roads will be better by then.

LOL at Nancy's comment about the border patrol. My DBIL works for the US forest service near the Canadian border. Sometimes, when he and his crew are in the woods near the border, they like to go eat lunch in Canada.

I want to invite your storm to visit us in Vegas! Oh c'mon, you'll have fun-we could use a good snow storm around here!:7

We are right in the path of the storm here in southeastern Michigan. They are predicting 8-12 inches of snow. Currently we are under a heavy snow warning and this is all after a nasty wind storm yesterday that left us without power for 20 hours x(

Bring it on!

I absolutely LOVE a good snowstorm. I love to watch them develop - I'm such a weather geek anyway. They call me "Doppler Heidi" at work because I'm always predicting weather, telling everyone when the thunderstorms will arrive, etc. I'm also an official "severe weather spotter" - add that to my resume, lol..

We are in NW Ohio - kids are already planning on staying up late. A few of these storms have surprised us and either gone around us, north of us, etc, but, boy this one looks like a humdinger!!

Heidi, frothing with excitement - hey, what else do we have to look forward to in OH in winter??:7

Another Ohioan here who is supposed to get hit too! They are predicting it to hit tonight and will continue into the morning rush hour! Uuugh! I have to go to hopsital to see my FIL tonight so I am PAYING my son gas money to come & take me to meet DH there in case it's icy when we come out. Call me chicken, but after driving years on these Ohio winter roads, I never get used to it!

Yep - another Northeast Ohioan who is in line of the storm, assuming it in fact got its organizational act together and doesn't fear the Canadian border patrol to reject it. The kids are already planning on PJs inside out and backwards. I coach a jr drill team that practices every Friday. Sent out e-mail notices to remind the parents that no school = no practice. I've already gotten reply e-mails with the parents' prayer: PLEASEHAVESCHOOL PLEASEHAVESCHOOL PLEASEHAVESCHOOL! Ha! Stay warm and safe if it hits you.
