Step & Steady State Cardio

When you are doing cardio rotations do you count SSC as any non-step cardio or do you include step only workouts in that category?
Since I mainly do Cathe cardios(Kick, Intervals, Circuits) & spinning
I have always thought that SSC wold be NON step because step is part of so many of cathe's stuff... I'm just re-thinking this tho.

Yes, step can be steady state. Think, SB or RS (not the blasts though). What do you mean how do you get around the non-stepping? DO you mean, if you don't do a step w/o 2 days in a row? Well, you can run at a steady state on the tread, do a steady elliptical w/o, bike at a consistent level throughout...you get the idea. Steady state can be lots of things, step included. I haven't been on much of a step kick lately and haven't done a true step workout for maybe a month. It doesn't matter really what steady state you do. I think the more important factor is just to keep varying your workouts and get a good mix of steady state, interval, HIIT, blah blah blah ;)

I think until the first IMAX came out pretty much all of Cathe's workouts were SSC. And some of the newer ones are as well.

The only ones I would consider intervals (bearing in mind I don't have any of her strength training workouts so there may be some interval cardio work in them) are the IMAXs & Low Max, the end of Step Blast, & the second section of Kick Max.

Those are two different questions:
How not to do step 2 days in a row: crosstraining. I try to avoid doing any type of cardio on consecutive days. Mostly I crosstrain between step and kickboxing, with some boxing and floor cardio thrown in.

How not to do intervals 2 days in a row: alternate between intervals (1-2 days a week) and steady-state cardio (any type of cardio--step, non-step--that isn't interval) or alternate cardio and weight days.
 
Thanks everyone! Sometimes i swear I over analize all this stuff... I'll count step onlys as SSC and I'll alternate w/ kick/interval/spin.
