Step Blast choreography

Okay, maybe I'm impatient, but this is the 2nd time I have attempted Step Blast (I watched it I think twice before the first attempt) and it seems to me that the choreography is really complex!! I'm not getting it very well.

How long did it take you guys to learn this workout???

I learned it by doing one section at a time. To make it less frustrating, I tacked it onto the end of another workout, so I wouldn't feel as if I wasted my time while I was fumbling all over my step. The first two sections weren't that tough for me because I had learned all of Cathe's previous step workouts, but combo 3 stumped me for a long time. Hang in there! You'll get it!

Combo 3 is the most confusing. I'm also on the wrong foot on the ricochets all the time, for some reason.

I like your idea to tack one combo on at the end of another! Thanks.

Hi Amy!! What really helped me the most was to keep watching the workout and paying very close attention to her feet, when they are on and off the step, etc. This is challenging but so fun once you get it, you will love it!! Good Luck!!;)

Amy...combo 3 is the toughest. I have a tendency to just listen to Cathe's voice, as I know most of her choreography from previous workouts. It will take some time as it did with me. Be patient and you will get it...:)...Carole

I agree that Seg. 3 is hardest. I found it helpful to lower the step height to learn the choreography. It helped me not fall on my face!

I have the same problem I tried it at least 3 times I feel like I just can't get it. I am glad I am not the only one this is the only Cathe tape that I really have had such a hard time getting. I will keep trying also. I will pull it out this wkend and add on to other cardio w/o. I want to get it since everyone just loves this the best!:)

Do a section at a time either as a warmup or cooldown to another workout. The third section is ridiculously hard; I still can't get it all the way through, but that's what makes Cathe interesting!

Cheers,
Marie

I dearly love Step Blast, and the reason is because of the complex choreography! Yes, it was hard to learn. Took me forever. I remember once just playing back the first 15 minutes of the tape two or three times in a row just so I could get it. But now that I know it, it's the complexity that keeps making it so fun. Keep it up - you'll come to love this routine!

thanks for the great tips I will try tacking it on as you suggested! That will be my goal this weekend to learn stepblast!!!!!!

Thanks again!
Deborah:)

Morning Ladies,,

Okay is it just me, but I’ve looked high and low looking for Step Blast? Is it still for sell? I order it a few weeks ago on VHS but they were sold out. Now, I’m looking to buy the DVD but I can’t find it to review the workout description again. Can someone ‘Please' :) send me the link. Thank you.

Hi Nygurley :)

Aw....no wonder i could not find it. I ordered SJP on Vhs, haven't done it yetx( Maybe I can sale it to someone once I buy the DVD. Thank you.

your welcome! I am still having a hard time with the choreogrophy I will try again this wkend it is a fun fast moving w/o

Mostly I just gave up on the last segment. I get very confused and can't get the turns. I kinda avoid this w/o for that reason. Too frustrating. It isn't even fun.

I skip the turns. It is the same beat NOT to turn, so I don't get screwed up.

It took me way more than 4 workouts to learn that 3rd segment. It was also frustrating because I have it on DVD and when you hit the back button, it goes back to the beginning of the segment and those segments are LONG.

But, it is fun when you do learn it.

The beautiful thing about the BB series is that you can program it where you can do the same combo over and over. That's what I did until I got it.

I have to say, I think that Christi Taylor is onto something with her "Movemaster". It shows you the choreography, step by step, in slow motion. She turns away from you so you are looking at her back to match her feet, and she counts it for you. It's truly awesome!

Hi Amy,

These are some great suggestions that I may try too! I got this not too long ago and agree about that tricky third combo! I wanted to add a thought ... if your DVD player has a slow motion fast forward this may be helpful too. I will often use that feature to help walk me through the steps. Good luck! (I'm still tryin' myself!!!) :)

I've only done this workout via fit-tv, and at first it was tough as I did not have much previous experience with Cathe's step. I also leave out turns and pivots, and when I'm stumped, I will watch Cathe and count her foot movements. If a move has 4 beats to it, as I'm doing it, I will count 1,2,3,4 and I usually land on the correct foot.
For some reason I have the hardest time following her when she is in front of the step.

Now that I have down the fit-tv version, I really enjoy doing it and hope to order the dvd soon. The premixes look great.

Hope the counting thing will help.
