Step Works

Is it just me or is Step Max really hard? I took awhile off from exercising (4 months) and reently started again. I did Low Max, Cardio and Weights and Rhythmic Step. This morning I did 3/4 of Step Works and thought I would die. My heartrate was too high and I kept taking breaks to catch my breath. Am I really out of shape or is this a really advanced one?

Not to worry, this is one of her more advanced step workouts, but it so much fun its one of my favorites! :) Won't it feel good one day to be able to complete the whole thing knowing that it is a really advanced video. Best Wishes
 
The beats per minute of Step Works is really fast. You don't realize that when doing it. But I have the CD and I thought I'd do the warm-up and 1st combo of Step Works, followed by combo 2& 3 of PowerMax. When I switched over to PowerMax, it was like going in slow motion!

Cathe says something like, "Do you want to go faster?" during the first segment and by golly, it speeds up. It's a good workout. I suggest lowering your step height. I cannot do step on an 8" platform. More power to those who can! :)
 
This is a toughie but a goodie! I think part of it is that the BPMS are faster in the first combo then her other workouts so you get moving fast right from the get go! This is one of my all time favorites of Cathe's.

Thank you everyone! I thought it was just me. I realize now that it does start much faster and that's what got my heart rate up so quickly. I love this video and am looking forward to doing it all one day soon.

I have always thought this was Cathe's hardest step workout! I love it, but it's a killer! It's the one I always reach for when I want to check my fitness level and be sure I'm "up to par"!
 
I remember the first time I did Step Works & section 2 was SO much fun, & I was thinking gee, this is a lot of fun but not really that hard. Then Cathe yelled "surprise!" & I was eating my words. :eek:
 
I love Step Works. It was my first Cathe workout back in 1998. The time flys, I get a great workout and it is so much fun.

I love Step Works too. I had gotten the 36-DVD bundle a few years ago, so with all the new workouts, several, including Step Works, had sat on my shelf for a while. I was very pleasantly surprised at the intensity and fresh & interesting choreography, especially considering it's one of Cathe's older workouts.
 
Step Works is very difficult. I am not really fond of the music, but I love the intensity and the "sweat" factor.

I use an 8 inch riser for the warm up and first cardio section, then I take the step down to 6 inches.

I consider Step Works to be one of Cathe's more intense all cardio workouts.
