Step Form

Hi Cathe,

Would you consider making a video instruction for proper Step form? I could use a tutorial because I notice knee pain after some step workouts and I think its due to improper form.

Also, I LOVE the new low impact series-my body has been rebooted in this past month :D Do you have suggestions for cleaning the felt covers on the sliding discs? Mine have begun losing their slidiness ;)

Thanks!

Hi Jessica!

I hope your knee feels better soon.

Proper step form is stepping up onto the platform with both feet planted firmly on the step (as opposed to the heels hanging off the edge) and then exiting a normal and comfortable distance off the step onto the floor (as opposed to exiting off the back with an exaggerated step too much too far away from the back of your step).

You should step up and down in a controlled manner with both feet making contact on the step and then down to the floor at all times (as opposed to stepping with momentum, which I refer to as a bouncy stepper). A bouncy stepper tends to get caught up in momentum and allows their heels to hang off the edge of step while on it and then bounce down onto floor and then spring back up onto step. Their heels never make solid and full contact with the floor.

If you feel as though your felt covers are not as slick as they once were, try polishing the surface you are sliding on. Many times the covers will lose their slickness if everyday debris on the floor collects on them.

Keep training hard :)

Thanks Cathe!

Your advice hit home because it made me realize that I am a bouncy stepper
Better to know and move forward with better form! :D
and my wood floors could always use an extra swiff!

Happy Holidays,
Jessica
