Stomach flu?

DS7 had the stomach flu Fri night. He didn't look good, got sick, went to bed, and woke up tired, but better on Sat. Sun he was bouncing off the walls, said he was feeling fine and looked just fine. Monday night he got sick again, but was looking ok, and said he felt ok til right before he got sick, then was perfectly fine afterwards. He was fine Tues and Weds. Last night he got sick sometime in the middle of the night and went back to bed. He didn't tell us til this morning. Again, he said he felt fine until he woke up sick, then felt fine this morning. WTH?!?!?

DH is taking him to the Dr this morning, as it seems more than just the stomach flu. In the past when he's had the flu, he gets sick, is fine for a day, then gets sick again (I don't know why) so we figured the 1st time it was par for the course and let it go. But now it is happening again??? Anyone else's kids do this? He says he hasn't gotten into anything or done anything we're not aware of. I'm pretty sure its just an odd case of the belly monkeys, but I don't want it to be something really wrong. The funny thing is, he says he feels fine. I can't pin it down to anything he's eaten - we all eat the same dinner and he hasn't had anything weird at before/after school care or school. He's been hungry, and hasn't been eating a whole lot - trying be careful of the belly - or junk. I don't know whats up.

Hey Nan,

Sorry to hear about you rson. Poor littel guy. My own kids have not had this but I do have 2 daycare children who have experienced the same thing. I hate to tell you this but it went on (& off) for at least 2 weeks before I thin k they have finally shaken it!! The parents had them at the DR's a number of times. they kept telling them "it's a virus...it has to run it's course"
Hopefully yours will run it's course quickly!! I keep probiotic pills on hand that we atke when it's going through the daycare or if one of my kids have it. Last summer youngest DS had it two weekends in a row & that's what they told me to give him to help get his gut in order.
Good luck & I hope he doesn't "Share"!! ;)

I just tt DH. The Dr seems to think the flu buggies have run their course, but his stomach may be sensitive. No dairy for 4-5 days except yogurt. No milk, no cheese. He gave him some probiotics to take as well. like I said, he says he feels fine, and he looks fine until *BLAP!* Dr said the dairy is probably irritating his stomach. Monday he had milk at school, and last night he had a big glass of milk w/ dinner and some milk before bed. He ate pizza Sun w/ no prob, but he drank pop, not milk at the party we were at. I think he was just drinking water on Sat, bc he had been sick on Friday. He had plain oatmeal Sun morn, and some graham crackers and apple for lunch w/ water. So, I suspect the Dr is right. His stomach just needs to settle all the way. Dr didn't seem to think at this point it would pass around the family.
